The sushi at Yohei is OK given the remoteness of Wanaka but not exceptional. In comparison with sushi in Japan, Yohei is fairly average, a little expensive at about $2 per piece, but better than sushi I've had in Melbourne and Sydney. The sushi I tried had been sitting in the display case for a while and the nori had gone soft and rubbery like plastic wrap, whereas the nori should be fresh and crisp. I was intrigued by the Cardrona sushi - inari sushi with crab on top resembling the Cardrona ski hills. Is it the best sushi in Wanaka? No, Sasanoki sushi is much superior.
