I note that Moo Moo's doesn't have it's own tab for reviews and if you decide to have a meal there you will soon see why. The staff are rude and surly, when it came to ordering we were asked "are you ready now" despite the fact they weren't busy, we were early to our reservation by 5 mnutes and had just sat down. Asking for a drink was seeminly an outragous suggestion. When the food came we were all shocked at how bad it was especially as I had booked based on a really good review I had read on this site. One of the children's meals (which wasn't under eat for free as it was Christmas day which is fair enough) was literally a steak crisp. This meal was less then the size of an 8 year old girl's enclosed fist and so thin as to be transparent except for the 1/3 taken up by gristle. My partner's steak while not large was largly ineatible due to the amount of fat which took up more than 2/3's of the steak. The chef should hang his head in shame. The steaks served on the island tours were better - ON BUFFETS!!!! That's how bad it was.

After reading some of the other reviews we were hesitant in booking the Westin but I can honestly say we don't regret it at all. When we arrived we were greated politely, given refreshments and checked in immediately even though it was only 11am. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was pleasant, and the staff were always friendly. The gym and pools were all great.
The room was lovely and clean and modern, and the bed huge and comfy, we had a room on the ground floor which we found to be peaceful and quiet, despite of some construction going on,plus the ocean in this area is not much to look at anyway. I think the discrepencies in reviews of the rooms on this site result from peoples expectations of 5 star, so let's just remember that it is fiji and not a wealthy country! We were completely satisfied with this aspect of the hotel.
The only down side to this resort is the dining options as it can get quite pricy if you're staying a while, however you always have the option of heading down to port denarau for some simpler cheaper options. Buffet breakfast was always good with plenty of variety, and Moo Moo's restaurant make a really great waygu steak.
All in all, great for a few nights but would not stay longer.

This was my second trip to the Westin and the whole family enjoyed their stay. Not the cheapest place to stay but if you want the best this is the place as you also have access to all facilities next door at the Sheraton Fiji as they are owned by the same company. We found the restaurants expensive but the food quality and atmosphere were worth the price. The best food we had was at the Flying Fish. If you want cheep food you have to go down to the marina, the Hard Rock Cafe had good food and service at reasonable price.

I stayed at the Westin for 3 nights in September with a friend, and we were pretty happy overall.

ROOMS: The rooms are lovely and spacious, the beds huge and comfortable. We had an ocean view room, but really, you could only see the ocean if you stood on the balcony and looked round the corner! But we were very comfortable and happy here.

LOCATION: the beach is not nice at all: grey/black sand. But the pools are lovely, and it is a bonus being able to use the other resort's pools. the location is handy in that it is very close to the marina, so you can do day trips to the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands - highly recommended! I would rather have stayed at an island resort I think, the islands are spectacular.

NOISE: not too bad, though there was some lawnmowing and construction noise that I noticed, making an afternoon nap difficult. the room walls are quite thin; our neighbour liked to watch TV rather LOUDLY in the morning, which was frustrating.

VALUE: We got quite a good deal so we were happy, though would not really recommend paying full price. It is a very nice hotel, but the location is average.

STAFF: very friendly and genuine. Room was serviced and clean, and ready right on check in time (3pm?)

Overall, we had a good stay here.

As far as I was aware, the Westin brand was superior to Sheraton in the Starwood hierarchy. It was on this basis that I booked the Westin for 7 nights, and also the fact that it's rated a 5-star.

When we arrived, we had to queue at the check-in desk. This was something I didn't expect, as we'd recently stayed at the Westin Langkawi (and have also stayed there on 3 previous occasions when it was branded a Sheraton). In Langkawi, we are sat down and offered a drink whilst the paperwork is taken care of, which is especially welcome after a long flight. Not so on Denarau. We were allocated what was probably one of the better rooms, in that it was close to the lobby area and had a nice ocean view on the upper level. I had concerns about noise from the entertainment area, but was assured this would cease by 10.30, but had a look at another room anyway, but this turned out to be inferior from a view and convenience perspective, so we stayed put.

The rooms themselves are, like the resort, very dated. Our room was advertised as an ocean view with Bose surround system. This sounds quite upmarket, but don't be fooled. The Bose system in our room didn't work, and even if it did, you had to supply your own material in the form of cds or dvds because they'd had 'problems' with the dvd library. I took this to mean theft. The bathroom was the worst I've ever come across in a big-name brand. I was told it had been refurbished in 2007, but in this instance, refurbished seems to mean the tiles had been painted. The bath plug didn't work, there was missing sealant around the bath, the bath was small with the shower incorporated into it, and there was corrosion around the screen. Very tired and very disappointing and a stark contrast to the Westin Langkawi which had a separate shower with large bath and nice modern fittings.

We'd arrived on a Saturday and whilst the resort as a whole disappointed (I also had a mediocre meal at one of the restaurants), this was nothing to what faced us on Monday morning. At 8.45, a jack-hammer started up directly below our room. It felt like it was drilling into our heads, such was the noise and vibration. Enough was enough. Having seen another room already, I knew we wouldn't be happy at the Westin, especially with the construction work (which we weren't informed of in advance). And to be honest, the fact they were still using rooms adjacent to the works just smacks of greed. Did they really think no-one would object? So, I told reception that we wanted to move to the Sheraton which was next door. This was handled well and it was arranged for us to view a couple of rooms. The Sheraton turned out to be just what we'd expected the Westin to be - clean, modern, bright with quality bathrooms and with an upmarket feel across the whole resort. We were allocated an ocean view studio which was a lovely comfortable room with large separate bath and shower, plenty of room to relax, quiet, and with a great view of the ocean from the balcony. The restaurants are also better, and there is free internet in the lobby which was missing at the Westin (but available in Langkawi). You get to use the facilities at the Westin anyway, so you don't miss out on the Sheraton not having a gym and spa (the best feature of the Westin is the adults-only pool next to the gym).

Don't stay at the Westin - 'downgrade' to the Sheraton. It's obvious that star ratings in this case work off the number of boxes ticked on the facilities list, and are not based on the quality of the accomodation.
