Had a wonderful time. We up graded to an Ocean Front Room but there was probably no need to spend the extra money. We were lucky enough to get a bargain through MyFij.com and this meant that breakfast was included every day and dinner (2 courses) at seven different restaurants. Being able to use the other two Sheraton facilities was great and this allowed for lots of variety and able to walk to easily between venues and pools.

All the staff were lovely and very helpful. The drinks were a little bit less then you would pay at a bar in Brisbane. We went to the Bula Hour and this meant cocktails were about $8AUD each. Normal price for a cocktail $14AUD. Much less then our local here in Brisbane.

The room was fantastic and had everything we could need. The only thing for me was the shower pressure and it kept going hot and cold. But this was only first thing in the morning.

As a well-travelled Trip Advisor reviewer, we appreciate your feedback. We are very pleased to read that you had a great stay with us and took full advantage of our sister Sheraton offerings as well. We will work with the Chief Engineer on the water pressure settings. Thank you and look forward to seeing you again soon.

We were encouraged to stay at this hotel because even though the beaches at Denarau Island are poor there is an island immediately opposite this hotel (10 minutes or less by small boat) and the hotel offers free transfers with its own boat. The boat was not available and no attempt was made to arrange alternate transport to the island. The main restaurant (Steakhouse by Peter Kurravita) is overpriced and the meals are about pub standard. The secondary restaurant, apart from breakfast which is OK is possibly the worst presented and prepared food I have ever seen in a supposed 5 star resort hotel. Other than that the staff are very friendly and accommodating but I would not recommend this place.

We thank you for your comments. On the onset I would like to offer my sincere apologies for failing to meet your expectations during your stay. Indeed the transfer boat had to be removed for emergency repairs and the service provider could not secure a replacement, not an intentional action of false advertising. The food and beverage team will take your feedback on board and review their operations. Thank you for acknowledging our biggest asset our friendly staff. We trust you had an overall positive experience in Fiji.

Booked the Westin as you can't not love those beds!!
Rather disappointed with location, really not exotic.
Rooms very big and lovely balconies and gardens. Bathrooms a little tired for this type if property.
You can hop between other Starwood properties on a free afternoon evening shuttle and charge between hotels hover drinks are outrageous and food pricy. Shame really as economically priced food and drinks allows you to be more generous in your rating!
Pools and spas at Westin freezing, no spending on pool chemicals here as no one was actually in the pool or spa. When this was mentioned, no one cared.
Would I go back?? All of Fiji in this area needs to smarten up their pricing structure as it's far too expensive for what's on offer. Haven't been there since 1975-80 and other than Denarau Is not much has changed.

Thank you for staying with us and providing us with your feedback. The pool and spas are well utilised by our guests and we receive very few comments in regards to the temperature. Unfortunately, it is not a case of quick fix to heat the pool water and we will review your comments with our engineering team. Our food and beverage is priced comparably to other five star resorts on and around Denarau. We believe Fiji as evolved as a tourism destination since the 1980s and offers a lot more in terms of accommodation and varying activities for our guests from reading a book by the pool to jet ski safaris and water rafting.

I really can't think of a single thing that was wrong with resort. The pools, the food, the beds, and the rooms were all wonderful. We enjoyed the various activities, and we were blessed with absolutely phenomenal weather where it wasn't too hot, wasn't cold at all, and we enjoyed every bit of it.

We actually stayed here twice. First for a couple of nights in an ocean-front suite. We then left to see another part of Fiji, and really couldn't wait to come back. When we came back, we had an ocean-front room, and were offered a suite upgrade for the last night. We declined, since we were happy enough where we were.

I'm not sure if we'd come back to Fiji, but if we did, this would be our choice of the place to stay.

Room Tip: If you can get a suite, it is wonderful!

Stayed here on a family vacation with extended family (25+) people.
Resort was very good, nice pools etc. Cannot really swim at the beach which was disappointing. Everything seem a bit unnecessarily expensive. And need to take taxi to get any where.

Rooms are quite small.

