Wineglass café is a restaurant within the Edgewater resort it’s open to everyone you don’t have to be in the resort to eat here the the food is excellent it was the best restaurant we found in Wanaka which was surprising given that there were not very many reviews on trip advisor for this restaurant . We had lamb and fish both were excellent they also have an excellent wine list very nice ambience of the restaurant with beautiful views service excellent.

Thank William F

The food we had was delicious and the kids were very happy with the options on the kids menu. The service was very friendly and attentive. Everything was great bar the mussels - give them a miss.

While staying at Edgewater we decided to stay in for dinner after a massive walk around the lake and town. So pleased we did.
Started with drinks and the wait staff were very knowledgeable of local wines and I tried three different Pinots all delicious (Local Wanaka one was my favourite though for those interested!)
Hubby tried a few beers and was also pleased with most.
We were seated right near the window with a view and ordered a share plate of lamb shoulder which was amazing. We shared two sides (Duck fat roasted potatoes and assorted steamed greens) potatoes were delicious and I was very much looking forward to veggies after a week on the road and was sadly offered a bowl of steamed silverbeet only. I might suggest steamed greens has an S for a reason that means multiple not singular vegetable and a bowl of one bland veggie was not impressive.
None the less the meal (albeit with the lack of greens) was delicious. I also had an affagato for desert as I'm coeliac and the only sweet choices were all with pastry or made with flour (Note to chef, have one GF sweet on offer and you may find many more will chose a desert option) Not because they have to but many people now chose to eat GF (I wish I had that choice)

We have been staying for 14 years and whilst the restaurant has been revamped it is not good. THe high bar stools and tables are in a weird location, who ever approved the plastic plant in the glass terrarium?? And the additional over head lights remove all ambiance and make it feel like eating under flood lights. This is a fabulous location and the restaurant needs to up its game and get rid of these tacky decorations incl the fake plants at the hotel entrance. Bring back the casual evening bar menu for those who don't want the big main courses. Edge water you need to do better.

there is a nice, spacious lounge here, leather chairs, coffee tables etc.
We dropped in for drinks and relaxed until dinner.
We shared the lamb.
Slow cooked lamb shoulder with sides of honeyed carrots, baked potatoes and greens.
The meal defeated us, beautifully cooked and fall off the bone, but the quantity was too much for the two of us.
Could have served three at least.
A very good dish.
Wine list was good with some nice NZ wines promoted.
We finished the meal with a trio of icecream.
We were seated by the (real) fire which was nice on a cold evening.
