Icacos island is a great place to do some really good snorkeling - there were lots of schools of fish. The beach is also a wonderful place to just hang out.

This was a gorgeous Island only 10 minutes off the coast of Fajardo. Instead of spending huge bucks on a catamaran trip, we opted to hire a water taxi- captain Mingo, to just zip us out to the Island so we could snorkel for a few hours and then come back. It was a great option for us as we weren't into the drinking parties the catamarans offered and on top of that they were much more expensive. We also wanted do something for just the 2 of us that didn't involve 50 other people. So we went and picked up some snacks and water and brought them to the Island with us. The water taxi was 100 bucks round trip and he picked us up when we were tired and wanted to come back. We stayed about 3 1/2 hours. The waters are blue turquoise and the beaches were powdery white. We saw beautiful tropical fish and my husband saw a sting ray. Go early if you want the beach to yourself. The catamarans come out and bring the crowd of snorkelers around 10:45 am and then leave at around 12:45. Outside of those 2 hours there were 2 other couples on the island. It was heavenly!

The locations is very beautiful, but you will only enjoy it if you arrive before the boat tours... as the all set anchor ON THE BEACH!!! ruining it... they start to arrive between 11:00 and 12:00 and stay for about an hour there
We on las croabas and there were some fishermen offering the boat ride. In the end it cost us $70 (the initial cost requested was $100… after some negotiation if got easily to $70, it think I could have paid less… but you can negotiate yourself) there is a fee parking there. We arrived on Icacos at 9:40, is a short 15min then you decide the time to pick you up there, bumpy boat ride that, but was windy on the day we went there
There is a snorkeling spot on the left side, but was not good because of the winds that were blowing on that direction making waves that difficulties the snorkeling
So my advice is to go early to avoid the tours and try to snorkel while there are there ;)

We booked a catamaran outing to Icacos Island with included a beach stop and a snorkeling stop. What we saw of this small island was a beautiful remote beach, soft white sand, and beautiful aqua water. No facilities available. If going there for "great" snorkeling, you might be a bit disappointed. We found the island of Vieques to be much better for snorkeling as well as having numerous wonderful beaches.