Good breakfast, and awesome views. Great Pools, awesome bars.
And the large out door chess set is awesome.

Ability to go to the other resorts pools and restaurants was a plus.

The Westin is a beautiful hotel in Denarau. You have to really understand it for what it is though before you arrive to avoid disappointment. It is a 5 star (ok, trying to be 5 star) mega resort, in certainly not the most attractive part of Fiji and whilst makes a superb attempt at remaining faithful to the culture in which it is in, it is by no means a cultural experience. Rather, it is a stunning hotel with a fabulous pool, relaxing seaside views, delicious burgers at the Steak restaurant and the options to visit the other resorts on the Bula bus or by walking and use kids’ club etc facilities. And for that, I salute it. It did all these things really well.

We hired a nanny to look after the kids, Mama Fiji who was absolutely outstanding and really made our 2 day stay superb. There is a lot to do if you’re that way inclined, and relaxation was an equal option.

Having visited Fiji 4 times over a period of 10 years, I know we will return to Denarau rather than the Coral Coast (to me, they’re at the same level of authenticity in terms of experience – ie not much, and yet Denarau is a lot closer to the airport), but we will always combine the trip with a visit to one of the smaller outer resorts. Out of all the resorts which we visited on the island, I really did love the Westin and would definitely either stay there again or recommend it to others.

Other reviewers have mentioned the complete lack of attention to detail by the Westin and they're not wrong. So many annoying things which we didn’t feel like dealing with on our holidays, all first world problems and aren’t really problems, but honestly: simple staff training should combat them. Eg my requests to the reservations department were completely not relayed to the front desk, and therefore I had to articulate them all over again at check-in. Some of those requests were acknowledged and confirmed and others weren’t. For example, we didn’t have our booked transfer waiting for us at airport. No rubbish bins in rooms (really????). Our booked taxi to take us to airport wasn’t actually booked. Concierge booking to collect our luggage didn’t arrive and we had to call a couple of times. Know what I mean? It wouldn’t detract us from visiting the hotel, but I most certainly wouldn’t call it 5 star and strongly advise the hotel to not just write to the reviewers that they will do something about it, but to actually train and reward their staff appropriately to avoid such silly errors.

Overall, good experience and would return and recommend.

Thank you for your genuine feedback highlighting the positives and the improvement areas. It is evident that our training is not a 100% effective and I will be working on these with my department heads. We do strive to exceed our guest expectations and I thank you again for your feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back with our improved service levels.

The Good:
It is a beautifully designed building and the hotel facilities are in excellent shape.
The staff are incredibly friendly and made me feel quite welcome (special kudos to Peni the porter...always asking how I was and if there was anything he could do).

The Bad
The PRICES! The cost for incidentals was outrageous ($25 for a burger?).
One of the things I was looking forward to was a round of golf, but when I found out that it was $235 for 18 holes on a quite mediocre (and brown) course, I took a pass.
I wanted to try some diving again, but there was very little in the way of organization for this, and what was offered was insanely expensive. Even the surrounding resorts were charging the same high prices (for food, trips, etc...) so there was no real shopping around. I am told (now) that these extreme prices are only at Denaru Island, so I will try another area next time...
But if price is no object, then it is nice...not awesome, but nice.

Some little things that I did not expect at a 5 star resort...
1. No transport organized by the hotel, even though the airport is only a few minutes away.
2. Flights from LA land at just after 5AM, but rooms are not ready until 3PM (that is a VERY long wait!). Fortunately, they had an unmade room that they let me borrow for a quick shower. As I said, the people are very nice.

Thank you for providing us with your feedback. We are pleased to have positively added to your experience. Indeed we are priced comparably to the destination and other resorts. We do organise transport on behalf of our guests which includes taxis or transport companies. Unfortunately the opportunity to check in early is dependent on the occupancy from prior night and during peak season it is not feasible to cater for early flight arrivals until the in house guests have checked out and the rooms cleaned. We do advise our early arriving guests to book from the night before to guarantee access to the room as soon as you check in. My apologies for any inconvenience caused.
