We had a wonderful holiday here and would like to thank the Radisson Blu team for a great 11 night stay.
We received an early check in very gratefully after arriving on an overnight flight. We arrived at the resort at about 8am and had our room at about 10:30. Our late checkout request was also granted, but not without problems on the day. The keys stopped working and people kept knocking on the door asking when we were leaving (three hours prior to the time agreed upon). We are still grateful for this service though.
Yes, this resort is geared towards families. It has great family rooms at reasonable prices. It is not my idea of a relaxing holiday when I have to share a bedroom with my kids. I never saw a child in the adults only area and never saw kids running around 'out of control' -though we never went to Blu for breakfast. Rooms were also mostly quiet. There were A LOT of toddlers at the resort when we were there and it could get noisy - but a bit of tolerance for others is all that is needed.
Staff are great and very polite and engaging. The activities team were amazing with my 7 and 9 year old and kept them entertained for hours with different, constructive activities. Thanks Harry!!
The pool is by the far the best on Denarau and many a happy hour was spent there!
The rooms need some maintenance and they are starting to show signs of wear and tear. Daily room servicing needs to be much more efficient. There is nothing worse than returning to your room at 4:30pm to find the room not serviced and to sit down for a rest to only receive a knock on the door! Not good enough, and it really impacted the comfort of our stay. Something was also forgotten every day (even one day our room was not serviced). It is frustrating to not be able to clean your dishes for lack of resources. I took one star off for this and did consider taking off another star as it really annoyed me - but the resort is too good to be rated three stars.
We had a top level room overlooking the Sheraton and sat on the balcony every night to watch the amazing sunset over the ocean. The rooms are also quieter here away from the pool.
A daily sheet with resort activities is provided each day. This is fantastic and provides information about the free entertainment on offer. Blu held Polynesian and Fijian entertainment nights that were enjoyable.
You can see that the resort is striving for constant improvement. During our stay, the poolside staff were given new uniforms to make them easier to see and identify. This was a small but significant improvement for service in this area.
We were sad to leave and are already planning a return visit. We loved Fiji. Denarau is a great base to see the real Fiji - this is not just the islands, but the people (who I believe are the real Fiji).

Room Tip: High level rooms for quiet. Definitely get a suite.

The resort is situated on Denarau Island, about 20 minutes drive from Nadi airport. We stayed for a week at this resort. On arrival we were greeted by a traditional drum and a very pleasant young lady called Vimmoo who supplied us with a cool fruit drink and a cool towel, both of which were very welcome in the heat. The registration process was conducted efficiently but our room was not ready. We were given a complimentary non alcoholic cocktail whilst we waited about 20 minutes for the room to be available. At 3.45 p.m. after travelling for 8 hours we were not impressed.

We were shown to our room and given a brief description of the layout of the resort. The room was quite spacious with a very large bed. There was a flat screen TV and DVD player. The floor was tiled. The windows had lace curtains and drapes that did not quite fit the windows. There was a small veranda with a table and chair. A bar fridge was situated in the room and tea and coffee making equipment were also supplied. Two large built in wardrobes with plenty of hanging space and hangers took up one side of the room. A self programable safe was contained in one of the cupboards. An emergency torch on permanent charge was in one of the cupboards also a hairdryer and iron. The lighting in the room whilst being plentiful for some reason seemed very dim and it was difficult to read even with every light on. The airconditioning was quite efficient and the large ceiling fan also worked very well.

The ensuite bathroom had a bath with a glass screen halfway along . The shower was fixed and non adjustable. The water was hot but not good pressure. There was a large mirror with side illumination over the washbasin. There were plenty of towels, hand and bath. The usual consumables were supplied and were of reasonable standard. Two complimentary bottles of water were supplied in the bathroom. These were replenished each day. On a couple of occasions during the week we had to ask for the water, towels, facecloths and shampoo. It seemed as if something would be forgotten each day.

The room was cleaned and made up each day but on one day we seemed to have been forgotten and had to ask late in the afternoon to have the room made up. On the last day of our stay I dropped some coins which rolled under the bed. When I checked with the torch to find them I was not impressed with the amount of dust accumulated under the bed. It was obviously more than one weeks collection. The noise level was not excessive within the room at any time.

