My wife and I began our honeymoon leg of Fiji in Denarau. After arriving in Nadi Airport from HK, we jumped in a dodgy yellow taxi and had to battle school morning traffic. 45 mins for a 10km drive :|

When we arrived we were greeted with great enthusiasm by the porter and we were escorted to the check-in desk. After being offered a cool drink we were taken to our rooms and given a quick run down of the resort.

We stayed in a Beachfront Studio and it was plenty big enough for the two of us to use as a resting point.

The room was nice enough but the bathroom was a little bit disappointing. The bath certainly was nice looking, but the shower and toilet reminded me of a high school change room cubical.
The bed was nice and comfy and there was an average sized LCD screen with quite a few channels to choose from.
Seeing the beach from our room is certainly impressive, but don't expect much. The beach is black and dirty looking and subsequently we didn't have a desire to use the beach. It was fine though, we spent all our time by the resort pool. if you're after white sandy beaches, stay away from Denaurau.

The restaurant is pretty good and the noodle bar is not bad either. We had an issue with one of our meals and they were super apologetic and fixed it up for us right away at no charge.

The gym is not big, but has a few free weights and treadmills with a cable machine. With a few LCDs in there, you have all you need for a 'holiday' work out.

The pools look great and well looked after. HOWEVER, there are a LOT of kids and these kids do not understand the meaning of 'Serenity' in the Serentiy Pool. Parents, if you are taking your kids there, PLEASE control your children. Not all guests enjoy screaming children doing bombies on their holiday. If you are a after a nice relaxing, romantic holiday, we'd recommend looking for an adult onlys resort.

When we left, we were able to leave our bags there for a week as we were travelling around Fiji still, so this was a great service as we were returning there for one more night before leaving Fiji.

The service for the whole place is inline with the culture of Fiji. Super friendly and happy. Nothing seemed to hard for them, just don't be in a hurry. Remember, everyone is running on 'Fiji Time'

Overall, this is a pretty good hotel that seems quite family friendly. If you are only picking ONE hotel for your honeymoon or romantic holiday, I would not recommend it due to all the children and the many guests, but if it is a short stay or one of several resorts you are staying at, it certainly is worth a stay.

Room Tip: Ask for one not near children, they are annoying!

We were a group of 6 ladies and stayed in the 3 bedroom penthouse. The rooms were Fantastic very spacious rooms and the views were unbeleivable with many comfort inclusions which were very impressive. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you and we always enjoyed the walk from the penthouse to reception ect. The weather was ok raining sometimes but always pleasant. We ate breakfast (included in our deal) and some meals at the hotel and found the pricing to be reasonable considering the exchange rate for the A$. The shopping at the marina was of a very high standard and you could always have a very good meal at the many restuarants available. The meat pies and cream buns at the marina were fantastic for lunch. The highlight of the trip was the snorkling and BBQ lunch tour on the OH LA LA fantastic day and we could recommend the tour to anyone who is willing to listen. The pool was beautiful and we spent time in th pool each day. Overall a great holiday being 4 hours from Sydney hotel close to the aiport and all ameneties. A+++++++++++ we are booking again for 2012.

Room Tip: all rooms are of a very high standard

Once again another fantastic stay - People always ask why we always stay at the Hilton and we simply say - you never go back to somewhere you dont like do you! The 2 bedroom units a spacious and finished well and the stay are so accomodating in all areas and genuinely friendly people with a big smile.

We have just returned from a five night stay at the Fiji Beach with myself, my husband and not quite one year old. For the most part, our stay was fantastic. The pools are amazing, the staff very friendly and accommodating and the rooms are fantastic. We stayed in a one bedroom beachfront which was lovely, the living area is HUGE as is the bedroom, and even though we were sharing with our baby it never felt like he was going to be in the way.

Some downsides of our trip was we were located in the 2nd to last block away from the main swimming/restaurant area which was a 10-15 min walk away. Not a huge deal, but with a baby when your lugging a pram, and gear around it became tedious by the 2nd or 3rd day, and my husband and I are really active people. They do have buggies available, but getting one was not that easy as we would call and quite often they wouldn't show. We had two days of rain including when we checked out which meant we were waiting about 15 mins for a buggy, then there were issues at checkout so we arrived late at the airport for our flight. All the staff are apologetic when they don't come straight away but its frustrating all the same.

The other thing I noticed was there is a real lack of information. There was a small guide book in our room, but it had no information about their 2nd restaurant, only Nuku, and just by chance on our last night we stopped by Maravu to have a look, and ended up having the nicest meal of our stay. The prices at Maravu are much better than Nuku - we never ate at Nuku as it was just too expensive for us. There was also no info around the pool area as to which one was the 'adult' pool so as parents we were looking over our shoulders all the time to check we weren't annoying other guests.

One last aspect about the Hilton I didn't particularly enjoy was there were not many activities going at all during the day or at night. Last time we visited we went to Mana where there was something happening at all times of the day, and we looked forward to this about going back. Fiji Beach offered very little of this sort of thing, but once again there was no information so there may have been things that we just didn't know about.

In terms of the distance to the Port, from the main reception area it took us 15 mins to walk there, or it is a 2 minute taxi ride ($5 each way, or the bula bus which is $7 for unlimited trips throughout the day). We also did a resort hop visiting the Radisson, Sheraton, Westin and Sheraton Villas. All resorts looked as nice as the Hilton so to be fair you probably can't go wrong wherever you choose to stay at Denarau.

While we enjoyed ourselves at the Hilton, I'm not sure I would go back as I probably preferred staying at Mana but its all about what you want from your holiday :)

Room Tip: The one bedroom is a very generous sized room

Good to stay one night after arriving in the late evening or before having an early flight in the morning, as the location is close to the airport. The rooms are in small houses spread over a big area which means you need a buggy (or up to 20 minutes walking) to reach the reception of the hotel. Some of the staff (especially in the restaurants) are very attentive, however the waiting time for the buggies is exceeding the limit: we had always to wait more than 10 minutes for the transport (once even after 20 minutes and 3 fonecalls nobody arrived), even when we announced it far in advance.

However all of the staff are warmhearted and friendly. The swimming pool is nice, but avoid the "beach" as wonderful islands are close. There is only one small hotspot for wireless (WiFI) internet connection in a small Café: none in the rooms, none at the reception, none at the restaurants which is obviously not satisfactory.

Stayed here for 4 nights in may 2011. great place to stay. staff are amazing. rooms are fantastic with big bathrooms, plasmas and everything else you would need.

very new.

horizon pool is fantastic.

restaurants provide excellent food and drinks but as stated earlier, prices are the same as restaurants in Melbourne. but then again, it is a resort and that is what you would expect.

My advise would be to go to the town and buy up snacks and drinks to save a few dollars.

All in all, I would go back.

Room Tip: All rooms are basically ocean facing
