“Great food - high quality well cooked, and great location”
Reviewed February 15, 2011

We travelled to Cottage Point via the ferry from Palm Beach which provides nice scenic views on the way. Its tiemd perfectly to give you 2 hours for lunch. The food quality is very high - its all about top quality cooking and ingedients. Portions are not large but big enough. Service is gracious and not intrusive.

A great experience.

“Location is Superb”
Reviewed February 11, 2011

You can access this restaurant by car down a steep road in a National park or by float plane. When there, it's a nice cosy place with both indoor and outdoor seating, with very peaceful and scenic views along a branch of the Hawkesbury River.
Staff are very attentive, and service is speedy. Food quality is very good, specialising in fish dishes. Atmosphere is great with convivial surroundings.
Would say this is worth a special trip to visit, and have a great meal in a place where the "bush" meets the river.

Absolutely delicious! A culinary adventure! Do try the degustation menu- I recommend upgrading to add alcohol or you will spend too much if you are planning on having more than one glass though. And the Hawkesbury- well- what a beautiful part of the world. Planning on staying there next time as having to drive back into the city after such an experience is disappointing!

“Amazing Surprise!”
Reviewed November 2, 2010

Booked for us as part of a side-trip. Taking a Sea Plane was incredible in itself. Landing in the water and having a major lunch at Cottage Point Inn was icing on any cake.

Service was outstanding, food was outstanding, view was outstanding, everything was outstanding.

A must if you've got the time and want a memorable experience!

“A special meal at a special place”
Reviewed June 20, 2010

We booked one night of accommodation at Cottage Point Inn, with a three course meal and seaplane flights included through Sydney Seaplanes for a special surprise on my partner's birthday.
The staff at Cottage Point Inn were helpful and well informed which was particularly evident at dinner where they have a good sized and very complex menu.
The meal itself was delicious and perfectly presented. Given the richness of the dishes we were worried about getting too full but the portion sizes are sensible which allowed us to feel indulgent without exploding. The menu is heavy on seafood but having had a vegetarian entree and venison (one of the day's specials) for main, as well as sampling my partner's excellent salmon entree and duck main, I can vouch for the chef's ability to do a great job with all food groups. Our dessert was also sensational. My warm savarin was probably on the large side, but nothing but death could have kept me from finishing it and the chef had prepared a plate of various chocolate treats for my choc-a-holic boyfriend as a special birthday treat and every element was perfect.
Friendly, approachable and well-informed service was very much appreciated, as was the relaxed and efficient timing of the courses.
For anyone looking to make a total night of it, the accommodation upstairs is comfortable, clean and spacious with lots of details (some board games, dvsd and good books on hand) that would make it great if you were staying even longer.
Of course, the location speaks for itself - a beautiful spot on the Hawkesbury with not a lot to distract you other than the postcard view and friendly kookaburras (although there's a surprising amount of water and air traffic around, but nothing it's a charming change from city traffic!).
Flying in on the seaplane is more than an efficient way to get to a fairly remote location - it's an experience all to itself. Not only do you feel like a rock star, but seeing Sydney and the coastline up to the Hawkesbury from such an elegant aircraft is a real treat.
For two people, the Sydney Seaplane overnight and dinner package cost around $1200 and was worth every cent. I imagine the meal we had (including modest wine) would have come in at around $300 for two.
