This lodge deserves more than five stars!! My fiance and I stayed here the day before and the night of our wedding. It was one of the most memorable parts of our trip to New Zealand (after our wedding, of course!). The owners were away, but we could not have asked for better hosts in their place. Lynda and Kate were so lovely to work with and so genuinely kind and considerate. It was our second day in New Zealand and the hospitality was phenomenal. It honestly just felt like we were at home but better. Both Lynda and Kate were very attentive without overstepping when it came to helping with small details of our wedding. Kate called and arranged for me to have last minute flowers, and Lynda would make sure to have small trays of food available during my hair and make-up sessions. It was really all the little details that made such a huge difference. Absolutely lovely place to stay, and wonderful, caring people who help run it. We plan on coming back for our wedding anniversary in the years to come. They're "good sorts!!!"

Room tip: The Black Peak Suite is totally worth it!!!

Hi Ethan and Jen,

Thank you for your wonderful review!! We absolutely loved having you stay with us at the lodge and were delighted that we could help ensure a magical wedding day for you both. So pleased the Wanaka weather came through and you made it up in the helicopter for your nuptials. Please come back and stay soon - there’s so much more for you to see and do in and around our beautiful part of the world. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your travels!!

Kind regards,
Kate

Came straight from UK and so a bit jet lagged. The welcome was amazing and personal; nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are lovely, stunning even. There is an amazing lounge/dining room with fire, books, games, TV and DVD. The pool was a bit cool but the hot tub well used. Breakfast was individually cooked to order. As always it is the people there that make it - owners and staff introduce themselves and do nothing but smile though still give you plenty of privacy. If there is a better lodge in New Zealand please let us know.

Room tip: They are all good - choose the suite if want extra privacy

By far the most iconic hospitality experience in our 2.5 week tour of the South Island. Located
5-10 mins drive outside Wanaka, the Lodge is situated on a beautiful plot of land with great views of the surrounding mountains. It's a new property so everything is shiny new (opened in 2014 I think). But the reception by the owners- Pauline and John - trumps all. They personally prepared gourmet breakfasts and evening snacks, were genuinely helpful and made everyone feel welcome. It is clear they've put all of their heart into pampering their guests. This deserves a 6 out of 5 rating.

Couples would likely make the most of the stay but the families we met were also happy - and so were we.

If you want to go to a beautiful place and feel totally at home and pampered you must stay here. They even offered a r/t ride to town (close by) so we could "enjoy" our evening to the fullest. Pauline and John are the ultimate hosts and the accommodations were super clean and comfy. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The room, the cleanliness, the facilities, the bed, the staff, the breakfast, the extras, it was all excellent. How do you improve on excellent? You feel like you are at home and your hosts (almost) instantly become your friends. You feel like a part of their extended family.

Pauline and John are fabulous and we really appreciated all their hospitality during our stay.

Room tip: All the rooms are great. Make sure you stay for three or more nights, the experience keeps improving!
