“Wouldnt Stay anywhere else”
Reviewed September 18, 2008

We stayed at the Radisson for 5 nights in September 08 and loved it. With two young children 4 years & 18 months we found that the one bedroom lagoon suite with king bed was plenty big enough with views over the pool and out to the ocean. The kids had a ball in the pool and in particular on the water slide. There was an adults pool and spa as well which was a nice escape. Great location with the bula bus travelling around denarau so you could visit other resorts as well. The beach was not like those in Australia and looked slightly muddy, however the pool was so large that we had no desire to swim in the ocean anyway. Room Service breakfast was expensive and I cant comment on the food in the restaurants at the radisson as we didnt eat there. Food in the resorts was slightly more expensive than if you ate at the Port. We found most of the food to be on par with what we pay in nice restaurants in Australia. I have also been to Bali & Thailand and nothing in Fiji was overly cheap. We hired a car for the duration of our stay and visited villages and travelled down the Coral Coast visiting some of the resorts along the way such as the Naviti , Warwick & Shangra-lai. These resorts were nice however they were too isolated for us. Once you were in the resort you would have to stay there and it was also about 1 1/2 hours out of Nadi. We went to Natadola Beach which was lovely and you could go for a horseride on the beach and the girls got their hair braided. The fijian people were just beautiful and loved the kids. Kids club at the radisson was great. They took kids from around 4 years and you could put them in from 9am - 1pm, 2pm - 5pm & 5.30pm - 10pm all for $20.00. They were wonderful with the children. Each night the resort has a torch lighting ceremony and during our stay we also went to a fijian floor show and kava ceremony. I also saw on the activities board they did basket weaving & aqua aerobics amongst other things. We went on the Sagatoka River Safari which was the highlight of our stay in fiji. It was absolutely fantastic.

Excellent hotel, newest on Denarau and great for kids. Rooms are spacious. We had a Garden one bedroom suite which had bedroom plus living room with sliding wall. TVs in both rooms and sofabed in the living room for our daughter (3 1/2). The pools are large and a big plus for the kid was the sloping 'fake beach' edge. Only one restaurant which was ok but not fantastic. Staff all very friendly and the kids club operates all day and cheap babysitters a call away. Fantastic with kids but if you're a couple I'd go somewhere else.

This hotel was recommended to me by a cousin of a friend who travels to Fiji quite often. My family and I considered different areas of Fiji. Denereax Island seemed like it had the most to offer in the way of options and didn't require hours of travel to get there. About 20 minutes or so from the airport.

I found the staff there to be incredibly nice. They were always helpful and asking if we needed anything. We arrived on the only daily US flight in (5:30 a.m.) without our bags (lost compliments of United!). The hotel worked to get us a room as soon as possible. In the meantime, they directed us to their gym where we could shower and freshen up and suggested places where we could go to get a few necessities. When the bags were delivered to the hotel the next day, they immediately delivered them to our room.

The room more than met my expectations. It was large, clean and we had the choice of air conditioning or fan. Being one that hates air conditioning this was a welcome option! Overall the hotel was quiet and very relaxing. I liked that ever y two rooms had their own foyer so that you didn't have or hear people walking past your room. It also allowed extra security (although I never felt I needed it since there was a door to the area and then an entry door for each room).

The grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. I loved that there were several pools -- adult only, family, water slide, jaccuzzis, etc. We never had a problem getting a lounge chair. The beach isn't the "white beaches" you see on post cards but it wasn't bad. If it is white sandy beaches you want, you'll need to travel to one of the more remote islands. The staff was really helpful with the water equipment that was free to use.

They have a nice bar and the staff is prompt with service. You rarely have to wait long for someone to ask you if they can get you something. I highly recommend watching the dancers at night and the kava ceremony.

The only "complaint" if you can call it that is that the food is very much catering towards the Australians and New Zealanders who tend to be the biggest tourist group in Fiji. (most likely due to their close location). It wasn't bad, it was just not my kind of food. We took the Bula bus from hotel to hotel and to the port for meals. The Sofitel by far had the best food for this very picky American! As a side note, if at the port, definitely visit Amalfi's for dinner. Wonderful, fresh Italian food and an owner who genuinely cares about his guests!

This is a great location. We took tours from our hotel to visit the other islands (some of which had a bit more rustic accommodations than I liked, and was thankful we were not staying there). None took all that long. We were close to port so we could take the boat to the other islands which was really convenient.

Our flight did not leave until 10 p.m. and check out was at 11:00 a.m. We were able to swim, shower and actually get in a full day of actiivity due to the hotels shower/gym set up. We had ordered a cab for our ride back to the airport and the staff was right on top of making sure it was there for us when we were ready.

Long story short, Fiji has an island and hotel for every travel style. If you are looking for friendly staff, great rooms and exceptional grounds and at a reasonable price, this is the place for you. I highly recommend it.

