We have just returned from from a fabulous week's stay at The Hideaway This stay followed a 15 day Jenmantours safari following the great migration. Connecting to Stone Town from Mt Kilimanjaro was easy on Precision Air. The driver was there to pick us up and the roads to the resort were fine (especially after bumping through Africa!). Now for the resort...wow!!! From the arrival, the efficiency of the front desk to our entrance to our junior suite. Everything was perfect. The luxurious suite and bathroom, loads of storage and a full minibar! The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff, the food but most especially, the service, was a 10 plus. The manager, John Rogers and his wife, Isabelle, made themselves visible and truly cared. Kris, the restaurant manager, was also present at each meal to make sure everything was to our liking. The beach, snorkeling trips and even the beach boys, added to our perfect week. Not only was this the most impressive resort in Zanzibar but also the perfect choice.

I have been in this resort for a week with all the family (five of us) and I can assure we had the greatest time ever. Everything was perfect, the food is great and the service makes the difference. We have been surrounded by so many people just taking care of us. Great! Just great!

We have just returned from the Hideaway Nungwi and I have to say what a fantastic place, 10 day's of pure bliss.

We had read a few negative points about the service and the food but I would like to say that those people really do need to get real, the service was fantastic, everywhere you went there was genuine happy smiling people ready to help, the pool staff were brilliant.

We decided to have a holiday where we would do nothing....and this is just the place to do it.

All of the staff went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and enjoy our stay nothing at all was too much trouble so a great big....

Asante sana.

This was our first holiday in Zanzibar and we picked Hideaway of Nungwi as our choice of destination on the recommendation of our travel agency, Exotic Vacations. Our stay was from 10-17th September 2013.

We booked the all inclusive package staying in a luxury superior junior suite, which allowed us all our meals in the main restaurant, as well as the Ishi-Teppsnyaki Asian restaurant and the Carnivore& more restaurant. All drinks and snacks were available throughout the day and at lunch and dinner times, so we paid for nothing after our upfront cost. The drinks menu’s clearly indicate those drinks that are not included as part of the all-inclusive package.

Our room was well appointed, very comfortable, and had everything we needed. The bathroom in our room only had a shower, but that is what we would have asked for anyway. Linen and towels were changed daily and the mini bar (included as part of the all inclusive package) was replenished daily. We at no time felt that any of the staff that cleaned our room were ever under our feet.
The view from our room (no. 152) was a spectacular one across the lovely gardens and out to sea.

The main restaurant, where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served, is situated at the front of the hotel complex looking directly on the sea. It offers a breathtaking view of the many different sailing boats that continuously pass by on the clear blue sea that is at most times flat, with no waves to speak of.
We had no complaints with the selection and variety of food available at meal times, and overall we enjoyed all our meals. Apart from the wide selection of buffet available, there is also a separate pizza and pasta bar available at mealtimes.
We need to say a big thank you to the wonderful staff at Hideaway of Nungwi, who could not have been more kind and accommodating than they were. Smiling faces always surrounded us, and nothing we asked was ever too much trouble.

Last but not least a word on the location of this hotel. It is on a moderately sloping west facing site down to the sea, so a sea view is never far away. Although the hotel only opened in early 2013, the gardens that have been created are wonderful and a joy to be in. The wide pathways allow easy walking (or transport in a golf cart if you prefer), and even though the buildings are well spread out on the site, nothing is much more than a five-minute walk away.
The beach itself has soft white fine sand that the sea gently laps onto. If you are a keen photographer there are unlimited opportunities to get some really good pictures as a wide variety of Arab dhows continuously sail past. As Hideaway faces west, the evenings offer opportunities of some spectacular shots of the setting sun, with all the evening boating activity.

We had a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable stay at the Hideaway of Nungwi and are certainly grateful that our travel agent recommended us to stay there.

We stayed at the Hideaway for 5 days after our safari and had a beautiful room with appointments to die for. Bathroom was beautiful as was the room. So well decorated. The rooms all had balcony with view of the incredible beach and infinity pool. Moorish architecture and fantastic gardens/landscaping. The reception space was incredible. Food wonderful...a huge buffet with many choices or a choice of restaurants. Used the infinity pool every day. The beach was beautiful with snorkeling accessible from beach; use of kayaks, catamaran, snorkel gear, paddleboards free. Staff so attentive and helpful. The manager talked to us each day. Air conditioning and hair dryers...thanks! WE loved the Friday outside dinner....quite an experience. Also the native dancer presentation on Thursday. We just loved everything about this place. Easy to arrange outings from hotel--spice tour and sunset cruise were two we loved. Also tour of Stone Town. Great place for a special event.

Room Tip: All rooms good....closer to beach were nice but farther up the hill had great views. Note. There is...

I have one thing to say for this place... 'Exceptionally beautiful'. Being a Tanzanian I have stayed mainly many hotels in Zanzibar all types from 3 stars to higher ones. But Hideaway Nungwi takes the crown. We were three friends and we had the best of our time in the hotel. The staff are very friendly from reception to waiters to managers. I and my friends would specifically like to say Thank you to Giuseppe Scarpino the Assistant Reception Manager for his hospilitality during our stay. Special Thank you to the Director of Hideaway Nungwi for his generosity. The rooms are heart warming with exceptionally clean environment. Sun set from the rooms or from the pool is a 'must see' view. One can relax on the beach or near the pool anywhere you choose your spot it is peaceful. Highly recommended hotel in Zanzibar. Keep up the good work team. Definately would like to return sometime soon...

Room Tip: The hotel provide rooms that will exceed your expectations.
