An absolutely wonderful B&B. Very charming and very attentative to the needs of the guests. We stayed in room 4 -- the rooms are separate from the common area -- all rooms are ensuite and have all the amenities a tired traveller requires.

The breakfasts are scrumptuous -- full breakfast with all of the fixings. Tea/coffee is available all day in the common area as well as an honor bar. A very nice, private garden spa is available to the guests as well. There are freshly baked goodies available to guests in the afternoon as well.

The owners were extremely personable. They even noticed that our rental car had a flat tire and helped to make sure everything was taken care of regarding it.

Wanaka is a beautiful town with easy access to Treble Cone for you skiers.

The only complaint we had about the property was the thinness of the walls -- we were in a downstairs room and seemed to hear all the comings and goings. However, the hosts provide ear plugs as part of the standard amenities negating the noise impact.

What a fun place to stay! We have never stayed anywhere quite like Te Wanaka Lodge before. As aviation enthusiasts we were in Wanaka for the Warbirds Airshow over Easter. A total must see for anyone who is interested in WW2 Aircraft. Te Wanaka was recommended to us by friends from Perth and we only got in because they gave up their booking due to another OS trip. We didn't know anyone, but Andy & Graeme were so welcoming, we felt like we'd known them for years. Over the 4 days of our stay we met so many nice people who also shared our passion! While I can't say that the rooms are the biggest I've ever stayed in, they were spotlessly clean and very cosy. We actually just used them to sleep in, as the rest of the time we were out and about or spending time chatting to other guests in one of the lounges! I guess if you want to be totally private don't stay here, but if you like to have your own nice room and meet other people then Te Wanaka is a delightfully fun place to stay. We've booked again for the airshow in 2008!

This was a really refreshing change after haveing stayed is lots of chain hotels in big cities. There are only 12 rooms so no large coach parties and the owners are really friendly and welcoming, yet also allow guests their own space.

There is a lounge for guest to use with tea and coffee facilities. Our room had a balcony with great views over the mountains. There is also a hot tub, but we didn't have time to use that. We shall have to go back!

My wife & I chose the Te Wanaka Lodge based mainly on the excellent recommendations we had seen on Tripadvisor. However, we were rather disappointed with our one night stay. The main reason was that, during the evening, all the public areas were taken over by a party and there was a fair amount of noise, including room doors banging, during the night. Also, whilst pleasant and clean, our room was quite small and had no tea/coffee making facilities or fridge. That said, tea and coffee facilities and a very full communal fridge were available in the breakfast area but that was in use by the party, which we did not feel inclined to intrude upon, during the evening. Breakfast was good but not available until 8am.

My advice to any prospective guests is to check that there is no party planned during their stay.

Such a wonderful place to stay and relax. Rooms are beautifully done, breakfast is delicious around a large table with other guests. Lodge has spacious sitting rooms, hot tub, patios etc. Hosts are so friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great for tourists or just for a getaway.

Absolutely gorgeous place to spend some time (2 weeks or more at least to see just some of it!). It's got everything: volcanoes, glaciers, alps, fiords, lakes, waterfalls, penguins...and nice people and good wine. What more could you ask???

Lots of choices of where to stay. If you're in Wanaka--stay at the Te Wanaka Lodge. Only 13 rooms--but they take great care of you. Rooms, especially upstairs, are lovely, with high ceilings, flat-screen TVs (don't stay inside and watch TV), sitting rooms, honor bar. And they fix your breakfast any way you want. Very, very nice.

The Novotels have very nice accomodations. But you can stay for less. And backpackers have plenty of choices, too. Bring your hiking boots--YOU WILL NEED THEM.

Have fun. Visit New Zealand soon!

Stayed 1 night in upper level room March 2005. Nicely equipped, very clean and comfortable. Most attractive lounge areas where you can help yourself to a drink (honour system operates for payment). Very good breakfast in bright dining area. Staff were most helpful and friendly. Easy parking and good location, close to shops, restaurants and attractions (of which Wanaka has many). One of the very best places we found to stay in our 3 week trip around North and South islands. Highly recommended.
