“Turtle Soup”
Reviewed December 19, 2013

Interesting but the water was so filthy it was difficult to spot the poor turtles. Not sure how they survive in such dirty water.
At least they are doing a good thing by trying to protect the turtles and looking after any injured that the fisherman bring in to them.

A chance to understand more about the turtles in the area and help contribute to their long term survival. Staff very knowledgable and an hour well spent.

“Nice way to spend a spare hours in nungwi”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

We paid five dollars and had a tour by one of the knowledgeable locals. We enjoyed feeding the turtles. Its a small place but its worth a visit to support this local project

“Not Seaworld but a worthy cause”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

A small local effort operating about 20 years, where nearby fishermen can bring endangered sea turtle eggs, where they will be hatched, nurtured up to a certain size and released. It took a while to change the local culture. Previously the fisherman would have just eaten the eggs or collected and sold them. Conservation is a luxury in a poor 3rd world nation. Good to see the local very small effort here though. If you have any interest in small local conservation efforts it is worth the entrance fee and short visit. Regard it as a donation to a worthy cause. You can hold the small turtles and feed them. If you are looking to be entertained, this is not for you.
