Thank you Sofitel and your delightful staff for a great holiday in Fiji. We travelled as a family of four (two boys 6 and 8).
Staff - always helpful, some exceptionally friendly and warm
Room - had a great night sleep every night - small but adequate
Bathroom - small, leaky shower, met our needs (fresh towels daily catered for the leaky shower and wet floor)
Breakfast - we had this included in our rate - plenty for all to enjoy
Salt - went once and wouldn't go back - too hot to eat out in daytime, too pricey
V - went once - very nice - just expect Fiji time for service
Parisienne cafe - quaint and enjoyable
Lagoon for buffet dinner - overpriced - didn't eat enough for good value
Tour desk - showed us a couple of trips available - we chose two which were fantastic for us and kids - Tivua Island cruise, and Vanua River tour
Check-in and out - fine
Kids club - was quiet most of the time so our boys were quite bored - it would be good if there was a weekly newsletter with set activities so kids can be excited about going - daily blackboard outside club was out-of-the-way (our room was at other end of resort) and staff didn't seem to follow the list anyway. Don't know where all the other kids were.
Pool - great - just too hot to use between 10-4 although plenty of red swimmers out there! Slide - lots of fun
Summary - great trip with family for relaxation and some fun - good hotel but would be nice to be cleaned up a little (not just the cyclone damage) - needs some grooming. Our first trip to Fiji - we hope to be back!

We stayed from Dec 28 to Jan 4th 2013. The resort grounds were clearly cylcone effected but this was understandable and wasn't a problem, many of the staff and the simple things not being done was the problem. When we checked in I directly asked the lady do both ours and the friends we were travelling with rooms have cots as requested? "Yes definately". Get to the room - no cots, it actually took 2 hours and three phone calls to get them. I also asked her were our two rooms adjoining as requested at booking and via email months before we arrived? "Yes". Get to the rooms and they are at different ends of the hall. I understand these are not earth shattering problems but this is the Sofitel and they could have easily not been an issue with some professionalism.

The rooms are clean and big enough. However our shower did leak out all over the entire bathroom floor making it slippery and dangerous. This was brought to the staff's attention but nothing was done for the entire week. Again a simple fix with a rubber 'lip' could/should have prevented this problem. The hallway carpets are stained and dirty as are the hallway walls and roof - not good enough at all as again these are simple things that could be easily fixed. Staff at day tour desk couldnt give a rats about what you book and if you are by the pool and want a drink/food go and order it at least 15-20 minutes before you want it which is hard to believe for 2 beers. One day our wedges took 2 hours - seriously!.

Positively, the waterslide is great for kids and V restaurant was a highlight and highly recommended! The kids club was great and our nanny Maree was fantastic. Salt restaurant was very average. I know everything runs on Fiji time and thats part of the fun of fiji but really the Sofitel could be so great if the simple things were done. PS - get some bird netting around the breakfast area the sight of birds picking at the tongs you are about to use is nasty!.

We had stayed at the Hotel in April and because of the great service we decided to stay on our way home after 11 nights at a remote resort.
Well it was better than the first time I booked thru the internet Sofitel site and I mucked the room I wanted we checked in went to the room to find a std room while very nice we like something bigger went back to the reception area and asked what could be done no worries we could change but the room suite had not been cleaned would we mind waiting of course not as it was my mistake. We got to the room which was beachfront on the ground floor and you could see the terrible damage the cyclone had done, the room was one of the old style which was going to be upgraded but still it was lovely . I saw a review from a another traveller really giving the Sofitel a canning goodness me they checked in the day after the worst cyclone that has hit Fiji since 1993.The management and staff have done a incredible job in cleaning when you are driving thru the private houses on the canal seeing huge private boats sunk from the power of the cyclone.I was so impressed on day one I joined Advantage plus that really locks us into the group. We enjoyed and enjoyed and as far as the other traveller worried about bags being left at the curb with no one watching believe me they are watching plus its FIJI no one steals from tourists .
The Sofitel was a highlight of our holiday it would great if hotel management could have some input to Air Pacific.
I don't seek out management but wrote a open letter to the team as Sofitel really has the WOW factor that makes a holiday.

Many thanks to all

Andrew & Robyn Mc

Room Tip: try for a ground floor at the ends great view plus after a late night easy to get too!

Lovely hotel, great rooms, amazing food, wine and beer, attentive staff (on Fiji time) but their cocktails are dreadful. You cannot make a margarita with lemon cordial instead of lemon! Highly recommend your stay here though, you will leave completely relaxed!

Once again The Sofitel hit the mark with nearly all the points of a getaway holiday. The steak at Salt not just from me was a huge let down. The pool surrounds are getting very tired with a lot of broken tiles (very dangerous) and there is growth on tiles. Please don't let this deter your stay as the staff, amenities, activities and ambiance is still top notch. Thanks heaps to the great staff thoughout the Resort.

My husband, myself and our 3 1/2 year old stayed here in May 2012. It was a really lovely hotel, decent rooms and the pool was very clean ( the same cant be said about the Westin next door - the pool was filthy). The food was mostly excellent - except our daughter survived on chips and rice as the kids menu was a little limited. we had the buffet breakfast included which was well worth it and an easy way to start the day and fill up. We went into the Marina every few days for bread, cheese, fruit etc and made sandwiches in our room for lunch which was a good way to save money. Staff were always helpful and responded well to any queries or complaints. We spent a lot of time around the pool and also did a few day trips. Overall, there was nothing more really we could have needed or wanted. We have booked to return there in May this year, but have recently found out our daughter has serious peanut allergy.. so not sure if we will end up going. Have emailed the Sofitel to discuss with them, but no reponse as yet
