A stunningly beautiful hotel right on the beach in Nungwi.
The hotel is small and intimate with a small but perfectly adequate infinity pool overlooking the beach. Next to the pool there is a massage table and a bar for lovely (but strong!) cocktails throughout the day and watching the sunset. By the pool there are the usual loungers and also a few double beds with TVs and curtains.
A romantic hotel and resort - the bar and restaurant are fairly priced and the food was good. Breakfast was quite basic but well presented.
For convenience there is a travel organiser at the resort and spa / treatment providers.
Within walking distance (2-10 minutes) there are plenty of alternative restaurants to try. We mostly went right out of the hotel (as you face the beach) walking through the black gate near the restaurant entrance. This took you away from the beach at night and towards other restaurants - also with great service and food. Just good for variety.
We did walk through a market which felt quite intimidating in the evening due to the crowds of sellers and the darkness, but during the day this was fine.
Also during the day walking along the beach whilst the tide is out is a great way to explore up towards the light house and where the turtle pools were. We discovered a daily fish market and watched locals building dhows. We were also lucky to find a guide who showed us around the real Nungwi village and into his home and school.
We did try to go left along the beach but came to a resort where the tide had come too far in and the resort would not let us walk along their lounger area. Although this disrupted our walk we still had a great time.
It was perfect for us and we even did a trip sea fishing from the resort.
One evening we had room service which was ideal after a busy day in Stone Town - laying in our soft double bed with mosquito net around and walking the TV inside the bed hanging from the frame was fantastic.
Loved it and would most definitely revisit!
Rooms are very clean and cleaned daily. Nice touch with the flowers and towel patterns on the bed daily. The gardens are well tendered.
We didn't have a pool or ocean view, but from the balcony we could see evening games of football on the beach and general people watch - which was fine for us.
We felt 100% safe inside the resort - and the security guard on the gate from beach to the hotel entrance assured us of this.
Sea food in Nungwi is as you'd imagine amazingly fresh and excellent quality.
Next door to the hotel is a little bar which sells food and cocktails and has a pool table. There is also a mini supermarket next door and a market selling local artists paintings.
