Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau Island
Ranked #2 of 8 Hotels in Denarau Island
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 28, 2009

The service was very good and freindly. The rooms were clean and in a good state, with all the mod cons. Well located in denarau, with bus services to the port and other hotels. The pool (including the little water slide was great for the kids, and the meals offered were good and affordable compared to the surrounding hotels. I will stay there again.

Our family (incl. two kids aged 6 and 8) spent 7 nights at this hotel and we thoroughly loved our time there.
We booked two interconnecting as both our mums travelled with us as well. The rooms (lagoon view -recommend this to the sea view/garden view) were modern, spacious and of a high standard (each had their own balconey).
It overloked a magnificent tropical setting with lots of palm trees, giant waterfall and free from pools. There was also a water slide to keep the kids and adults entertained.
The hotel is absolutely next to the Wyndham Trend West and Sheraton owned hotels and very close to the golf course which also has a driving range.
The Denarau open air shuttle bus (blue coloured with thatched roof) does a frequent (every 10 to 15 min) run to each hotel in the Denarau Island and the Port Denarau Marina where there are numerous shops and eateries. This costs FJD6.00 per adult for whole day use and is a good way to visit and explore each hotel.
Don't confuse this with the free open air Bula bus (pink coloured) which does the frequent run only between the three affliated neighbouring Sheraton owned hotels.
Also you can use the free Port Denarau closed bus which operates every 30 minutes and picks up from outside certain hotels only (luckily, Radisson).
Taxi fare to Nadi town is around FJD12.00-15.00 although the visit may not appeal to everyone as it is mainly geared for the locals with a few modern shops selling tourist items, however, internet access rates are a hell lot alot cheaper compared to the rates offered by the hotels or shops at the Port Denarau marina.

The staff were extremely pleasant and thoughful.
Be prepared to be greeted by a Bula! (hello in the native fijian) at each of the hotels when you pass one of the staff.

Whilst the Radisson is pretty impressive in looks and layout you may as well be on the Gold Coast in Australia, it is a bit of a concrere jungle, personally I would not bother to fly 4 hours to Fiji and stay here for my whole holiday.
The staff were ok, they had been told to look after guests (except the front desk staff who were basically incompetent in organising rooms for arriving guests, which I would have thought was their main job! waiting 5+ hours to get a room in an international chain hotel is not acceptable, the only way we got into the room was because the duty manager overheard us pleading with them to sort it out). We have also travelled all over the South Pacific so do understand "Island Time" but these lot take it to another level!
Food was ok, pools looked nice but basically overrun with Aussie families with kids (no disrespect intended as they have to holiday too) - but if you want the real Fiji then get out of Denarau and go to an island. The Denarau marina was nothing special either. Next time we would spend the money to get the water taxi straight to an island.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel/. our room was ready by 12midday and serviced daily including a turn down service,,which i thought was lovely but not necessary. the staff are incredibly helpful and quick to offer assistance and there are alot of staff on duty all the time. i found the service to way outshine the service in Australia. the choice of food is great as you can visit other resorts close by for variety but value for money is certainly the best at Radisson where you pay around $20 aus dollars for a buffet dinner which has great choices and you can find things for the kids to eat and they only charge for kids who are 4 and over $1 per year which is really reasonable. The pools are by far the best at Raddison for kids . the beach is average..as the sand is not quite white but kids had fun drawing on the sand. Breakfast was included for us and was lovely everyday with lots of choice. Denarau port is not great.

We have stayed at your hotel for 6 nights and 7 days.
Overall really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very child friendly which made the stay very pleasant and will recommend to people with kids
We were disappointed in some cases which we feel we need to share
1. When we arrived the wrong room was given as we had paid extra to stay in an ocean view suite which took ages to be resolved .We were able to move the next day it took the staff all day to arrange ,nothing was done unless we asked for it a couple of times which was annoying as you guys made the mistake you hould be the ones trying to resolve asap. The room was available at 5pm !!!! I have two kids under the age of 5 so it was very hard not having a room for the whole day .No one advised us that the room was ready we had to ring and go to the reception to find out ourselves then the baggage wasn't transferred so we had to wait for that too..then the cards didnt open the door once then twice and then the third trip to resolve the issue was really annoying
2. Our little girl had an accident on her bed,and we requested the sheets to be changed and found out that the same sheets were used to make the bed !!!5 star?? maybe not !!very frustrated !
3.The food overall could have been better ,one example the stir fry vegetable chicken on the lunch menu, I ordered and couldn't find more than 3 diced pieces of chicken in the stir fry
4.It is stated that the kids menu is $1 for their age yet we were charged $4 for every meal our 2 year ate...you might want to change that to minimum of $4 just to stop further confusion
The pool was great very clean and child friendly
Staff needs to be a bit aware of whats going on around you need to poke them to get things happening
The room curtains were very smelly !
The best staff in your hotel whom were very friendly but not fake and did their job very good
were Unaisi and SHalini in the open buffet section
Why do I need to pay extra for the coffee paper cup??Why can I not drink my coffee in a cup??
Other than a couple of bad incidents it was a pleasant stay, many thanks

