“Family Stop Over”
Reviewed December 30, 2011

Our family of 5 with three teen age kids just returned from five days on Denarau Island. We stayed in a two bedroom lagoon suite. Rooms 388 and 387 were on the third floor with the balcony facing the ocean. They were the best rooms in the resort! The kids room was two twin beds with a pull out couch. That room could be joined by a foyer area that would close and lock for flow between the two rooms if desired. Our room 388 was a king bed, huge bathroom and kitchen with 6 person table! We found the extra cost we very worth it for these nice rooms. I did ask for a third floor room facing the ocean. If you need to have an ocean front room you may consider the Hilton or Westin as most all the rooms at those resorts do.
Our family travels a lot and this resort tried very hard at customer service. We did find you need to place the "service" sign on your door or they won't clean your room.
We found the Cross restaurant to be the best in the resort. Our favorite meal was at Moo Moo's at the Westin. $$$ but worth it for a good meal.
Try plantation island on Cat-Cruise for a smaller family friendly day. The kids loved sailing on a cat.
We did visit all the resorts as you can walk to each very easily via the beach or road and found the Radisson to be the best for kids and active adults of any age. If you want rooms facing the ocean this is not the resort for you but it is the best pool complex on the island. Once you are on Denarau Island no need to leave. Last tip is take a taxi to anywhere on the island for 5 dollars and skip the bus.

Room Tip: Third floor lagoon rooms 387 388 are best in the resort with balcony facing the ocean. Pick a garde...

I stayed at Radisson for 6 nights with a group of about 15-20 of us for my sisters wedding. The stay was good. Neptunes bar serves the best fish and chips and Happy hour at BLU bar is the best. Although when we arrived at Nadi Airport we were told that our bookings were cancelled! When we eventually got to the Radisson the staff didn't know anything about our bookings being cancelled and that everything was fine. When we went to checkout though they rudely told us we had to pay more although we werent told this earlier and our bookings were confirmed under a certain price cheaper than what they were charging us now that we all had to leave. The manager was very rude with no empathy at all towards us. He even threatened to charge all the rooms to my mothers credit card if we didnt pay and blocked our phones from ringing out when we told him we would call higher authorities.
Overall the hotel is beautiful, staff are wonderful except for management.
Sadly, even though we enjoyed our holiday that put a big damper on it and left with a bad experience.

Stayed at the Radisson on the last night of our honey moon in Fiji. They upgraded us to a suite which was lovely. The attention to detail in rooms is wonderful and they made us feel very special. The swim up bar is great in the complex but very very noisy with kids.. This is a fantastic Family hotel but if you are a honeymoon couple its a bit noisy. The cross restaurant was wonderful and the attention to the food amazing. Genuinely one of the best dinners eaten in a long time. The staff at the restaurant were beautiful in every way.
The only few faults I can find with this hotel are that you can smoke outside but in the alfresco bar areas there are no ash trays which is irritating as I dont like to constantly ask all the time. If you let people smoke in areas please put ashtrays out! Also the cost of the cocktails at the swim up bar outside of the happy hour were too expensive.
We also noted that the maintenance staff were adding buckets of chlorine to the pools at the times when they were at there busiest... surely this is a hazard? The early breakfast laid out is so disappointing we just didnt bother as we were travelling business class anyway.
Apart from that room was awesome and overall experience wonderful. Lighting of the garden torches at night is really special touch.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pools are very noisy on the terrace, The Cross restaurant is so worth a trip...

We went with our two young boys for 7 nights. We went 2 years ago so knew what we were in for.

On holidays - how great is it to only think about breakfast (which was always yummy and very fresh) and going to the pool every day !!

We loved the energy of the Kids Club activities staff (especially how they dress the kids up for the torch lighting at dusk) and how our babysitter got along with our kids.

All the staff LOVE kids and know their names better than the parents - a fabulous place to take your kids. Some of the staff remembered our kids from 2 years ago!

We had two favourite staff - Archie the cocktail bar man for the pool. He was professional but had such a great humorous personality. Seru was our other favourite. He is one of the activities staff (and is an ex Fijian Rugby 7's player). He was there every day for the water polo and beach soccer. He is so patient with teaching the kids how to play whilst making sure they are having loads of fun.

Hubby and I took in turns each morning before breakfast to go for a 30 minute run along the beach. What a way to start the morning....

Advice:
1/ When you arrive in Fiji, get your driver to stop near the airport at 'MH Supermarket' and buy all your food/soft drinks etc that you will consume for the week. This was great for us as our kids are constantly eating ! It was also great to buy a ball for the pool, sandcastle set etc really cheap - which we then left it all for the activities staff to use in the kids club.

