We rented the 2-bedroom cottage for a 3-night family getaway, and our stay was flawless from start to finish. Carol and Ed were kind and generous hosts, offering advice when we needed it and casually checking in on us from time to time. Cottage was beautifully appointed and perfect for those who want to do some of their own cooking, with a fully-equipped kitchen (really nice outdoor BBQ as well). Each of us felt as though we were coming home after exploring Wanaka and its surrounds each day. Douglas, the well-trained and friendly dog, welcomed us too, and dutifully came round (but never across the threshold) to inquire whenever we began to cook. It really had the feel of a place where they've thought of everything, and we would love to return someday.

We really enjoyed our stay at Wanaka Homestead Lodge. Our trip was very ambitious and we did a lot of driving the day we stayed here and arrived after 9:00 PM. We were concerned that we would not be able to access our room (cell phone service in NZ is usually only available in the major cities so we couldn't call).

To our pleasant surprise, Carol was up late and ready for us. She immediately helped us to find a great dinner (Amigos and we were actually craving Mexican food after being out of California for over a week at that point). This was excellent service.

The rooms are modern, cozy, and we got a great night's sleep. Their showers and bathrooms are great and the breakfast in the morning made for a great start to the day. The smell of fresh flowers hit's you as you enter the lobby and our beautiful room.

Wanaka is a great location for access to Mt. Aspiring and Mt. Cook and Queenstown.
We thank Carol and Ed. They are great hosts and this place is highly recommended.

A very nice place to stay and a great location as well. We had the master room upstairs, it was spacious and well appointed. The free wi-fi was welcome as were the full breakfasts. Highly recomended.

I can't wait to return to Wanaka Homestead as it was the highlight of my trip to NZ. The accommodation oozes charm and attention has been paid to every single details. Ed and Carol, the hosts, gave us a fabulous welcome and made our stay so memorable. You don't get this kind of welcome in a motel or hotel and as a tourist, it's great to chat to locals.

We had a BBQ outside for our evening meal. Ed's tip to buy Cardrona Lamb sausages at a local butcher was fantastic as they were delicious. Afterwards we relaxed in a beautiful guest sitting room with super comfy sofas. You can help yourselves to tea, coffee and cookies here whenever you want.

Laundry facilities are provided. The internet is super fast. There is loads to choose from at breakfast. Take a walk from the homestead through the park and along the water front. It's magical. Wanaka is a much prettier town than Queenstown and it's not nearly as commercialised.

Thank you so much Ed and Carol for a superb stay. We wish you the best of luck and we will definitely spread the word here in Ireland and more importantly, we will be back

My husband and I spent 2 nights here in February on our NZ trip. It was certainly the most comfortable place we stayed. We couldn't have wished for anything else. The hosts were superb - warm, generous and keen to ensure that we had all we needed. The accommodation was super with a homely feel. We loved the open living/dining space, and enjoyed a hearty breakfast on both days in the company of others. The free use of the laundry was well received by us (line, tumbler or drying rack to use). The spa pool was out of action, but it didn't matter... It's hard to fault this accommodation in any way. We were in a room in the front of the house, overlooking the road. There was some road noise, but nothing to lead to a disturbed night.

Highly recommended if you are looking for a peaceful stay, in cosy/homey accommodation (very clean) and don't mind a gentle walk into town......unless you have a car of course. Ed and Carol are very welcoming and attentive and will go beyond the call of duty as I experienced. Really enjoyed the social atmosphere of breakfast around the communal table.....the food was great too! Would stay there again without hesitation next time I'm back in Wanaka.

My husband and I spent 3 nights here and so wish we could have stayed much longer. Carol and Ed are gracious, attentive and simply perfect hosts.

We loved the location- easy walk to the center of town but far enough away it was so quiet and serene.

They have thought of everything and it is so appreciated when you're on the road for weeks.
