a great first time stay, room in the 900 block fantastic, with all facilities ,plenty of hooks, shelves and drawers and a great view, close to everything. Golf, a testing little course with crocodile grass.(grabs your ball) Pools great and the beach. A must visit, the eco-marine school ,behind the canoe hire, for all families, make new coral reefs as part of your stay. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: couple and adult only rooms in the 900 block, close to adults only pool and restaurant

My family stayed for 6 nights in Superior Family Lagoon room. I had originally booked Ocean view room and thanks to a review I read in this website Trip advisor where it was suggested we stay at garden/lagoon side if you have young kids I id transfer my booking to garden/Lagoon room. The location of your room is important if you have young kids and staying in Lagoon wing was great decision as it was close to all restaurants, kids club, the beach, kayaking every thing was five minutes from our room, also specifically asking for Ground Floor helped as you had the huge garden right at your door step avoiding walk up and down everyday.

We had stocked up well from Nadi Supermarket before arriving at resort, thanks to trip adviser reviews. The fridge was not working when we checked in but was replaced with new one very quickly on calling operator.

The food is indeed expensive, not much variety for vegetarians.

The staff are very courteous.

My tip for vegetarians particularly Indians is there is not much options in resort, although the room service and restuarants did go out of way to accommodate our menu but it was passable and price is high.

It was after the 4th day of stay as we speak Hindi we started taking a cab from resort to Sigotoka town costs $36FJD and enjoyed local vegetarian cusine at Go Kools, Shiva and Hare Rama , Hare Krishna Temple. The food is simple and delicious. With taxi and food for 4 our cost was only $60 to 70. In the resort the bill would stack up to minimum $120 plus as each dish is not less than $30FJD.

The only thing I did not like was a $10 FJD Village fund sneaked into the Bill when I was checking out and on pointing out they mentioned it was optional and was removed promptly, but honestly when you are given a three page bill after six days stay you easily miss this entry. It was not the amount which bothered me but the way the hotel cashier had tucked it in and I am sure most guests don't realise.

The lagoon is pristine, pool amazing and staff very friendly. It is a safe and great place for kids, the staff at kids club are outstanding. The buffet is so good.

Room Tip: If with young family stay in Lagoon/Garden side of the complex

This is our third trip to this resort and sixth to Fiji overall.
Our last visit was in 2010 and it was fantastic. This time there was a lack of atmosphere. The "ambassadors of fun" just walk around and yap to each other and don't engage the customers.
One of the highlights used to be the continuous invitation for people to join games various but that has disappeared.
Overall disappointing stay in comparison to the past

A great place for our 10 year anniversary. The staff and location are awesome. We went as a couple and although the place is very popular for families we found plenty of quite places away from kids. The location is beautiful and their is lots to do without having to take heaps of tours.

Food and beverages are pretty expensive at the resort so budget accordingly or get an inclusive package.

Suggestions:
- Embrace "Fiji Time". Their is no need to rush.
- Their is limited WiFi around the resort so would get a local sim at the airport.
- Go to Sigatoka as soon as you can to stock up on drinks and nibbles to save some dollars.
- The train tour at the front of the resort is a cheap but great trip to take.
- Get to know the local staff, they are great people, friendly, knowledgeable and proud of their country, you can learn a lot.
- Take your snorkelling gear

You get what you pay for....DON'T get sucked in to thinking a package at this hotel is a good deal.
Rooms outdated, food overpriced, staff very unhappy....a bogans paradise, full of loudmouth bogans with low expectations. ..this resort should definitely not be able to use the shangri la name.
Thank gosh I was not married here..I would have been humiliated to drag guests from Australia to spend a week in that tip.

My partner and I stayed 10 days at the Shangri-La Fijian Resort recently in a superior room which was perfect for the 2 of us. The resort is some what dated and showing signs of its age - there are rumours of a huge refurbish in the near future - $175 Million.
We arrived late so we decided to get Room Service - unfortunately this let us down flavourless chicken curry and Pizza - we didn't try again.
This is a wonderful place to stay as it caters for both families and couples - having an adults only restaurant and pool to escape the kids if you want. The food at the 4 restaurants at night was a little bit of a let down to me in regards to quality and price. We found a couple of good local restaurants close by that we frequented. The breakfasts were great offering a huge variety to suit all tastes - the only problem being after a few days you get a little bored of them.
Snorkelling was our main activity which was excellent for corals and fish in the lagoon just off the sandy beach but there were plenty of other choices including swimming in the resorts 3 pools, diving, water skiing, banana boat rides, parrasailing, sunset cruises, bush walking, golf, tennis and a good gym as well as organised events for the kids each day.
There is also a torch lighting and kava ceremony and you can pay to go to the onsite village where you can see all the local dancing and fire twirling and have a Lovo dinner if you wish.
The staff were all friendly and happy to help you out in any way they could - I did tire a little bit of the 'Bulla' every time you passed someone though but that is just custom. The only real downer was in the housekeeping where for some unknown reason we only got a turn down service twice in our stay and also for some unknown reason there was always some discrepancy in what was replaced or not meaning sometimes we were missing face washers or bath mats or soap etc.

Anyway it was the type of holiday where you could do as much or as little as you wanted which was just what we needed. I would be happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: The Golden Cowrie rooms are the closest to everything and still have ocean views I would stay here n...

Had a great time at shangri-la fiji. Staff are so friendly and go out of their way to assist you. We stayed in a executive suite which was big enough for 2 adults and 3 kids. Housekeeping did a wonderful job cleaning the room everyday, and at night too they would pop in a have a quick clean up. The black marlin bar was great as kids allowed till 9pm and the dj would play along with the kids. For breakfast there is a large selection of food to choose from the buffet, lagoon terrace also has buffet at night which is the most popular restaurant esp for people with kids. the hotel grounds are immaculate the staff do a great job everyday keeping the place looking lovely. They work so hard. Enjoyed the activities they had on offer, some complimentary, others require payment. Would def reccommend the dinner meal plan as some of the restaurants are quite pricey and the plan covers dinner and drinks to a certain value would have been way more expensive without it. Def reccommend this place it has everything ya want in a holiday resort in fiji.

Room Tip: we stayed in 500's rooms they are def quieter but further to walk to restaurants and attractions
