We stayed may 27-30. the hotel was very nice. Clean, well maintained. The staff was always pleasant and accomodating. The food in restaraunts was very good and reasonably priced for a resort. The lobby was beautiful with tribal art hanging and scattered on tables. My only complaint is the beach was not what i had pictured it to be. The sand was brown and dirty, the water was muddy and cloudy brown. The Fiji portion of our trip was booked through a tour company after coming back from australia and new zealand, so we didnt have a say in where we stayed but i would not have booked this hotel mainly due to the beach situation. I was under the impression the beach would be white sand crystal clear blue water like you see in pictures of Fiji .So, dont stay here if you want to swim in the water or snorkle off the shoreline.

Very nice hotel, staff were excellent. Bathroom is due for rennovation. Was duisappointed with seafood buffet, it was no where near as good as a few years ago! Birds are a problem when eating outside area of Lagoon restaurant. Great facilities off the beach with jet ski, canoes, para sail.Weather great, would go back again.

It is a very nice family resort. The breakfast is good; however, they do need to change their selections a little. I was there for a few days and after the second morning, the breakfast did not look very appealing anymore.

My room's air-conditioning was leaking from the ceiling which culminated in a huge pool of water on the floor. Called operator which promptly called maintenance. The guys were there within 20 minutes and got that fixed within the hour. Fantastic, they were apologetic, though I do not think it any fault of theirs. They told me that they will call housekeeping to clean up the mess after they are done. Housekeeping personnel came and she seemed ticked off that she had to clean the room again. In fact, she just used her foot to swipe a towel around the wet floor(which is still wet after she left). When I asked for more towels because the maintenance guys used some of the towels while fixing the air-conditioning unit, she seemed even more ticked off.
I gave this hotel a higher rating because I hope that the experience with housekeeping is isolated.
The nice thing about this hotel's location is that it is only about a 15 minute walk to the port of Denaru where there are many bars and restaurants there. They have a hotel shuttle that takes you there too.

First time at the Sofitel and what makes this hotel special is the staff. They are ALL wonderful. From the housekeeping staff to the food and beverage poolside and buffet, all amazing and full of spirit.

Travelled with family, over three rooms. We pre-arranged port-a-cots for the twins and asked to have rooms beside each other. All confirmed prior to arrival.

Lobby and check in was fast and friendly. The twins were taken away by lovely staff members for cuddles and kisses whilst we checked in with a cocktail. Hotel required copies of all passports. I have stayed at several hotels and appreciate CC detaiils are collected but passports? Couldn't figure that out as I am sure locals do stay at the hotel too..

We were escorted to our rooms. The key cards aren't always 100% reliable and took about 10 attempts to get into the room however the wait was well worth it.

Big bed with nice linens, good size TV (not that i turned it on), Ipod dock and black out curtains.

Room was a delux King on level 3 with the other family rooms two doors down in both directions so we weren't side by side.

The room with the twins was the only room of the 3 in the booking that did not have a bath tub and was a corner room which was the smallest of the lot and was missing one port-a-cot. After follow up with reception and then an hour later with housekeeping directly the second bed arrived.

In the other two rooms there was only one plug which we gave to the grandparents so the twins could bathe in their room (the basins did not have plugs either).

The bathrooms black wooden benches in all three rooms were chipped and the rooms were very dimmly lit. The aircon was very quick and also quiet which was great.

The two bottles of complimentary water a night is a great touch during the turn down service but be careful you drink the free water which is the 330ml. I got confused and drank the 500ml and was charged room service for it even though they were placed side by side.

The buffet breakfast staff were helpful and ensured that the birds were kept at bay and that the food was topped up. The live band at breakfast was a nice touch. The selection was great. The coconut infused pancakes were the best!!!! The staff remembered all our names every morning which shows how great the staff are.

The pool was great however the sunchairs are in need of replacement as many seemed broken. I did love that there was alot of shaded areas around the pool. Food and bar service was quick by the pool. The pool areobics was always good to watch at 1130! Pool temp was perfect!

Gardens were stunning, we witnessed about four weddings all in different parts of the garden and pool for reception. The outdoor movie was a great family event.

If you are after a real day spa experience, I would recommend skipping the Sofitel's spa and walk to the Westin. The treatment rooms at the sofitel are tired and they play enya (very 80's). The Westin is worth the extra $20 or so and they use Pure Fiji products.

Would I stay here again? Yes, however if presented a choice to pay the same amount or even a little bit more for a simular room type, would I stay elsewhere? I would.

Again, the charm and shine is starting to fade off the actual facilites, however it's the staff that make the Sofitel a stunning place to stay.

Well I was disappointed the Sofitel Fiji. Staff were not too friendly. The room was average and my daughters room - the bath over the shower was badly stained. The buffet breakfast was the worst I had ever had with all the hot foods served cold. Food not replenished and overall very poor quality for a supposedly 5 star hotel. Salt restaurant where we had lunch and dinner was very nice and good quality food. Service all the way through just lacked at this hotel and we have stayed at the few Sofitel's and this one just did not live up to the reputation. The gardens and surroundings are immaculate. It is quite expensive as well and they even tried to charge us for water which was given complimentary. The check in staff were not warm and friendly and from the beginning the vibe was we just have to be here at work rather than a warm and friendly attitude. I would not stay there again.

Room Tip: Would not stay there again.

I recently chose to stay at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa as it was the only Denarau hotel I had not stayed in. I was so happy that I finally discovered the best hotel in Denarau!

The service here is outstanding and the facilities are the best on the island, the Premier suite is really lovely, roomy and comfortable with very swish Hermes toiletries.

I spent another night in a luxury room which was probably much better value for money and was equally as well appointed, albeit without the DVD player and Nespresso machine, or Hermes.

I ate at the signature restaurant - V and it was truly a great meal with exceptional service rarely found at this level in Fiji. The new head chef here has earned a strong following and reputation, deservedly so.

The spa service was without fault and reception staff, friendly, efficient and helpful.

Even in such a big hotel you somehow felt comfortable and welcome wherever you went, there was a great level of personal service.

Sofitel is now on top of the Denarau five star list for me.

Ideal place, the staff were superb. Beach was fine, food at Salt restaurant was great. Very handy to get to the Port, where there are bars and restaurants. A visit to one of the islands is highly recommended. Family friendly hotel. Will definitely go back!
