“Disappointed”
Reviewed September 16, 2010

We've stayed at the Sheraton Villas several times over the years but we have left there feeling this was our last time. One of the main attractions of this hotel complex in the past was the staff - their friendliness and how special they made us feel to stay here. I was shocked at how many staff now walk around the complex looking as though they would rather be somewhere else. Not as many "bulas" and smiles as there were in the past. The restaurants are ridiculously overpriced and most guests seem to be eating at the marina (Port Denarau) which has a number of restaurants offering fabulous meals at very reasonable prices. I do believe the hotel has also noticed this as two of their restaurants have recently been sold to external companies. Of course the facilities themselves are fantastic - the pools are beautiful and having a choice of so many is a bonus. The kids club (and the gorgeous staff there) are wonderful - the kids were definitely entertained and looked forward to going there. The Day Spa, although heaven, is very pricey but there is a day spa at the marina that is worth a look (FJ$99 for a massage and facial, in comparison to approx FJ$400 at the hotel). The Villas are now very run-down and definitely wouldn't be a 5 star rating. I truly loved this place so I'm almost lost for words. If I were to return to Fiji, would I stay at the Villas? Probably not. I may consider the Westin (which is also part of the Sheraton complex) but I would hope that whatever underlying issues are going on with the staff are rectified.

The service was shocking, such a shame to have an amazing resort and facilities and for it to be let down by the staff...

BULA
One week before we were due to fly our to Fiji for the first time we were notified by Expedia who we booked our package from, that our resort could not put us up for the first three nights in our 2 bedrooms villas they were fully booked. So they have to put us up in the resort section x two bedroom with no kitchen or laundry. At first we were concerned but when we arrived it was perfect. 100m to the beach. Beds were very comfortable the girls had a queen bed each which they loved.

We arranged private transport from Fiji via the internet to take us to our resort which cost us $65.00 Fijian dollars. Rip off. On our return trip to the airport we paid a local taxi driver $30.00. Half the price.

This was our first Fiji holiday, in which we can't wait to go back next year same time.
The breakfast at Feast was great. Lots of choices for food. Kids loved it. We also took some bananas and pastries for the girls morning tea for the day which was fine with the restaurant. Food at the resort is a bit pricey. You can go to the Marina and have dinner or lunch for almost half the price. But you order food etc for the convenience.

The kids club at the Sheraton was FABULOUS. Our girls are 6 & 3.5. You will need a nanny for any child under 4. We had an excellent nanny called Asena. The girls were really sad to say goodbye to her. Also Mere her sister was fantastic with the children. Their fee is $30.00 Fijian the first three hours and then $6.00 every hour after. How cheap is that. We ended up giving our nanny double. They only earn $4.30 Fijian per hour and work really hard. She was sooo appreciative.

Went on a jet ski safari which costs $465.00 Fijian dollars for double. We went out to Bounty Island. It was an excellent couple of hours. Worth the all the money. Will do this again next year. Also hired a scooter for $100.00 Fijian dollars. Note don't hire it for 24 hours just hire it for 1/2 day because you won't use it at night time.
Dinner at the Steak House at the Westin was really nice. YUMMY.
Really sad to leave. Bring on 2011.

What a great trip, the whether was fantastic and the staff very freindly. We had a slight glitch at check in with a trainee staff member trying to tell us that we only had booked one room when it clearly stated in her notes and our itinerary that we had booked a 2 bdrm garden villa. We got it sorted but ended up moving and upgrading to a lagoon view room...worth the extra $$ if you have the money. If you join the Starwood club (which is free) you get a discount (almost 50% off) your upgrade. When you have young children and you have put them to bed, it was great being able to sit out on the balcony (we requested upstairs) and look out on the pool lit up, we could also see the sea from our view.
The choice of pools was great, you can use the Sheraton pools which are great for kids or adults or the Westin, but our favorite was the endless pool at the Villas as it had a swim up bar and restaurant (the Wet edge) which was great for ordering food for lunch by the pool or dining over the water at night. Also Bula hour at 4pm the kids looked forward to have a non alcholhic cocktail. The restaurant at the Sheraton on the sand and by their pool was lovely, more formal than the other, and more expensive, but the food was 4 * and the kids played around on the beach while waiting for their dinner, and the kids menu was better their.
The rooms were very spacious and cleaned beautifully. Couldn't recommend the Villa's more. Just be prepared to pay alot for eating at the resort, although dining at the marina was cheaper, if you have kids eat free, it works out cheaper (or about the same) to eat their.

