“Fantastic!”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Trish and Davey were helpful and friendly hosts. Trish provided homemade granola, cookies, and muffins daily along with other ingredients for a luscious breakfast every morning. We took a beautiful and well worth it hike to a glacier they recommended, and they helped us with tickets for a flight to Milford Sound. The apartment was clean and fresh with cooking facilites, a private patio, and gorgeous views of the mountains, countryside, and Trish's lovely flower garden. It felt like home away from home, and we recommend Wanaka and this property highly!

Thank you for taking the time to write a lovely review for us. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay here. We were happy to help arrange your Milford flight and recommend the walk to the Rob Roy Glacier, both spectacular trips from Wanaka. Thank you also for the feedback on the breakfast supplies and baking. Let me know if you would like any recipes!

We stayed here in early February 2013. It was so good that we stayed for five nights. Great accommodation in a lovely setting with wonderful views and really nice extra touches ( muffins, fruit, fresh flowers and croquet to name only a few ) only a short walk from the lakeside. Trish and Davy are fantastic hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. We will return as we regard Avalanche as amongst the best B&B's anywhere.

Whilst travelling around the South Island we were looking for somewhere to overnight in Wanaka. Spotted Avalanche on Trip Advisor and the night we needed was the only one available that week. We can understand why!

Trish, Davy and Poppy the dog gave us a very warm welcome into their home. With cookies, delicious muffins and fresh orange juice waiting for us we quickly settled in, before being offered a guided tour of the local area by Davy and Poppy as they were going out for a walk.

The Studio Room was spacious with a kitchen area, sofa, table and chairs and a fantastic view!
Outside we had use of a private decking area complete with barbecue.

Breakfast was continental style with a lovely fresh fruit salad, cereals and bread for toast with home made jams.

Our only regret was we could only stay the one night.

Many Thanks

Thank you for your lovely review. I'm glad you enjoyed the muffins and home preserves as I take pleasure in making them for our guests. Poppy, our little dog, was very pleased to have more attention and extra company on her daily walk!

What a beautiful place! My husband and I had the feeling of walking into a beautiful picture when we entered the yard. Looking around the nearby mountain, beautiful flowers and green grassland, we were extremely happy. Trish and Dave are very nice and considerate. We enjoyed the delicious muffin and fresh fruit. When we checked out and moved to our destination, we left one jacket in their house. It is Trish who tried every means to contact us and kept the jacket until we got it at last. We really had a wonderful time and sweet memory in Wanaka!

What a lovely B&B! Bringing my family over from Western Australia to take them to the Wanaka Show, we stumbled upon the Avalanche B&B from a quick internet search. And we found an absolute gem! From the time of booking, Trish was fully imformative and couldn't be more helpful. Bringing along our toddler, she set up a portacot & organised a highchair. There were even toys for him to play with and a trike to ride around the backyard. Having a backyard where he could run around safely in was a god send also! When travelling with kids, it is such an amazing experience to be just be able to turn up without packing your entire house into the car for a few nights!
From our arrival, Trish & Davy made us feel so at home. Her personal touches from the awesome baking to the lovely fresh fruit salad & homemade jam & muesli, put this B&B up the top of our list of places to stay. We have all travelled around the world a couple of times and had our fair share of B&B stays, and this is by far the best we have ever stayed in! We have already booked for another stay! And we cannot wait!
For anyone travelling to Wanaka, with or without a family, this is the ultimate getaway for all. Enjoy a lovely BBQ on the outdoor setting while sipping a couple of local wines and enjoying time being together. And all at an amazing rate! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

This was truly a wonderful place to stay. The room was large and had all amenities. There even was a bbq outside in de garden. The garden has lovely views of the mountains. It was super to wake up with these views. Trish and Dave are excellent hosts and provided us with all necessary information. Trish even did my laundry. The grand prize is that everything is organic. Muffins to die for. Fresh milk, fruit salad, butter, muesli. They also have free wifi to get in contact with home. We also used the bikes that were in good condition to tour the lake around wanaka.

Overall a perfect stay! Don't look any further book this b&b. You will not be dissapointed.

We enjoyed the hospitality stay by Trish and Dave, felt very much at home during the 3 days 2 nights stay. Our children have had much fun during the educational fishing trip, we simply love the great taste of rainbow trouts! You will be greeted by the unexpected guests in the lovely and beautiful garden. We really missed the great companion of Poppy! Trish, thanks again for the delicious treats of fruits salad, muffins, homemade cereals & cookies. Hope we will be back again soon!
