We stayed here after a busy two weeks touring Cape Town and on Safari so it was a much needed rest. The hotel is beautiful, staff excellent and the food amazing. They have a buffet on two evenings a week, but it is nothing like the buffets I have had before! All main dishes cooked fresh to order and the choices were so extensive you couldn't try them all!
The rooms are beautiful and huge - we worked out that inclucing all the day beds they would sleep 10. Spent our days lounging on our beds by the beach (they are reserved for your villa) and kayaking out to the reef and snorkelling back in - heaven!
Cannot reccommend this hotel enough, already planning to go back!

Room Tip: Although the Ocean front villas are very handy if you need to pop back to your room for something, t...

Wow, wow, wow. Every detail attended to. Stupendous facilities.. Extraordinary spa. Loved the palm weaving experience and bike ride along the beach. Incredible beach BBQ. Wonder dinner beside the pool. Loved the cocktails on the roof top as the sunset. Stunning rooms. A total wow. Dream hotel.

Room Tip: A real bonus to have a sea view beach front villa.

This review is a long time coming, it being 2 years since we last stayed at Baraza. The first time, in 2010, we cancelled our flights home and stayed an extra 3 nights - what more can I say? We then returned 2 years ago and tried to go back again last summer but the dates didn't work out.
This review is prompted by our just having stayed at 6 Senses in Vietnam, another hotel that claims to be 5 star. It missed the mark terribly and we found ourselves longing for Baraza.
And we realised yet again that Baraza really is the benchmark by which we judge all other so- called luxury hotels. So many claim to offer that which only Baraza delivers: beautiful accommodation, the most attentive staff in the world (they anticipate your needs) and divine (and varied) food. And the management have a presence without in any way feeling over dominant.
I see from recent reviews that standards remain - and we have promised our children that we will return.

My husband and I made our way over to Zanzibar – for a six night’s stay – after our travels to Cape Town and a week on safari. While the flight path from the bush was quite extensive (via an afternoon in Johannesburg, an overnight flight with a stop in Nairobi and then a 40 minute drive from the airport), when we arrived at the stunning property, it was so worth it!

The Baraza Resort & Spa is beautifully maintained and pure zen! Each villa is very well appointed with a luxurious sitting area, an incredible bed fit for a Sultan/ Sultana, a decadent bathroom and a lovely private plunge pool. We stayed in an ocean villa and had our own lounge chairs/ shaded palm trees set up daily for us on the beach. The food was good for a 5 star all-inclusive. The breakfasts were great and then lunch and dinner were a bit repetitive (limited menus and my husband and I are not big fans of buffets) but still very good. The staff went to every extreme to ensure that every need and want was met at all hours of the day and night. They waited on us hand and foot – helping us to rotate our chaises when the sun moved during the day, brought us alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks (amazing shakes!) on the hour, every hour, kept our endless water bottles cold and made sure we never went hungry.

We had the most wonderful butler, Sampson, who went to every extreme to make sure we had a vacation of a lifetime. He organized all of our spa treatments (during coveted times when the sun had set), a beautiful lunch on the beach (complete with a bottle of Rose Moet) and a private villa dinner (with a wait staff, surf & turf and Dom Perignon). He pulled out all of the stops to ensure our honeymoon was over the top and that we had everything we needed (international chargers for our iPads when ours did not work, oil for my hair when mine had exploded in my suitcase, etc. – nothing was out of line to ask for. We really lucked out having him look after us!

The property is perfect for families and honeymooners alike. While we had some initial reservations as honeymooners about being surrounded by families on holiday (during New Year’s week when we stayed there) but we had total privacy when we wanted it and then we were able to enjoy some amazing resort activities when we felt like being more social (after-dinner shows, live entertainment, a bon-fire and DJ on the beach and a party and fireworks on New Year’s Eve).

The spa treatments at The Baraza are world class. My husband and I each enjoyed a treatment every day during our weeklong stay and the Sultan’s Bath (couple’s massage) was absolutely magical and pure relaxation. The property’s design and grounds are inspiring and we were completely relaxed all throughout our stay.

My wife and travelled here on honeymoon last year and the review is a bit late but I felt the need to write.

What a place, 1st class in every department.

All inclusive with literally silver service, even if you ordered snacks on the beach.

We are not big fish eaters (lobster, prawns, crab etc here in abundance) and one evening the menu was predominately fish orientated so we had a real late snack as the sun went down on the beach and didn't attend dinner.

The next morning the F&B manager , who was great at his job found us and asked why we hadn't been to dinner and when we explained he just said "Oh , you should have said, we would have made you whatever you wanted"
And from then on they did! Steak, duck, anything you wanted!

Wild love to return if the budget allowed!

We stayed here for a weeks relaxation after being on Safari in Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. Our first view of the sea through the archways was stunning and so was the rest of the place. The gardens are beautiful and our ocean front villa with plunge pool took our breath away. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. Every night we went to the bar for cocktails before dinner and the food was amazing. Your loungers are reserved for you and as soon as you sit down a waiter comes over with water in an ice bucket for you! The service here is outstanding.

The resort is beautifully maintained and the villas are stunningly beautiful with private plunge pool, the views from the patio were overlooking the ocean - stunning! The food was excellent and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful at all times - nothing was too much trouble for them - cannot wait to return. Allin all a perfect stay.