We have just had a week here in a 2 bedroom villa. Everything was suberb. We had 1 Kingsize, 2 queensize and a sofa pullout bed. Every bed was very comfortable. The staff came each night to pull out and make up the sofa bed, so it was no hassle to us.
Pools are excellent and all the grounds were kept clean. Wet edge bar and restaurant was excellent.
Had problem with one of the toilets, they came and replaced it. Was no problem.
Would definately stay here again.

We had a seven night stay at the villas. We'd stayed at the Fiji Sheraton Resort last October with our two children and this time opted for the villas. For our next stay we'll be choosing the villas again as this worked perfectly for us and our two children aged 3 and 5 years old.
We stayed in a one bedroom lagoon villa on the ground floor. The villa had two double beds so was perfect for the four of us. I knew the villas were fully self contained but was pleasantly surprised to find they also provided dishwashing detergent and laundry powder which I was expecting to purchase if I needed it. The kitchen was also well stocked with all the cookware, cutlery and utensils you'd need. Not that I cooked, but I liked the option of having it there if I needed it.
Being right on the lagoon pool was fantastic. This is where we spent most of our time so we weren't walking all over the resort to go to the different pools. What worked great was when the children just wanted to play inside and watch dvd's we'd just lounge around the pool outside and relax and could hear what the kids were up to in the room. I should note the beach is not the best so if you're wanting beautiful beaches best stay somewhere else.
The restaurants are great and recommend the Flying Fish and Wet Edge. The kid's favourite was the Flying Fish with the sand on the floor. Also it was great that the kids were happy to play on the beach after they were finished eating so my husband and I could take our time enjoying our meal and watch them from the table.
Port Denarau is great with a great selection of restaurants. We did take away from there a couple of times and ate in the villas. This worked great and these meals were probably the most relaxed ones we had on our holiday. The children also preferred this option than eating at a restaurant since they'd be tired after a day of swimming in the pool. We caught the Bula Bus to the port once, just to do it for the girls but it's actually cheaper to catch a taxi to and from the port for five fijian dollars each way (bus tickets are $6 (fijian) per adult, plus with the taxi you travel direct to and from without stopping at all the other resorts.
Staff and service are excellent. Will be back and recommend the villas to anyone with young children.

From the moment of arrival to the moment of departure we found the accommodation and staff wonderful.

My children are all so excited about their first overseas holiday. We have 3 boys - ages 5, 8 & 9. When we arrived, we arrived to such a warm welcome. We were transferred by golf buggy to our villa which had 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms a loungeroom, dining & kitchen. Our bedroom had a large King and the boys shared a room of two large double beds. Very clean and very comfortable with that Fijian style.

We did a couple of days of island (South Seas Island & Mana Island) and a half day village tour as we wanted to experience Fiji outside of the resort although our boys would have been more than happy to spend our entire 7 days at the resort. They were so occupied by the daily activities such as soccer & touch rugby playing on the beach, fish feeding, basket weaving, egg throwing competitions and the numerous amounts of pools. We spent most of our time at the Wet Edge Pool. Although we planned to put the children in the kids club we just didn't get around to it, we were having too much fun with them. They did join in with some kids club activities as we saw them and of course the Fijian staff were excellent with the children.

"The buffet breakfast was fantastic. Can't think of any breakfast items left off the menu. We had heard is busy during school holidays but we found no problems at breakfast even though the resort was full.

Although we did eat at the restaurants for other meals we found it more cost efficient to spend the $6 Fijian per adult (children under 12 for free) on the Blue Bula Bus to go into Port Denarau and have our meals. My 5 year old still states his favourite part of the holiday was snorkelling and catching the Bula bus, so each time we went into the Port he was getting an extra trip on the Bula Bus.

The Brown Bula bus is still for free although this just takes you to the other resorts owned by Sheraton - Westin, Sheraton Hotel & Sheraton Villas. This was great for the boys though as they got to swim in other pools.

On the Blue Bula Bus we got to check out the other Hotels in Denarau and are in no doubt we picked the best resort. We did a bit of star spotting and saw 2 Australian celebrities during our stay. As my husband & I said to each other - if they are staying there, must be good.

Out the front of the main entrance to the Sheraton is a small mini supermarket where we were able to buy our bottled water and any essential items or meal items if we felt like cooking in the villa - the supermarket was price comparable to Port Denarau supermarket prices, so not far to go if you don't want to eat in restaurants all the time.

Can't wait until our next trip to the Villas.
