We stayed in the Yellow Cottage (essentially an old farmhouse), it had such character and charm that we fell in love instantly. The views to Mt Cook were to die for and mesmerising. This was a full size house with plenty of room for our family of 5 (2 double rooms and a third bedroom with 2 x singles). The inclusion of a laundry with its own washing facilities and clothes line made our stay even more comfortable. We stayed 2 nights but wish we had planned to stay longer to spend more time exploring the farm and the surrounding area.

We stayed in a self contained cabin which had everything we needed. The owners even brought us over a BBQ to use. Nicola and Sean were very friendly and helpful. And our 2 year old daughter had a lovely time feeding the chooks and playing with Gus the dog.

Absolutely amazing views over to Mt Cook. A fabulous spot to just sit back in the evening and enjoy a cold drink on the deck.

Have booked our next trip! Thanks foir a great stay.

This was one of the most charming and comfortable places that we stayed in on our NZ trip. The decor is practical and unpretentious while staying modern and sophisticated. Twizel and environs is also one of the most seriously under-rated towns on the South Island. We stayed in the guesthouse with it's wood stove and fantastic views while waiting out a filthy rainstorm. Highlights are the peace and quiet and delicious catered breakfast. My wife and I aren't vegetarians, but are trying to eat heathy and so appreciated the magnificent fresh baked goods and savory scones. Next time we will definitely book for at least three nights and do some hiking and exploring this fascinating and unique part of the country.

Only stayed one night in the self contained cabin. It was spacious, clean and well equipped. Its not a five star hotel, but then your'e on a farm in the middle of nowhere and to be honest the cabin was perfect to relax and unwind after a day out and about - would have been happy to spend a few nights here had we had time. The family running the place were really friendly and the atmosphere was good. The weather was stunning when we stayed, meaning fantastic clear views of Mt Cook. And when you factor in the price, its a steal. Definitely one of the better places we stayed during our trip.

We spent a night in this B&B. The room was big and clean and we had a very good rest after a hard day doing lots of things. The common room to have breakfast is very nice and comfortable. Sean is an amazing person which was very nice and helpful. It was very fun and interesting talking to him in the morning about lots of things, while he cooked the best omelette I have ever tasted. I strongly recommend this place to anyone visiting mount cook o travelling from Quenstown to Christchurch and willing to spend a night midway.

This was a beautiful place to stay. The breakfasts were different to your typical eggs on toast with homemade banana bread and savoury scones. The rooms are spacious and warm during winter and on a clear day the mountain views are amazing. If you stay in Twizel I would suggest coffee at Poppies. We also went to the Salmon farm near by and were able to take it back to the B&B and cook a nice fresh meal. Mt Cook is only a 45min drive away.

Nicola was the perfect host. We were looking for somewhere peaceful to relax for a few days after the stresses of a family wedding in Christchurch. Omahau Downs was one of the best places we stayed at during our two months in New Zealand. No hesitation in recommending this hotel.
