Beautiful resort. Lovely pool area, shady beach chairs as well. Excellent restaurants. Handy to local bus, walking distance to Port Denarau. Found the water sports to be quite pricey. Very hot time of year to visit.

We stayed with our 3 kids in January. We had 2 interconnected rooms. Smallish but very nicely appointed. We had Australia Day there and found the poolside activities were brilliant for the kids. They played beach cricket, touch football and did some hilarious poolside games. The guys hosting the games were great. Our 3 boys loved them. We also found the kids club good. VERY clean (so many aren't) and they had fun. It was flexible too, we just dropped them off for 2 hours at a time which worked well. Kids food could be a little bit cheaper at kids club. Food overall as always at the Sofitel was brilliant. The French just do things well!!! French champagne at your buffet breakfast, I didn't partake but what a nice option! We are an Accor member so the discounts worked really well (although they should apply to Restaurant V also). We felt we stayed at a great 5 star for 3 star pricing for our F&B bill (due to Accor) and we loved that. We had just been to Plantation Island prior and there is no comparison - the Sofitel is a whole different league. Plantation was 2 star at best. Beach activities were a big bonus and the Mandara Spa was great...and we were surprised by the price (approx. $40 AUD for a 50 minute massage at a true luxury island spa). Overall the ambience of the resort is lovely (think candlelight and flame torches at night). Also the Big Bula across the road (a blow up waterpark) was fun and easily accessible for the kids. Staff were good. We have avoided Denaru for years (and are Fiji regulars) but due to the Sofitel and Big Bula Waterpark we are sold on it now. The Sofitel just need an outer island resort as well and then we would be in heaven. We will definitely go back. In fact our comment was 'why go anywhere else'.....

Room Tip: Higher floors have good views but the lower floors are ok as they go out to grass and the beach.

We, as a family of four including 2 kids aged 5 and 2, have recently spent 1 night at the Sofitel on our way back from Mana Island. Being orginally from France we choose the Sofitel out of other options in Denarau and were not disappointed.

The hotel is beautiful, nice swimming pool including a large shallow sections perfect for toddlers (that was my concern) and a super fast slide that kept my kids entertained (and their Dad) for hours.

The room had 2 double beds. Nice furnitures, a balcony with a sea view, well located, but the room was quite small compared to the rooms at the Novotel in Nadi which is also owned by Accor but lower in terms of category of services and luxury. Anyway, we didn't spent much time in the bedroom so that did not bother us. On the positive side, the view was beautiful, and the amenities available in the room were great, with good attention to detail.

We used the kids club in the evening for both children. The Club has its own room service so you can order food there from their special kids menu which is very healthy and varied. The kids had dinner there before they went on a crab hunt on the beach, while my husband and I had some pre-dinner drinks at the Breeze Bar, and then dinner at Salt.

Food was delicious, fish was very fresh and tasty and cooked japanese style (upon request) which is cooked outside and raw inside, delicious!

I also would like to thank you the staff at reception who very kindly assisted us with some luggage issue with Mana island resort. Our luggages did not come on the same boat, and the receptionists at the Sofitel kindly called Mana resort and the Cruise operator and helped organising everything. Thanks again.

Coming from 7 days on Mana island where the atmosphere is very relaxed, everybody walk barefoot in the sand, people greet each other with Bula and Vinaka every 5 minutes, I thought that the atmosphere at the Sofitel was quite different and may be lacked a bit of the Fijian spirit. That is the only reason why I have quoted the hotel 4 stars and not 5 stars. But we will come back again.

We stayed only two nights but a very enjoyable stay it was. Staff are so friendly and accommodating, nothing is ever too much!

Only downside is the cost of food in the resort. Decided to eat at Port Denerau as it was much cheaper.

Overall be prepared to take a lot of money because everything is highly priced. It actually sickens me that staff are only paid $3-5 an hour and yet we are a paying through the nose for everything.

Staff deserve to be paid double for their excellent customer service and hospitality! The only people pocketing all this money are the greedy property owners!

Thank you to the staff. It makes me feel a little embarrassed knowing how poorly you are treated by your employers!

Keep up the great work!!!!

I am pleased to read that you had an enjoyable stay at the resort and found our team members to be friendly.

In regards to your comments on the cost of food it should be noted that given our remote island location a considerable quantity of food and beverage items are imported which affects the costs. We also carry out regular surveys to ensure our pricing is competitive with similar resorts in Fiji.

The resort pays salaries significantly higher than the minimum Fijian Wage Scale in addition to other financial and social benefits. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact me directly at H5706-GM01@sofitelfiji.com.fj

We visited the Sofitel on 28th Dec 2013 on our way out to Plantation Island. I love the Sofitel, we had a suite on the ground floor on the beach front which was great - we had a spa bath outside as well which was great. Loved this place it was great. I only wished we had stopped here on the way back from the island to have some Luxury. Cant complain about anything. We would stay here again. Our daughter loved the pool and the water slide, we took part in the pool activities which was good. This is our second time at Denarau Island Last time we stayed at the Sheraton, we would choose Sofitel over that. Every one was friendly. We didn't have a chance to check out kids club. But we will be back.

We have always wanted to visit Fiji and being our very first visit we wanted it to be a memorable adventure as my cousin was expecting to leave Melbourne for good soon and as they always say, first impressions definitely count.
We travelled to the resort in a taxi where we were greeted with a very loud welcoming ‘Bula’ by everyone who was greeting us at the hotel. All employees at the resort were so friendly and the location was fantastic. The hotel is well maintained with lovely landscapes and picturesque views. There was never a moment that we came across a dull employee during our stay at Sofitel. We booked the superior oceanic view room which was very spacious and had all facilities to make our stay a very comfortable one. Room service was quick to action any requests that we made during our stay and there was never a time that we were left disappointed. The pool was opened 24hours which is definitely a plus point for those who would like to take a dip during the twilight hours. The pool has a fairly big water slide and even being in our early 20s we were able to take a ride on it and enjoy the fun.
While enjoying the sun on the hammocks available on the beach outside the hotel we were greeted by a friendly employee of Sofitel who turned up with freshly cut king coconuts as complimentary to quench our thirst even without our request! That was definitely a welcoming surprise.

The hotel also has a well stocked convenience store, souvenir store, jewellery store and also a small electronics store for anyone who wants to buy any items at the convenience while being in the hotel. For those who would like to take a stroll to the nearby shops, the Denarau port is located just a 10mins walk away from the hotel and is also a great must experience with the restaurants and entertainment they have available for everyone. As a plus point, the hotel provided all stayers with free wifi and most restaurants at the Port also had free wifi available which diners could enjoy at the request of the password.

To make our stay an even better one, Sofitel offered a great range of water activities through a company named Adrenalin Fiji. All activities are provided at a price except for kayaking which was free. The hotel also offered tours and cruises for those who liked to step out like ourselves and enjoy the beautiful island of Denarau . All tours were organised by Rosie Tours.
All in all we enjoyed our trip very much, and the people there just made our stay even more pleasant and would recommend it to anyone. It is definitely a family friendly place to those who are thinking of bringing the kids along :)
