Mt iron track is a very scenic, easy but a steep walk just 400m from the puzzling world in Wanaka. The track starts steep and eases down after 1.5 km. You can either do a loop or come back the same way down. I preferred the same way down because of the views . As you ascend , you get beautiful views of wanaka town, lake and the Mt Aspiring peaks . If you take the loop you get a view of farmlands on other side. At the peak you get a 360 degree view of the region. The walk is pleasant, and it climbs only 250m , hence all age groups would be able to do it. An average walker can take around 2 hours to complete the hike.
If you cannot afford to take a helicopter ride over wanaka, mt iron can easily substitute for it !!