We stayed there 14-18th October 2009, we went there for wedding research purposes. We got the "stay for one and get the other night free deal".
When we arrived at about 11am the rooms were not ready and we were told that wouldn't be ready till 3pm. Which was fine so we left our bags in their able hands and went for a walk-about on Danerau Island.
We rode the bula bus to Port Danerau which is $6 FJD a day, they come frequently and stop at all resorts along the Danerau strip. Radisson is the 2nd resort to be picked up so when it gets to Radisson the bus is empty, unlike when we caught it from Sheraton and we had to wait 6 buses queueing to get on one.
Our rooms were great for what we paid but the the fan in our bathroom did not work properly (which is minor), and they had not arranged for the beds to be made into their super king (again very minor) because the ladies came up quickly to address any issues we had. But in saying that, you're not really in your room much anyway.
We found out that you can catch a $5 FJD cab down to the port one way, or you can catch the free bus from the Radisson which only stops at 2 other stops.
The pools at the Radisson are by far the BEST! Truly! Every resort is a family resort so there are kids everywhere but they not crowding you or anything but if you're not a kiddy person this is not the island for you.
Neptunes serves tasty (but fatty) chicken and chips, fish and chips for $16 FJD which is a hell of alot cheaper than most places.
They had 2 for 1 cocktails at 2-3pm, 5-6pm and 9-10pm. The only let down is that they don't have night time entertainment. We went to the Sheraton's Chime bar to watch their live band.
Everyone is genuinely nice and welcoming.
We did a cruise called the Whale's Tale $179 FJD which is a MUST DO so worth it.
Radisson also has NZ Naturals which is a plus so all in all excellent facility!!!
The service people not only cleaned our room and mopped it they also folded our clothes. The porters are AWESOME too!!

We stayed here in october for 10 nights and were very pleased! My husband and I travelled with our 2 year old daughter and stayed in a 1 bedroom suite.
The suite is beautiful and enormous - a decent sized lounge/dining/kitchen area with a sliding door to the bedroom. The bedroom itself has a huge bed - very comfortable too. The kitchen has a dishwasher, small stove, full fridge and fully stocked crockery/cutlery. The bathroom is very modern with a great shower. There is even a washing machine and dryer in the suite and this was very handy. Washing powder is provided. Both the living area and the bedroom have plasma tvs and separate a/c units. We had a cot for our daughter and she would sleep in the living area so she wouldn't be disturbed by us at night.
The pool complex is amazing - we made great use of all the pools. Yes, it was busy, but we weren't there for serious laps or anything so this really didn't hamper our experience.
Food: pretty good value compared to the other resorts around. Brekkie is not a full buffet, but there is all the cereals, breads, juices, fruit etc as well as eggs and pancakes cooked to order. There is a kids lunch menu - you pay a dollar per year of your child's age, starting at $4 (thats Fiji dollars) - pretty cheap! Dinner time - there is a buffet every night, opens at 5.30pm at Nautilus restaurant - great for the kids - again you pay according to your child's age. For adults, its about $35. Other restaurants: Neptunes - pizza, an Asian rest., Cross (fine dining). One thing - Do not eat at the Westin - terrible food!!
Babysitting is super cheap - $24 for 1st 3 hrs minimum. We took advantage of this every night - put our daughter to bed after her buffet dinner, got the babysitter in and went out for dinner.
We found our experience with the staff amazing - they were very friendly and pleased to help.
Note to travelers without kids: This is a very kid friendly resort. If you want a romantic getaway - go elsewhere, rather than complain about the kids!!
