The Royal is a nice place to get away for the day to picnic and relax. Visitors can trip to Bundeena and Maianbar for supplies and camp out in Bonnie Vale with amenities to use. There is bush-walking and you can catch a ferry from Cronulla to Bundeena and backpack into the R.N.P. I recommend it highly having grown up in the township of Bundeena.

Its 36 km from Sydney and is a magnet for bushwalking, picnicking, camping, swimming and bird watching. Catch a train from Town Hall in the city ,and then a ferry from Cronulla to Bundeena.
Bundeena is enclosed by the national Park on three sides. Its near Jibbon head where you can take a guided tour of the Aboriginal rock engravings
If you train to Audley,a popular picnic area, there are trails and bush walks that are easy going and beautiful. Its not far from Lady Carrington's Drive,a road thats crossed by 15 creeks and is a delight to walk or cycle.
Obtain information at the Visitors Center or the TI at Audley. For guided tours along the Coast Track....call 0410 681 375. Take water and sunscreen. There are kiosks at Audley,Garie beach and Wattamolla.

If you are only in Sydney for a week or so, this is a no brainer. You have to drive down and check out what this place has to offer! It's the most stunning place, and so close to a huge world city hub!

We visited the Royal National Park on Anzac day the entry fee is $11 - we went down to Garie Beach which is a nice relatively quiet beach , there is a small cafe there. It seems good for surf.
After we went to Burning Palm Beach , there is a long walk down which is steep in places so its best to start out in good time so that you have time to spend there. Its very secluded at the beach.

Sydney has a number of great coastal walk and more popular ones are along Manly beach and Bondi Beach or Coogee Beach.
However, within one hour from downtown Sydney, the Royal National Park offers great scenery at Wattamolla Beach. The park pass is $11 per vehicle and opens at 7 a.m.. Please look at the web link: http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/NationalParks/parkFeesConditions.aspx?id=N0030
The walk took about 3 hours with comfortable hills and level paths. It is well guided and very safe unless you venture out to the cliff at your own risk. You can finish the walk with a great swim at the Wattamolla beach which is a combination of the waterfall from the river down to the beach; the waves came in at high tides and will push the seawater into the river and vice versa. It is quite a relaxing scene.
