We spent 6 nights at Novetel Suva, nice and quiet just away from town, novotel bus goes to town everyday.Breakfast and dinner very good (rice very cluggy, more like paste),as we are accor members we had a great room overlooking water on top floor, pool and lobby nice to relax, room cleaned everyday.Only couple of minor problems with this resort is we could not get pool towels for 6 days after asking each day,may need to purchase more to accommodate, also check your bill at the end as double charges appear when not purchased, overall lovely place to stay with 2 kids.New years eve was very boring we expected maybe better entertainment to relax ,each other night was great, its like everyone vanished, was in bed by 10 pm.

Room Tip: Room 412 on the top floor last room

Dear Wayne053

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Novotel Suva Lami Bay, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us.

The resort is indeed a quiet place and unfortuntely or fortunately even so on NYE despite the best of efforts in previous years. Thank you for your contsructive feedback regarding the food - this will be used a s a training tool for our Chefs. Also the high usage of towels over the holiday period did catch us out from time to time - rest assured however we will be taking the appropriate action in the future to ensure guests do not have such delays in the future.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Novotel Suva again in the near future.

Great spot, relaxing without the hussle & bussle of Suva. I stayed just after the cyclone hit in Dec 2012 and the staff hotel managed amazingly without power ect.The food was delicious with great views while dining at the restuarant. Thanks to all the staff :-)

Dear KC82Darwin_Aus

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Novovtel Suva Lami Bay and for posting your review. Indeed Lami Bay is a great spot and yet conveniently close enough to Suva without the feel of bustle of citylife.

We appreciate your comments regarding the power difficulties we faced just after the cyelone - the property does have a generator which does operate when the main power supply if off, unfortunately for us the generator developed a glitch after running constantly for some time and it had to be nursed through. I trust it was not too much of an inconvenience

Thank you again for your comments and we look to see you again soon at Lami Bay.

The view was fantastic, beautiful sunrises and sunsets overlooking the sea and lush tropical vegetation across the bay. The brightly coloured fish in a natural aquarium, the sea below our balcony, was spectacular. A couple of the reception and housekeeping staff worked hard and took pride in the Novotel brand e.g. when the scheduled van going into Suva was full, reception arranged for a taxi to take us in, well done - great customer service. I love Novotel pillows, they are the best. These wonderful experiences were marred by bar staff who failed to bring back change from a drinks order, overcharging of drinks and a seemingly couldn't care less attitude when attention was drawn to these mistakes. Management were unclear about what action they took when this was taken up with them. Lack of consistent supply of clean towels for the rooms and pool. Cleanliness of the pool questionable. Ventilation not working in the bathroom. TV reception poor with no signal especially for those days when the children wanted/ needed to be out of the pool and resting. I expect better from the Novotel brand for a consistency of service wherever I am in the world.

Room Tip: The recently upgraded superior rooms that overlook the bay get fantastic sun if you're a sun wor...

I spent 6 days with my family at Lami Bay and found despite it being a 4 star hotel there were certain areas I found lacking.
The general maintanence was poor. There was a very mouldy smell in our room and I noticed the shower recess was very mouldy, I informed reception of this and about the drawer above the fridge which sat crooked on its tracks. I couldn't open the fridge without removing the entire drawer first. There was an attempt to improve the smell but not fix the drawer or remove the mould.
The service was not great, my husband ordered a meal one night and an hour later when it hadn't appeared we rang to check if it was arriving soon, and was told it hadn't been cooked because it had been forgotten.
There seemed to be a shortage of bath towels and pool towels every time we requested one we were told they were waiting on a delivery, I think it took 10 hours to get a clean towel on one of those days. Now, I don't expect a clean towel every day and we joke about "Fiji time", but this was ridiculous!
The view was the best aspect of the stay and the hardworking staff (who, I think need more help or more pay) the cleaners were often still cleaning at 6pm having started early.
The food was not great we were charged $25 for a continental breakfast on 2 occasions then $15 on 1 occasion, the buffet was poor,e.g. no pineapple or bananas in the fruit section when there was a lot in the local market. The mini bar wasnt stocked and you had to request milk and wait for hours to get it.
Finally the noise from fellow guests was particularly troublesome. It seems a shame that despite the efforts of the staff this hotel falls short of standards one would expect of the Novotel brand. We won't be returning.

What a fantastic view from the rooms and especially from the restaurant. From the outside, the place looked a bit dated but once inside the hotel we were stunned by the beauty of this place!! Food was great and service excellent. I agree with another reviewer - check your bill carefully! We had 2 episodes of very expensive mistakes on bills. Less than F$10 taxi to Suva or 70c by local bus!

This hotel is pretty good value, but the staff were not very efficient. The room was small and was right next to the pool -- basically no privacy. The restaurant was so fabulous, though, because it sits right on the water and has great ambience -- also, the staff in the restaurant were actually really good -- real stand-outs.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor so you aren't next to the pool.

Originally booked for 3 nights but stayed for 7 nights for a friends wedding. The room was excellent and the meals were also really good. Staff at the front desk, bar, restaurant and cleaners were all friendly and very helpful. Some things took a bit longer than normal but I was happy to be on Fiji time.
However when it was time to settle the bill that's when the problems started. My bill was supposed to include breakfast and was fairly easily fixed however almost every bill in our group was overcharged. this mainly occurred where people had paid online when they booked but were than charged again. The friend who got married then spent more than 6 hours sorting out the bills for everyone in the group. To compensate, free meals were offered by the manager however after the order was made this offer was withdrawn and management then became very heavy handed.
It was really disappointing to finish off the stay on such a sour note because the rest of the time it had been excellent.

At Novotel, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us, we will pass on your comments to the team regarding your appreciation of their friendly service. Please rest assured that we regret the confusion that arose from the "billing" scenario with the groups accounts - also in relation to the offer that was withdrawn - this offer was confused and misunderstood as to the value and quanity of the free meals. I am confident that a satisfactory outcome was reached and a fair amount of compensation for the inconvenience was awarded.
