This place is right on the stunning Kiwengwa beach, and a thoroughly loved waking up and heading straight to the beach, and the stunning view you get from the lodge's 'chill out' area. The breakfast here was great also, and management and staff are so friendly. Them combined with the really nice and chilled out backpackers that were here the same time as me made this a great place to relax, and enjoy some good conversations.
If you're really brave, there's a plunge pool (absolutely freezing but a suppose good for the hot days when you want to cool off)
The negatives were that the food they serve is pretty expensive, although when I ordered it, I did enjoy it. However, at the time I went, there was a lady selling samosas nearby (we often went to her and they were so yummy) and so if you're on a budget, there's that option.
Also, our room wasn't cleaned as much as it should have been in the 10 days I was here.

Overall, I fully recommend this place if you're fine with basic backpacker amenities. It's the perfect spot to relax, meet people and appreciate the beauty of Kiwengwa beach. I hope to come back :)

We stayed in the non-honeymoon bungalows and chose Baby Bush because we wanted to be able to snorkel from the beach. The rooms were basic but fine and the included breakfast was usually good. Other meals were expensive but there were no little local restaurants close by. If you want to do nothing much but go to the beach and listen to reggae music, this would be a good place. However, although there are some little treasures out there the reef is very degraded and has strong currents (which can make for a good drift-snorkel if you are experienced but would be dangerous otherwise without a backup boat). Travel to other locations took a lot longer than anticipated by public transport (dalla dalla) as there was often a long wait for one to turn up but taxis were very expensive, and we found we needed to go to Stone Town more often than anticipated to sort out phone registration, try to buy a modem which would work in Kiwengwa (but they were temporarily unavailable), and buy a replacement camera, as well as to snorkel other locations. Baby Bush's internet was on-again-off-again, fine for just social media, but difficult as we were trying to get some work done. The music was often quite intrusive and we weren't the only ones to say so. Rooms would be cheerfully cleaned and linen changed when one asked.

Perfect, quiet location for travelers wanting to get away from the touristy areas of Zanzibar. During my stay there was a lovely group of like-minded travelers wanting some chilled fun on the beautiful beach and good conversation. The owner and staff are also very friendly and eager to help.
The dorm rooms are basic but clean with warm salt-water showers, great breakfast, good food sold throughout the day (if a little pricey) and best of all a BEAUTIFUL view.

Definitely not a 5 star resort. Accommodations are minimal but if you want a cheap, beautiful place to be a beach bum for a while look no further. The food is nothing special, nor are the rooms or bathrooms. The water that comes out of taps and shower is salt so you will always feel like you just came out of the ocean. However the spot is so perfect, right on the beach in an area that is a paradise. The common spaces at the lodge are very open and airy and always a relaxing place to lounge around and read a book or hang our with friends and loved ones. Not somewhere i would bring my grandmother, due to difficult stairs and lack of luxury but it was perfect for young travellers like myself.

Baby bush lodge could be a nice place if all you want to do is chill and relax on the beach, but if you want to go out and meet people, thats the wrong place to stay, it is far from stone town and there are only a couple of places to eat nearby. Mzulli is a friendly host and would arrange snorkeling and diving for guests, most of the staff are nice too but Ali, one of the staff members started to overprice the things on the menu. Even though they were written down, he would say that they had just changed. That really made us want to leave the place immediately!! Nobody likes to be overcharged for anything!!

I had a really nice time staying at Baby Bush hostel. Patrick and Mwalimu were super welcoming and did everything to ensure I had a great time.
It´s about an hour away from Stone Town (which I didn´t realise on arriving to Zanzibar) but a dalla-dalla ride is all part of the African experience!
Head up the hill to get a cheap feed at the local samosa stall.

Baby Bush is a great place to stay if you are traveling on a budget in a group or solo. I was told the best place to stay if you're looking for a relaxing beach experience is Kendwa Rocks but Baby Bush beat their prices by a long shot and I was very happy with my decision as soon as I saw the breath-taking views and had such a warm friendly welcome from the staff. I booked at Baby Bush looking for an affordable place to travel solo and get in some relaxing on the beach in and ended up meeting great people, having an unforgettable time, and not wanting to leave.

There is something for everyone with lots of activities you can do on the island, and a great night life, not to mention an almost private beach that makes the whole trip worth while.
The rooms are simple but have everything you need considering you'll be spending most your time out enjoying what Zanzibar has to offer, there are lots of lounging areas to make it feel private even if there are lots of guests staying, and a top notch bar and restaurant that isn't too pricy. The free breakfast is great with tons of local fruits and plenty of food. The staff is awesome and treats guests not just like customers but like friends. After a few days of getting to know the staff, the owners, and learning how Baby Bush got started, it made me really want to support them and encourage others to give them business.

I can't recommend this place enough and thank them for the most luxurious vacation I've ever had on a backpacker's budget.

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice, quiet, and all but the dorms have incredible views.
