“Great dog sledding at Snow Farm”

The Snow Farm has groomed trails for nordic skiing, and they have the Underdog sledding team of Kurt and Fleur. Outstanding dogs and organisation. These two really know their stuff, and the dogs receive superb treatment.

“Comfortable Overnight Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2014

We combined a dogsled tour (Underdogs NZ) with an overnight stay at the Snowfarm. The family room (for me and 3 teenagers) was good value, warm and comfortable although very bland in decor. Would have liked tea/coffee in room (had fridge and kettle but nothing else supplied). The dinner & breakfast package was $50 pp. The dinner was reasonable - good portions, plenty of meat and roast veg. The roast potatoes ran out and were replaced by rice. Very little green veg. I know that they are a long way from supplies, but frozen veg would work. The breakfast was very poor. Cereal, toast, tinned fruit salad. No fruit juices, no fresh fruit, nothing cooked except porridge which looked like it was going to double as cement later in the day. Staff were friendly. Most of the guests were overseas cross country teams on training tours so not surprisingly there was no nightlife in the bar!! Everyone in bed by 9pm and prepare for a lot of banging around from 6.30am as the coaches wake up all their team (and us!).
Exquisite view and a lovely sense of peace in the mountains (apart from the early call).

“Top value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2014

Snowfarm was a great day out! It is difficult to get to as a tourist and I had to hire a car with snowchains (ended up not needing them) to get there. The road was in very good condition and is comprable to the road trip to the Remarkables (prior to sealing). But...
Well worth it. Got a beginner pack which included gear(near new) pass and lesson (over 1 hour)
I was instructed by Thomas (top bloke) in a group of 2! It was structured, good fun and fairly easy to pick up. Staff and skiiers were friendly and there was no arrogance or aggro that can appear at some snowfields.
If you compare this pack 90 and car hire 80 the day cost came to 170 nzd. This is for a full (very energetic) day. That provides (I believe) the best value for money in the Area. Bargain

“Winter Wonderland Beauty”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2014

Getting up here is a bit slow due to the curves in the road but once you are , try to spend the whole day here as it is buzzing with activites.

You wil llove the minus 7 degrees and the view you get whilst here and the skiing and tubing is affordable and fun.

Whilst here , a must do is the dog sledding with Kurt and Fluer. Check out the reception counter for the brouchre.

“Good family fun”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

Enjoyed the fact that the trendy crowd were elsewhere. Facilities were somewhat basic but had everything you need to have fun. Costs were very cheap compared to other snow fields.
