Owner description: A bioluminescent lagoon, mangroves, coral reefs, dry forests, sandy and rocky beaches set between headlands—visit all these ecosystems in one place, the Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve, in Fajardo. You’ll find one of our most frequented visitor centers here, and it’s only steps away from the best resorts in the area. You can take traditional, night and thematic tours from here—on bike, kayak or trolley—always in the company of a nature specialist who will show you everything about the ecosystems, landscapes and wildlife of the reserve, including the breathtaking view of the northeast tip of Puerto Rico from the top of the Fajardo Lighthouse. Multiple tours available by booking online. Spaces are limited, please reserve in advance online or by phone.

Wow, this tour took like two and half hours and it is only like $7.00 per person. It was very very nice learning experience. I took it with a group of students and our tour guide was very funny and knowledgeable. If I ever decide to take this tour again will ask for Alberto tour guide boy.

Important: you can only go here thru reservations.. if you do not have a reservation, don't even try it because they are very strict on their available seats and schedule.

This is a place to learn, contemplate and enjoy. The boardwalks are spectacular and learning about the wildlife gives you the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve. Do make reservations before going, and don't forget to explore the restaurants around the area. This is a place to take the whole family.

This is a very lovely tour. They take you in a large golf cart type vehicle all through the park. You go on a great trail up to the lighthouse, then down to the water, then to the mangrove. Take your camera because you will see some amazing sights. We took a three year-old with us and she had a great time. The mangrove walk is a little long, but worth it. As with anywhere in Puerto Rico, take bug spray.

We were excited about seeing the bio bay, and the tour turned out to be much more than that. Luis our guide was very knowledgeable and informative. He also gave us directions over the phone when we called ahead. If you're going at night, it's hard to see the entrance sign--it needs to be illuminated. The tour begins with a tram ride to the beautiful lighthouse where we heard about light pollution and what Fajardo is doing about it. Be sure to visit the Iguana who lives inside the lighthouse. We then walked on the boardwalk through the mangrove swamp to the bio bay. It was a 10-15 minute walk, but not strenuous. The bio bay was awesome. Just when we thought the tour was over, Luis led us through the forest to the beach--he succeeded in finding a coqui', an iguana, a spitting millipede, a starfish, and a tiny fiddler crab for us to see. You will need a reservation, but you can book online. The tour is 2 and 1/2 hours, and well worth it, an excellent value for the money.