We had breakfast supplied each morning at the Blu restaurant buffet. There was ample choice to satisfy breakfast needs. Two things spoiled the breakfast. As has been mentioned previously by other reviewers out of control children in the buffet area, handling the food and running around the food areas. As one reviewer said this is not the resort's fault but the parents. The other problem is the large number of Indian Mynah birds which congregate around the dining area. If you leave your food unattended they will eat it like vultures on a kill. I don't know the answer to this problem. We also had dinner on one night in the Blu restaurant. We ordered from the a la carte menu and had Peri Peri Chicken. The chicken when it came was like rubber and bloody. It was well undercooked. A complaint to the waiter had the food taken away and a new meal was supplied. It should not have happened. Undercooked chicken is a health hazard. The replacement meal was fine and enjoyable. We also ate in Cross restaurant (see separate review).

The service in the restaurant was good and the staff generally were very pleasant and helpful.

I have tried to be objective in this review and it may seem that I did not enjoy my holiday. Quite the contrary. I did enjoy my stay at the Radisson and would certainly return. The staff are friendly and helpful and a credit to the organisation. The problems, apart from birds and unruly children, seem to stem form inadequate supervision which can be rectified.

Welcome home was one of the first things that was said to my sister and I as we arrived, tired and ready to relax. This is a place where the high standard can always be expected. So good!
Loved the staff singing and creating a wonderful, fun atmosphere. So professional but sooo friendly too. The restaurant has been improved since my last visit with the food now protected from the birds. Our accomodation was terrific, clean and comfortable beds - oh those beds! Nasty smell from the sink in the bathroom that was not overcome by the plumber... have to do better with this but, not so bad it stopped us from having another wonderful time. Vinaka

A very family orientated resort, great children's pools/slide area and one adults only pool (most of the time), unfortunately, like other reviewers some of the families just let their children behave badly with no parental control (this problem is not of the resorts making). Management staff were excellent and moved us to a quieter room, I would suggest however grouping the families and couples into different areas. Great for families..not for us.

Room Tip: Insist it is in a quiet area, if its important to you. Suites on third level are really nice and worth the extra cost.

Thank you for taking time to write a review for other Tripadvisor members. We certainly appreciate it.

It was pleasing to read that our management team quickly relocated you to a quieter room but was disappointed to read that our resort didn't really suit your requirements. We try to offer services and facilities to suit a range of guests needs - I do hope you utilised our Adults Only pool area and child free breakfast seating area if families with young children were detracting from your enjoyment.

I hope that you have some fond holiday memories of your stay with us.

Our 1st visit to Fiji. This was just a transit stop for 2 nights. Our room was excellent, beautifully furnished and clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. The resort had suffered some damage from the recent cyclone and repairs were under way, but apart from the scaffolding in place, the work was not intrusive and the workmen very polite and friendly. The resort was fairly busy but even so it was generally quiet on an evening. There were 3 pools, 1 of which was adults only which was great but perhaps not as great as it could have been as situated right next to the family pool. The grounds were beautifully kept.
Went for an afternoon visit to Denarau Port. This is advertised in the in-flight magazines as THE place to visit and shop - er not really - not a lot there. Only 1 restaurant describing itself as authentic Fijian cuisine (which we ate at) don't really want to see Hard Rock cafe etc when I'm going on holiday abroad...
Wouldn't want to stay here long term as its just a resort, nice though it is, but with children probably ideal. Water etc cheaper from the hotel shop than in the room and a little cheaper at the supermarket in Denarau port but then you have the bus fare on top to account for, so unless you're going there anyway just obtain from the on site store. I never understand why hotels charge extortionate bar prices - do they ever sell anything out of the mini bar? I just wonder how much stuff goes out of date - fast turnover small profit surely more cost effective???
My husband upgraded our room to a small suite with sea view. It had a kitchen, sitting room and laundry facilities.
On one of our nights they had a buffet meal - excellent value for money - go very hungry to do it justice. Our second night we had food from the room service menu - ok but I wouldn't recommend it.from choice.

My only complaint was If you wanted to watch a movie on the tv there was a fee payable and it was not cheap. Didn't effect us but might if you had bored children.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite - has cooking facilities, fridge etc.

Warm greetings dolly070759

We are certainly glad that you chose Radisson Blu as your 2 night stopover on your first trip to Fiji and thank you for your positive review.

Many guests find our location and comfortable rooms an ideal stopover either before or after visiting one of Fiji's beautiful islands. I am pleased that you enjoyed the luxury of our one bedroom suite and our buffet dinner in Blu as well as our well maintained grounds.

We certainly look forward to welcoming you back again at some point and in the meantime,
