When you've had your fill of the standard South Island restaurant fare (another steak, fish, lamb dish anyone?) you should go to the White House.
The meals are tasty, filling and original. We had a bruschetta and a pasta main each (don't come expecting carbonara or bolognese) and we were full and delighted. It's hard to go past this restaurant for originality.
It's true - the owner is not super friendly, but the other wait staff are welcoming and the ambience and decor mean you'll have a relaxed, fun meal. Like most places in Wanaka, it pays to book ahead in the highest parts of the high season.
