Stayed for 2 nights with our two children. Great facilities, cottage was huge and had access to hot tub and free laundry. Walking distance of park, lake and town. Bikes available for free hire. Hosts a bit distant but not unwelcoming.

Stayed here over Christmas. LAX lost my luggage (either Northworst or Air New Zealand). I bought some clothes in town and the manager of the lodge let me borrow his backpack and gore-tex rain jacket when I went hiking. Now that is great service, above and beyond the call of duty!

They have free Internet access (rare in NZ) and it's a small cozy lodge. The breakfasts were wonderful!!! The managers (husband and wife team) made sure to introduce you to the other guests but they also gave you your own space, unlike some B&B's.

Overall had a great time and would highly recommend to anyone

The room opened up to a small courtyard and was very nice. It's about a block walk to the lake a either a short drive or longish walk to "downtown" Wanaka.

We were very happy with our stay here. I think the price is right for the market and the property is in a great location. I have read several other recent reviews about the homestead and was very surprised to see that someone finds the rooms small and noisy as I found it to be the latter as the walls are thick ,well insulated and plenty of windows for airflow. The shower/toilet area is well designed and as for having a TV in the cupboard, I believe it is common in NZ and I personally think it is more appropriate to be hidden away in such a beautiful place as Wanaka. The outdoor living area including the spa, BBQ area is private, well planned and nestled in amongst native flora.
The hosts were lovely and happy to help out with our inquires and having Douglas (the dog) provided a great homely feel to the place for us

Quite disappointed with our stay here. Whilst it is quite a big house it seems as if the place has been squeezed on to a rather small amount of land meaning the inside isn’t as big as it could be, particularly the rooms. This also meant that everything could be heard, the toilet being flushed in the next room, people in the kitchen downstairs etc.

We thought it was quite over priced as the room was small and only mediocre. It also offered small windows which meant that it was quite stuffy. We stayed at Mountain Range last year which is nearby to this place and for less money, Mountain Range offered much more – the room was bigger with a private deck area, a spa bath and luxury toiletries which is much more in line with the price range targeted. Wanaka Homestead offered a rather weak shower with a leaky door and a bar of soap.

The room had a TV but it was stuck in the cupboard for some reason, probably because the small room would look too cluttered with stuff otherwise. I also couldn’t get my Wireless connection to work on my phone but because the hosts were out until late this couldn’t be resolved. Besides, at the rate we were paying, I expect everything to be fine straight away with no problems.

We stayed 3 nights in the barn at Wanaka Homestead in June. Ed and Carol were just wonderful hosts, nothing too much trouble. Barn was very authentic, loved the way the kids slept upstairs away from us! DVD's free to watch, bikes to use just loved it. Wanaka Homestead created wonderful memories of New Zealand and Wanaka but most of all, the friendly New Zealand people.

Our visit to Wanaka was mainly for a 1-night stopover. Found the place to be very homely and the hosts to be very friendly and accomodating. It was located in a residential area on a road leading to the National Park. Our room was comfortable though we found the heating a little too high for our liking (the level apparently is controlled within the main house). Overall, a nice experience.

We only booked 1 night at the Wanaka Homestead, but wished we'd stayed longer. Beautiful, homey, inn with all the amenities we could want. Lovely setting close to the Lake and we enjoyed using their mountain bikes. Especially enjoyed their dog, Douglas, who was an sweet little guy, without being an annoyance. We'll definitely return to the Wanaka Homestead.