  • Disliked — the food catered to much to the New Zealanders and Australians

We stayed at the Radisson Hotel from Aug 12-Aug 17. It was absolutely wonderful and I strongly recommened the hotel to anyone looking to stay on Denarau Island.

First, upon our early arrival, the staff were warm and welcoming. Although our room was not ready yet (which no fault to them, it wasn't expected to be as we arrived at 5am) the staff offered to take our bags and directed us to the hotel dining area. They also gave us swimming towels and showed us where we could shower/freshen up until our room was ready.

Upon getting our rooms, the rooms were flawless. They were very clean and everything was in order. The cleaning staff was so friendly and they were very responsive to our needs. Our room was cleaned every morning by 10am (i know this is dependent on where your room is etc..) but it was great. On occassion we had to ask for pool towels, but that really is a minor thing.

The dining facilities at the hotel were mediocre. With only one dining choice, it was a bit limited. The food was pricey, but it was right on par with the other prices throughout denarau (EXPENSIVE). The breakfast buffet was nice as you could have omelets or waffles made, and the dinnr was decent. They also had pizza which was pretty good, but considerably cheaper if you ordered it to go. Although the dining choices were a bit limited, it wasnt a big deal as you could EASILY go to one of the other hotels [i recommend the sofitel] or you could take the bula bus into port denarau.

The pools were beautiful, and as crowded as the hotel was, i never saw very many people on the property. The pool had plenty of room to swim around in and not feel crowded, and the adult only pool was very nice. There was also a swim up bar that was very nice as well.

Everynight they had a torch lighting ceremony and a fire dance and traditional dance show. It was nice and was something fun to watch while sitting in the lounge.

The property was also very clean. I always saw workers in the early morning cleaning the pools or grounds, and the plants looked well maintained.

As others have mentioned, thebeach area is not what one thinks of when they think of fiji. There is definitely notclear blue water, but you wont really find that anywhere on the main land. However, the beach was much better than expected. There was plenty of area to lay out and the water was quite warm. There was a swim area which we swam in. The hotel has free use of kayaks and hobiecats, and it was always very easy to go get one. Although the beach isnt spectacular, it was by far the best out of the other hotels on denarau island.

The thing that really made the radisson was the people. The people were beautiful and wonderful. They were all friendly and gracious, and would help you in any way that you needed help. The tour desk was always staffed and always helpful. THey constantly had waitresses around the pool taking drink orders.
The front desk was very helpful with answering questions, especially regarding the bill and helped us to remove a charge. The people really were wonderful.

Upon check out, the staff held our luggage and called a taxi to take us to the airport. It was a really convient ordeal and overall very easy to check out.

Overall, the hotel is great and i would recommend it to anyone going to Fiji. Of course, it depends really what you're going to fijj for [which if its clear blue water and white sandy beaches then don't stay on the main land]. But if you want to be close to the port and to downtown nadi and the sights, staying on denarau at the radisson is PERFECT.

Excellent experience and will most definitely return!

We loved the resort, we loved the staff, everything about it was top class. We had read a couple of reviews that were not the best, but have now decided those people would never be satisfied no matter what, all the staff could not do enough for you, always with a smile and a friendly" BULA", all in Fiji time, but hey, you're on holiday!!! Relax and unwind a little!!!!

My husband, 15month daughter & I stayed at the Raddison for 12 nights in a 1 bedroom villa (had a kitchen & washing machine & dryer). The villa was great, enough room, modern, huge bed, nice bathroom and a balcony with a view over the pools. Fijian Staff are very friendly and helpful. Internet service in the room wasn't great. Housekeeping service was great. The pool area is fantastic - has a waterslide for kids, seperate pool area for adults only, the pools are lagoon style so some sand for kids. There are about 5 or 6 pool areas all sort of joined. Also has a pool area for bubs. Is right on the beach at Denaru but the beach is not for swimming really as it's not crystal clear like out at the islands. But close to Nadi for your shopping (souvenirs, clothes and groceries). Food was ok but not enough variety and prices a bit expensive and quality not great. Generally food prices in Fiji in any hotel are expensive but the Aussie dollar does ok against the Fijian dollar so not too bad once converted. We ate at the Sofitel buffet which was great & also at the Noodle Bar at the Hilton -food was also great there. Free shuttle bus on Denaru between all the hotels which is very convenient. Car hire is expensive compared to Australia. Overall I would stay at this hotel again with children. If you are not into kids don't stay here. Also babysitting service is very convenient and inexpensive.

  • Liked — Villa style room oppossed to a hotel room.
  • Disliked — restaurant variety - only one restaurant and food is not fantastic

The decor and experience was amazing for a resort opened only 12 months ago. Having a wonderful kitchen within the unit was excellent not that we had our main meals there. The restaurant and ambience looking over the various pools was superb right on the beach looking towards the sunset. Very friendly staff - two weeks was not long enough and cant wait to return.