2/ If you want to go into Nadi town, walk directly outside the resort and catch the yellow bus. It's what the locals use and costs $1FIJI each way. You pay when you want to get off the bus. It's under 15 minutes to Nadi town and they run every 10 minutes. When shopping, we just stuck to the main road even though locals try to coax you to the side streets to 'look at things' they are selling.

3/ If you are catching a taxi from Nadi town, get the shop 'Jacks' to organise it as this will ensure you are getting in an actual taxi (!) AND get the taxi driver to turn the meter on as we were told they must do that now instead of telling you what they want for the trip.

4/ If mossies bite you at home they will find you in Fiji!! We bought a mosquito coil pack and burnt one every afternoon on our patio (as my youngest loved leaving the patio sliding door open!) AND sprayed ourselves before going out for dinner.

5/ Next time we will take a collapsible esky and a freezer brick (or similar) so that when we are at the pool our kids food/drinks can stay cold instead of leaving it back in the fridge in the room. This would be our routine until about 4pm when we would start ordering things from the wait staff! Even by doing this we still spent loads at the resort !!

6/ Have some Fijian pineapple - OMG - it's the best we have every had so we all ate a lot of it!!

7/ It's very easy to 'resort hop' for dinner as it is only a 2 minute walk to the Sheraton (Flying Fish yum yum) and 10 minute walk to the Westin (Moo Moo Restaurant yum yum)

What was different this time to last time was that there is a new GM. He is approachable and was seen daily checking on what is happening around the resort. There is also now a Radisson 100% satisfaction guarantee or you don't pay.

My only small complaints are 1/ Twice my hubby ordered A la-cart at Blu Restaurant but they don't prioritise these meals over the buffet - so he had to wait a long time for the meals. 2/ When leaving, the final bill you are given at the reception desk can be confusing so look at it plenty of time BEFORE checkout so you understand the pages of charges :-)

Room Tip: We like the 'garden' side rooms so that once we leave the pool our kids are not hounding us...

Just returned from 9 nights at the Radisson. Kids just wanted to stay in the pool the entire time and play waterpolo and volley ball. Loved the happy hour in the afternoon at the pool too! Neptunes good to pick up fish and chips and pizza is great. Would highly recommend this resort to families.

We had an excellent time at Denarau Island staying at the beautiful Radisson Resort. It is such a gorgeous place and very suited to families with kids especially. We were two single girls looking for some quiet and relaxation and it was great for that too.We also did lots of water sports, massage, facials etc We visited all the other resorts as well (on the BULA bus - highly recommended) and I think I am right in saying the Radisson is the friendliest resort and you get to experience some of the Fijian culture as well, because they had great cultural programs at night eg dancing, fire throwers etc. You really felt like you were in Fiji compared to the other resorts which were very luxurious but you could be anywhere. The food was excellent, the swim up bar was fabulous and the prices were reasonable. The only people it wouldn't suit is honeymooners.
We also went into Nadi to see how the Fijians live and I would really recommend that as well.
Unfortuantely we had booked a package with Flight Centre (Chermside in Brisbane) and they were completely hopeless- our flight out was cancelled, they didn't help us at all in getting another flight and took 6 months to refund us the money for the flight even though Virgin had refunded them within a few weeks- the staff are totally inept- I would recommend a package but definitely not with Flight Centre (beware Escape Travel at Chermside = also owned by Flight Centre - monopoly anyone??) So find another travel agent.
Luckily I only have only good memories of the holiday thanks to the Radisson Resort.

God where to start... this place is just fantastic! the service is amazing. the rooms are a good size (for my fiance and I), the food is fresh and beautiful... the drinks are reasonably priced (at happy hour) we bought duty free and drank on the back deck of our room before heading out, for an evening which kept the cost down.

The pools are the best in Denarau (you can resort hop to check them all out, but you will always come back to the Radisson pools as they are best of all...) God bless the adults only pool, as there were a few kids in the other pools that may have gotten annoying... But then that in itself is probably a good thing for families, I saw a bunch of families and their kids enjoying their time in the pools, then when the adults got sick of the kids they sent them off to hang out with the daycare-like locals wandering around entertaining them.

We spent 5 days in March and the weather was amazing... even though it was the rainy season it didn't rain once whilst we were there.

We highly recommend it.

Room Tip: The bottom floor away from the pools were nice and quiet.
