“Best Vacation ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2011

I'm 13yrs of age and i stayed at the Hilton with my family (5 of us) in January 2011. I thought it would be good to have a kids point of view of this magnificent resort.
The minute you step into the resort you're greeted with smiles and a luxurious feeling. It's a quick check in and your bags are dropped to your doors immediatly.
The Fijians are sooooo friendly and are always willing to do anything for you (especially our waiter John who works at Nuku Restaurant). You will need to get use to saying "Bula" everytime you see a Fijian, this is part of there warm greeting.
The rooms are large and spacious and very well air-conditioned. The beds are amazing in comfort and you fall to sleep as soon as you hit the pillow. The food from both restaurants is to die for and you will not be let down. The pools are awesome and a really good temperature. Don't forget about the beach which also has warm water. There are lots of activities to do on the beach incuding, parasailing, jet sking tours and many more. I strongly reccomend to go on a snorkelling tour as they are fantastic. The one word to top of this whole holiday was "Amazing". Would defanitly come back again.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel was excellent in almost every way.
Our room (602) was very comfortable and had a very pleasant view across the foreshore and water. It was clean and well equipped. We slept well, but did find the air conditioning system was a little loud even when set to low.

The resort grounds were beautifully designed and maintained. The pool area was very large and catered well for the number of quests.

The restaurant was very nice, but we did find that the kids running around interrupted the experience. The food was high quality.

This resort is fresh and has a new feel about it. Immaculately clean. The rooms is spacious and a pleasure to enter. Nice comfortable bed and pillows. Up to the minute entertainment, including Bose sound system. The pool areas are well spread out and provides for all tastes. It was never crowded. Service in the restaurant was very Fiji, but the food was good. Just a short trip to the Marina to a variety of restaurants to please the palate. Plenty of activies availalbe nearby. We did the jet ski safari - not for the faint hearted! We didn't have the time, but taxi drivers were recommending a trip to the garden of the sleeping giant - lots of beautiful orchids and there is a hot spa nearby (we are told). Drinks and food are a bit expensive there, but that was okay. Staff were very pleasant. Only drawback I could talk about was the shower - we stayed in two different rooms (on the way to the Islands and on the way back) and both times the shower head leaked, reducing the water flow that was already poor. Still, I can recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Book a seaview room - uninterrupted views.

Hi all, this place is great, only my third trip to Fiji but definitely come back to the Hilton. Firstly, the taxi from the airport is actually 30FJD, that's a fair price for 30 mins in a cab.

Once there we were greeted with drinks and a welcoming smile. Our two bedroom breach front villa was perfectly clean and well appointed and definitely 5 star. The room was well serviced and had a turn down service nightly. The grounds of the resort are well maintained and extremely beautiful.

The breakfast was possible the best I have had at a 5 star resort, lots of choice and variety. Would not eat diner their though, food not to bad but a bit pricey, I would recommend the Marina for eating, its much cheaper and has great views. We dined at Lu Lu's, Indigo and Cardo's and they were all very nice and well priced, myself and my wife and two kids costed generally any where from 120 to 180 FJD or 65 to 110 AUD.

A little tip use the taxi to get to and from the marina, at 5FJD each way its cheaper then the bulla bus at 7FJD for an all day pass (kids free) unless of course if you want to travel twice in the one day. The kids club was my two kids favourite, they actually taught the children Fijian words and culture, I must admit I thought the may just watch DVD's. The daily schedule is drafted on a white board in the Kids Club areas and consisted of fish feeding, treasure hunts and arts and crafts (and ice cream time). My two kids loved it, they asked to go back every day, but my wife wanted a family holiday so they had to hang around the pool with Mum and Dad (sorry non parents for the noise).

Speaking of the pools they are big and clean and great to cool off in or sun bake in the beds. We used the kayaks too. Everyone kept telling us the beach sand is not white and the coral coast is better but I liked the private beach and me and the kids did a lot of swimming and build sand castles. We did though take a couple of day trips to the islands (Beachcomber, Cast Away and Plantation). I would recommend the day trips that leave from the Marina, I think Plantation was the best for the day.

