“best cinema experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2014

we were on a tight schedule but ensured to accommodate and take time to visit this place and catch up on a movie. We definitely did not regret it. We enjoyed it to the fullest. We watched an animated movie in the company of many bubbling and cute lil todds on a car seat complimented by hot and fresh chocolate cookies and coffee. Ahhhh!!! wish theatres were like this everywhere.

“Awesome Evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2013

What fun this place is with its worn couches and little VW Bug on the floor. After a long day of hiking, we enjoyed a bottle of wine, popcorn and huge chocolate chip cookies while watching the premiere of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. Great time. Make sure you walk by to put your name on the reservation list for the next night.

“The Right Way to do Cinema”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2013 via mobile

For me, Cinema has always meant large Multiplex's with numerous screens, hundreds of seats in each, insufficient legroom and uncomfortable seats, selling popcorn delivered pre-popped, and cheap nasty food and snacks at extortionate prices.

Cinema Paradiso is the complete opposite - you have a choice of seat type from old sofas and airline/coach seating to the front seat of a car like an American drive-in. The food & drink is available before, during the mid-film intermission or afterwards. Meals can be ordered beforehand and eaten during the intermission and the film will wait for you to finish your meal or you can take it in with you.

The burgers were literally the best we have tasted in New Zealand - made like my mum used to make but better and the Cookies taken out of the Oven just as the intermission started were rich, large and tasted great.

The quality of the movie presentation was just as good as a typical multiplex screen and our movie was a very recent 3d release so nothing is sacrificed for comfort or dining.

So wish we could have a Cinema Paradiso back home!

“An experience - really good!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2013

We had heard of this cinema and cafe before setting off on our hoiliday and we were not disappointed. Really 'chillaxed' staff - wacky cinema with sofa's, part cars. The film gets stopped half way through so you can get more refreshments - yes you can take your wine / beer / ice cream / pizza in with you - and then when everyone is back comfortably they play the second half of the movie. Just a nice place, nice people and a nice experience.

“wacky and wonderful.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

Not your normal cinema. Sit and watch the movie with your family in and old Morris Minor. Bus seats, airline seats, leather lounges or the plain old sofas. The collection of seating was amazing and unique. Staff excellent, make sure you have some popcorn !!
