“b&b not a lodge”
Reviewed January 4, 2012

not happy by our experience overall in tiritiri as you are not in a lodge but staying in the house of your host
they re is very little privacy as you share even kind a disturb them in their day to day life
price asking is for a luxury lodge wich is not here
one third of that would me normal
we were staying ina tiny room
as a b&b i would recommend it as your host are very very nice charming and enthousiaste to know you, the house is super new eleguant well located
but this not a luxury lodge it s a nice beautiful home stay
tiff the chef is great no misleding on that

Room Tip: choose the ensuite in the second home

We’re sorry to be late responding to this review. Our fault for failing to update our security details on TripAdvisor.
We were not able to provide this guest and his family with a suitable room as it was a late booking during the busiest week of the year (Christmas/New Year). What this guest’s visit did do was to reconfirm our decision to reconfigure our rooms to provide more accommodation for families. The remodel will be completed by June 2012 so we will now be able to offer 3 large Suites to sleep up to 4 people as well as 3 King rooms. Host accommodation is outside the Lodge. So we can truly say we have taken on board this guest’s comments. We want every guest to have a fantastic stay at Tiritiri and welcome feedback. We offer returning guests a 10% discount so we hope this family will return and check out the new configuration!

Boutique standards with the personal touch, from attentive and warm hosts, Stephanie and Dennis. Luxurious accommodation in stunning 'Lord of the Rings' setting with breathtaking views and everything you need on your doorstep: walks, skiing, scenic flights, cruises, great food and wine. Highly recommended.

It's not often in the course of traveling you find a place that makes you feel welcome and relaxed, a place that truly feels like a long lost home. For my wife and I in early January 2010, Tiritiri Lodge was that long lost home. We arrived after a long drive from Queenstown feeling exhausted and hungry. We were almost immediately offered something to eat and drink by our hosts, the lovely Stephanie and Dennis. We were then given a tour of this beautiful architecturally designed lodge. We found every aspect superb. From the outdoor sitting area with feature water fall, to the huge and accommodating indoor sitting area, my wife and I just dazzled at the style and grace present in the design and furnishings. Our room was comfortable, spacious, clean and quiet. And to top it all off the balcony overlooked Lake Wanaka. What really made Tiritiri so special however were the hosts. Their warmth and attentiveness is something so rare in the hospitality industry. We were truly made to feel welcome. My wife and I especially enjoyed the canapes and being able to meet other guests (we met a delightful German couple whom we later befriended). I should also mention the food. Tiffany is a wizard in the kitchen, dishing up the most marvelous five star quality dishes for breakfast, snacks and dinner (make sure you book for dinner). In fact, Tiffany's dishes were the best we had on our two week trip to New Zealand. In short we loved this place. Needless to say, highly recommended and a must do. We will definitely return.

My wife and I recently had our third stay at Tiritiri Lodge, for four nights over Easter. We found the stay to be as wonderful as our first time.
The Lodge is in a quiet residential street five minutes drive from the small township of Wanaka. While not directly on the lake it affords magnificent views of surrounding mountains and the lake with a direct line over the lake to the Treble Cone ski area. The lodge is beautifully appointed in a luxurious but understated style. Our room was spacious, comfortable and the king sized bed extremely cosy. There was a common area in our wing with complimentary gourmet coffee and tea, soft drinks and wine and delectable cakes for afternoon tea. There is also a comfortable lounge and dining area in the main building where the delicious breakfast is served. There is also a spa and outdoor seating with a welcome fireplace for the cooler evenings.Dinner is available on request with the menu very flexible depending on your tastes and the season.Every evening, around six drinks are served in the lounge.Local wines ,champagne and delicious hors d'oeuvres tempt the palate.
However the best part of Tiritiri is the warm and gracious hospitality of its owners, Stephanie and Denis, who treat you like family and cannot do enough to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.Nothing is too much trouble, from advice on tours and walks, to restaurant reservations.Make sure you ask Denis to play a song on the imposing black grand piano!
We loved our stay and look forward to our fourth visit.
