We liked everything about the theatre from the couches to the pizza (though Railway Man was not the most up of movies)

“A Movie Theatre To Rival The Best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2014

My husband and I went to the movies in Wanaka recently. In fact we went twice! The Railway Man and 12 Years A Slave were the drawcards. But what a terrific wee theatre! It only holds about 85 patrons, (more if you're only kid-size!) but what a variety of seats! Soft, squishy sofas, theatre seats, airplane seats, and even a couple of old cars where you can pretend you're at a drive-in movie. Wonderful atmosphere and I loved the way the announcement was made to turn off our cell-phones and if we didn't an elephant would urinate on our heads! Hilarious! We didn't eat anything as we'd already had dinner, but we did overhear others talking about the food and drinks available for purchase. It all seemed to be quite popular. The large cookies seemed to be a big hit too. A fun way to spend some time, especially if it's raining. Also liked the way 60 year olds are classed as Seniors and entry is cheaper.

“Such a cool place!”

We went to watch August Osage county. The cinema is such a groovy place with sofas and comfy seats to watch the film. Yummy hot cookies at the interval. A fab experience.

“what a diamond!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014

To celebrate my birthday my daughter rang us on holiday to urge us to visit this cinema whilst we were in Wanaka for a few days. The weather was great and the thought of sitting in a stuffy cinema and missing the sunshine was not appealing but the thought of my daughter telling us off for missing out on such an unusual attraction was even more unappealing. We found the cinema despite it being without any large roadside advertising, but we realised that this was no ordinary cinema when we went inside. Comfortable tables, chairs and settees were everywhere, as this was not just a cinema but also a cafe and bar. But when we went in for the film we were astounded to see comfortable armchairs, settees, large comfortable cinema seats and even 2 vehicles(one a Morris Minor) that you could sit and watch the film in. An interval midway through allowed drinks, ices and a range of goodies to be brought back in for the second half of the film. The most comfortable cinema seat I can remember in the most unusual cinema I have ever been in. What a gem.

“Fun concept and better than your commercial cinema”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2014

We enjoyed it but standing in line 25 min before the movie starts to get the seat we wanted was a drag. Cookies smelled so good at intermission that we just had to buy one.
Would like one of these cinemas back home!