As it was my birthday whilst at the Hilton therefore we used the baby sitting service, to my surprise it was on of the ladies from the Kids Club (Sara) who turned up. My kids loved Sara and still talk about her now. Sara played hide and seek and really was interested in my kids. It’s really cheap at 5FJD per hour but please give them a good tip, I think she had a family at home who rely on her income.

Another great tip was the mud baths, bout 45 mins in a taxi or 80FJD for your dedicated taxi who will pick you up and take you to the Forest of the Sleeping Giant and the mud baths, he will wait for you. The mud baths and hot springs were very relaxing and therapeutic. Last tip, if you want pampering you can your the Hilton spa but it was much cheaper down at the Marina.

I could have written about some of the irritants like slow service or how its much cheaper to eat off site but, we were in Fiji for a holiday not to be hotel critics at the resort like some reviews. Hey guys it Fiji and a 5 star resort, you will experience Fiji time and resort priced meals. But it’s all good, you have options.

Overall a great stay at a great resort and I will be back next year.

It is about 15-25mins by taxi depending on traffic. It is supposed to be metered taxis but they aren’t willing to use them as it should cost about FJD 15, but they will often quote higher (double). The hotel has a nice reception and check in was fairly efficient, although early check in wasn’t allowed. We had a oceanview studio, which was a fair sized room but had a musty smell. It had two single beds they had joined together, but they were uneven in the middle so it wasn’t the most comfortable. There was a small flatscreen television offering some international channels (Hindi, French, Fijian and English), but it lost signal on a few occasions. There was a small fridge. The room had patio doors leading out to the garden area with a couple of chairs and a small table and the view of the ocean wasn’t obscured by anything. The bathroom had a modern look with sliding doors of frosted glass to separate it from the room. It had a separate shower area and a bath tub, the tiles in the shower/toilet area were a little dated and had some mould on the grout. There were a few insects, mosi’s and some baby lizards in the room. There is air con in the room as well as a ceiling fan. There wasn’t any free internet/wi fi access which was disappointing. The beach doesn’t have the cleanest water, but the hotel pool is nice and large. It was supposed to have an adults only pool – which wasn’t really adhered to. When it rained we had trouble sleeping as the rain would just spill over from the roofs making quite a noise as there was no guttering/drainpipes. We were called by the reception desk in at 5am in relation to a wake up call we knew nothing about. When we complained we were given a late check out for our departure. There is a marina area with some shops and restaurants (which are obviously cheaper) about a minute walk or about FJD5 (2 mins by car – FJD3 if metered taxi). This was supposed to 5 star – it was nice enough but not quite the 5 star.

We stayed here on return from the Yasawa's for a 3 night/4 day stint. We had many issues, a/c broke twice in one day and the same day the tv and power socket went, plus on arrival toilet light had blown. Had to call reception several times for this to be arranged, once a service man arrived he came and went several times. When we visited reception to organise internet, we saw a couple who had been moved 3 rooms already from issues and still where without a room.

The Nuku restaurant was incredibly overpriced 4 what you got. FJD$170 for two entres and mains of small size and nothing too special about them. A bonus was the breakfast, which was delicious! We made use to the bula bus from that first night onwards and tripped to the port for lunch and dinner.

The room was ok but not as you would expect from the Hilton standard, considering the price of the room! The pool area was not that great, children everywhere around the adult pool. They advise you pick up a towel from the towel stand each day, however when we went to collect ours they had none and were told the man would bring us one, well an hour later and a few swims down we were still without towel and we had to go and ask again. Very simple thing to calculate number of guest vs. number of towels needed!

Beyond this, it was nice to experience a different resort, if you are a family looking for a family friendly resort then I guess this is your go, although go with patience and a wallet full of cash to pay for the expensive restaurant

What a week! The best hotel on Denerau, the best staff on the Island and great pools and weather ;]

Shame about the loud Australians at 7am with all their pushchairs and kids screaming, unfortunate the Hilton is all one level.

Ask for a room on the top level of the 2nd block.
