“Perfect for mountain bikers!”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

We have held our Yeti NZ tribe gathering at the Altimont lodge 2 years running and just love this place. Rod and Noeline are the most wonderful hosts and fully understand the needs of riders, such as offering us a indoor hideaway for our bikes, a nice big and fully equiped kitchen, a lovely spa pool and comfortable living area with fireplace. The backyard was even big enough to make a mini 4X course! Highly recommended to all sports people!

We stayed in the lodge for one night. Hosts were very gentle, helping and supportive. Even though we check-in late in the night (around 10:45 PM), they were awake for us and kept the room ready and warm. We had booked 1 room for 4, however since they had extra room for that night; they gave us the room at no extra cost. They also suggested us the places to visit in Wanaka and Queenstown since we were new to the place.

We are totally touched by their hospitality and would like to recommend it to anyone who is planning in trip.

This was my third stay at the Altamont lodge. Its a budget choice with communal kitchen, lounge and TV room. Because its all wood it could be a bit noisy though. The managers are very nice people and even found a charger for my old nokia. Good for skiers, families an anyone wanting a place in Wanaka to chill out for a couple of days. Good value too.

we had a short stay at the Altamont, the hosts were really helpful and friendly in welcoming and advising us - the beds were comfortable, large communal kitchen was well appointed and the fire was lit for us in the lounge room. Its a nice walk into town and would really recommend to anyone coming to Wanaka.

I really just want to echo what other reviewers have said: The owners are lovely people, the facilities are spotless, it's cheap as, the location is good, and the atmosphere is cozy, unpretentious, and relaxing. The room (1 double + 2 bunks) was a bit small for me and two kids but that wasn't a problem since there's plenty of room to stretch out in the shared kitchen/dining room and lounge. It's the kind of place where you meet lots of other people from all over the world and you feel like lingering for a while instead of blasting off to the next activity.

In response to a previous comment about noise, there are signs everywhere (and the owners reinforce them) asking for quiet between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m. We found that other guests were very courteous, but of course your mileage may vary depending on who else is staying.

Room Tip: I agree with the previous comment that numbers 3 and up are likely to be quieter, because 1 and 2 ar...

Only stopped at this place as it looked cheap. Best place we stayed on our two week trip, everything felt so clean and homely. The hosts Noeline and Rod were so nice and friendly. Would have loved to stay for longer.

We happened upon the lodge by accident but what a great find!
Rod and Noeline are such friendly, nice people which makes staying at the lodge even more fun. Great value for money, extremely comfortable and clean. Enjoyed drinks and nibbles in the garden, lovely laid back atmosphere, will be back to try out the spa! Will definately recommend this property.
