When looking for vacation spots, we always look for out of the way places. Navutu Stars really fit the bill. It is a beautiful out of the way small resort. I think the maximum amount of guest is 20, so it's very quiet and secluded. The staff is just amazing and the food was magnificent. There are daily activities scheduled, but if there is something else you would like to do, they will make it happen. We planned one day with a private picnic to the south end of the island which we had all to ourselves. We snorkeled on one of the most beautiful reefs that we've ever seen. We very rarely go to the same place twice, but this is one that we will definitely be returning to.

We recently stayed at Navutu and it was a truly wonderful experience! We were greeted by the team and met the managers Jeff and Colleen on arrival with a welcome song. After a quick introduction on all activities available, we were quickly brought to our room which was right on the beach. Room was spacious with a daybed and hammock outside, perfect for relaxation! Even though there is no airconditioning, the bures have high ceiling and windows on all sides so it was nice and cool - and we enjoyed the fresh air as well!

All meals were excellent and HUGE in portion. Menus were simple but with good choices, and we highly recommend the Yasawa lobsters which are so fresh and tasty. Even simple things like muffins during breakfast, bruschetta at lunch and pasta at dinner - everything tasted so fresh!

We joined a day trip out to the limestone caves which as approx 30 mins by boat away - highly recommended as the area was so untouched with beautiful coral reefs outside for snorkelling after. At the hotel there is also daily excursion to beaches around and also local village visit. Unfortunately we didnt manage to see that as we've enjoyed spending time at the resort.

We would love to come back in the future, as the staff has taken great care with warm and friendly hospitality from the moment we arrived. Dont miss this gem in the Yasawas!

My now husband and I, we're looking for a place to get married in Fiji. After searching for days we finally found the perfect place. Navutu stars is a beautiful tranquil but at the same time with plenty of optional activities to do during the day.
We both had travel very much to amazing remote islands around the world in Seychelles and Thailand and had very high expectations. Navutu was the magical place for our wedding.
We could not have found a more romantic warm welcoming beautiful place for an intimate wedding.
Our highlights of our stay was definitely the staff in general and particularly Callin, the assistant to the manager. She is a wonderful person who helped us arrange everything for our wedding.
Our favourite activities were the caves and spearfishing. Furthermore I would advise to take the kayaks and kayak around the islands the coral around the island is beautiful bright blue, pink and purple.
Navutu is the ideal location for couples, wedding honeymoon, anniversary.

We were looking to truly get far far away from our stressful every day lives, and found it at Navutu Stars. After having stayed at another resort which felt a little bit like a cruise on land where everyone was herded to communal style meals every day, three meals a day, with the same menus, we arrived at Navutu Stars. This understated, elegant resort was so peaceful, we finally said aaaahh....Unlike our previous resort where you could see and hear everyone in the next cottage, the Navutu Bures were so well spaced apart at our end(not facing the mangroves), you can't see and could barely hear your neighbors. It's like you had the island all to yourself.

We were warmly welcomed with beautiful tropical drinks, and tons of flowers which were beautifully laid out everywhere in our bure. We wished they would have left some on the trees/bushes and kept the gardens more lush though. The bures were so spacious with beautiful authentic Fijian-beamed 20-30ft ceilings. But with full sun, we also thought it wasn't a good idea for them to whitewash the entire floor and terrace because it was too bright. A light sand color would have been easier on the eyes for guests to enjoy the room. The terrace was spacious but the bench available could have been more inviting. To be fair, we had own hammocks we enjoyed on the beach steps down from the bure.

Most other guests were either honeymooner or couples on romantic getaway. That said, these bures are really meant only for two. Even if a child was to sleep on the 2 ft wide, thin cushions of the sitting area, with concrete floors it wouldn't be recommended. An adult would definitely not be comfortable, even a small adult.

The food at this resort is good compared to the all-inclusive whether you want to eat or not at our other resort. The nice thing is that this resort gives you a choice, pay 2 or 3 meals a day or ala carte. We did both during our stay and realized it all adds up to about the same. They are so nice, they allow you to change your mind either direction. That's good service. Lovo night was especially delicious. Their fish in coconut milk was so good we wished Lovo night occurred more than once a week.(At our previous resort, it was bland and watered down - I could make it better at home without effort). The bartender Suvi is a class act as was Appie who filled in on Suvi's day off. This is where guests who wanted to socialize a bit gathered before dinner each night. All couples were so nice to meet. Not just Aussies and Kiwis like other resorts but from Europe and North Americans as well. Other than that, we didn't have to make small talk with people just to be polite because we were there to spend quality time with each other, not strangers. So they set up table in for two's (and fours if people wanted to socialize. Very perceptive of the staff ;), unlike other resorts where everyone was always in your proximity at large table whether you like it or not.

