This review is for the Las Casistas property.
To set the baseline I have traveled extensively domestically and internationally. I really thought you would pay for what you get, not here. I have no problem spending money for good service, accommodations, or food.
Well, to say it simply this place is not worth the money. The trip was my g/f and I early 30s.
Rates at this place start in the high $300s/nt. and go up very quickly. If your expectations are not very high, then this is the property for you. The plus' is the property location (near Fajardo) is awesome on the top of the cliff (also near the rainforest-20min) and the grounds are very rainforest like. Plus the infinity pool is very cool. That's where the positives end!
First the drive from San Juan is long (45 - 90min.), depending on traffic on a horribly maintained road. Also road signage like most of Puerto Rico is set up for locals and is very poorly marked. The property is old, and outdated, again for rates at over $400/nt. The property according to their sr. mgt. is going to have $26M in renovations, but judging how terrible and slow construction is on the island, I wouldn't hold your breath. Service is underwhelming the butler service is a joke, we never saw our "bell-hop" after the first night, even after tipping him $20 for putting the bags in the room....This review is for the Las Casistas property.

Service is underwhelming the butler service is a joke, we never saw our "bell-hop" after the first night, even after tipping him $20 for putting the bags in the room. Rooms do have full kitchens, which I recommend buying groceries at the market near the main road, because food at the resort is VERY high and marginal quality. Also drinks have a minimum 15-20% service fee added, so you are looking at an average $10 per drink. Service at the front desk is very inconsistent, everyone means well, but very poorly training. I would not blame them, but their mgt. Again the Puerto Rican mentality is "manana" (aka slow) nice people, but you will wait. Housekeeping is inconsistent on when service will happen, as we called to request it and they forgot. BREAKFAST is a joke. Continental is included in your room rate, but if you want the hot breakfast you must pay $18 and receive no credit towards/for your free continental. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY! Don't stay here. Again lower your expectations for FOOD! Expensive, you will spend on avg. $25-$30 per person. We tried restaurants locally and at the hotel both were marginal quality and very expensive. You don't pay for what you get! The island is crowded and no big deal. Also the resort is very spread out, (most places 10-15min. walks), which was no problem for us, since...More