The weather was overcast when we were there so the water wasn't clear blue as one would expect or hope for but looked more like a lake, and snorkeling wasn't the best though there were many cream and brown-striped fish to see without snorkeling close to shore. Seruvi is helping the reef replenish itself with coral gardening. If you get a chance to talk to him after going out to help him with coral gardening, do - you'll learn a boat load. We also met Christelle, one of the resort managers. She is also a sweet wealth of worldly knowledge. Even the accountant was great, super friendly. Our bill was perfet (unlike the previous resort which overcharged us and we had to take 20 minutes out of our holiday to get it corrected).

For some true Fijian culture, there's village visits, one of the perks of stayin on Yaqeta Island as opposed to those empty ones investors build to corral tourists. And you wonder why some of us shun the Maldives. We were lucky enough to go twice with Akai and Seruvi and met their beautiful children in the village. We enjoyed learning about the local education system and hearing the kids sing. We heard it's expensive to buy and transport school supplies to the island, so we brought some to give to the students. If you get tired of water sports, there's an easy hike up the hill for a view overlooking the resort and water. And be sure to book the complimentary massages. We got Grace and it was so relaxing that I literally fell deep asleep and thought it was 3AM when I awoke. It was 30 minutes after. How much more relaxed can you get than that? I wish I'd gone back for another. The staff really enriched our stay. Thank you all.

One activity we thought they could lengthen was the basket weaving. What could have been shortened was the kava ceremony. Though we enjoyed the music with the staff, it was a bit drawn out for those who didn't want too much kava but wanted to just try it, not drink it again and again.

If you're looking for an low key, intimate, relaxing paradise to relax at, this is a good one.

We recently stayed at Navutu for 5 days. I think the rest of the reviews on this page are accurate - this is an amazing place to stay! Much different than Nadi & Denerau, Navutu gives you a true "island" feel while still being upscale and very hospitable. We enjoyed getting away from the "usual" hotel/resort feel and loved our little bure (#2) which was tucked into deep greenery. The rooms with the thatched roofs were really unique, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom/open layout was really nice. We also really liked the private beach area we had, complete with chairs and a hammock.

The food was good. Overall we found Fijian food a bit bland and very carb-ish, Navutu was no exception - but it was still good, especially for being on a tiny island.

A few tips: the sea plane is a very nice option (we took this home) instead of the ferry. 4 hours on a rough ferry ride (weather dependant) can be tough. The sea plane was 30 minutes and the views of the islands/reefs etc was worth every penny.

FYI - the bures have no a/c - so prepare to be warm! :)

Bring books/games/etc - the resort is relaxing...so if you're used to loads of activity - make your own!

We found food pricey (not surprizing), so were happy to have brought some of our own snacks and also water from the mainland.

Go to the caves if you have the chance. While it's about $50/person, its a very neat excursion and worth the time/$.

Overall, a wonderful place and one we'd go to again!

We recently spent 5 amazing nights at navutu stars. Our highlight was the staff, they are just brilliant and could not do enough for you, they know you by name and make you feel a part of their family. Don't miss the kids choir, they really belt it out and you have time afterwards to talk with them. Navutu has activities on every day which you can choose to enjoy, or you can just relax in your hammock. Lovo night featured some great food and even better entertainment. The food throughout our stay was really good, changed every night and was reasonably priced. The buras are basic, clean and have everything you need. We were very happy with our stay and could not have asked for anything more, we would definitely recommend Navutu stars to anyone who is planning an island holiday.

Wow. There isn't much to add from what Bruce R and TeacherInTransit haven't already said. I feel like we were there with you guys, oh wait... we were. A resort this size certainty allowed us to meet and socialise with other guests of all ages and backgrounds, it added a serendipitous dimension to a wonderful honeymoon of which my wife and I couldn't be happier with.

We spent a bit of time on the mainland as well. In comparison, this resort offered a seeming true and authentic cultural experience. Resorts on the mainland are much bigger and may offer more family based activities and opportunities to get run over by golf buggies if that's what you want. But honestly, there is something about the pace of life on a remote Pacific island that is so welcoming to ones consciousness... stillness, serenity and peace. I didn't even wear shoes at all for 5 days while there, liberating!

The staff and locals are incredibly friendly and kind, they soon become your family away from home. To all the staff, my wife and I thank you very much and we will hope to return sometime in the not too distant future.

Vinaka.
