The Fajardo Inn

Fajardo Inn's most valuable asset is its views. the second floor room we got had a step-out balcony with an unbelievable, sweeping vista. There is a patio deck (decorated with every shade of bright, Caribbean colors) that overlooks the pool and lends a panoramic view of mountains and sea. Breathtaking, really.

The room itself was pretty simple and spacious. The staff was super helpful. They showed us the ropes, arranged transportation, and told us about the best authentic Puerto Rican restaurants in the area.

We went to Fajardo Inn because we had arranged a hiking tour in the closeby El Yunque rainforest (the waterfall was super fun) and wanted to stay in fajardo where we'd catch the ferry to culebra the next day.

I've visited 10+ (and counting) caribbean islands and Culebra is one of the more interesting ones that I've ventured to. It boasts the 2nd most beautiful beach and is superbly underdeveloped. There are only a handful of hotels in the area & a world away from everything. Go there if you truly want relaxation time! We stayed at tamarindo estates, stayed near the ferry one noght, camped on the beach one night (it is about $40 to camp with park fee, tent and air mattress), and also stayed at the Beach Villas (the only waterfront hotel). We moved around a lot!

To sum, fajardo inn is a really good choice. You really can't beat the price for the view. It's a fantastic choice if you want to wind down and avoid the rest touristy areas (Old San Juan is about 45 mins. away by car & an $80 taxi fare). The place is tucked away, and unless you rent a car, taxis are the only way to go. Convenient if you plan on going to Culebra, Vieques or the Virgin Islands.

Check out my photos of Fajardo inn if you'd like! I hope this helps!

If you are going to the rainforest or Vieques/Culebra, this would be a good hotel for you. Our room was not ready until after 6:00, even though the hotel was basically empty. We were scheduled to do the BioBay tour, but due to overbooking and then rain, the tour was cancelled for the day. Instead, we explored the very small town outside of the hotel and ordered a bucket of beers and watched the rain from the porch on the top floor. The rooms are nothing special, but they are clean. The bed was pretty comfortable and the room itself had plenty of space for two people. We went to the larger of the two pools, a resort-style, large pool. The pool bar was not open and an iguana pooped in the pool and nobody cleaned it up. There was also some seasonal maintenance going on while we were there, so there were people painting the umbrella/shade stands on the deck. The paint smell was a little distracting. The best thing about the Fajardo Inn in my opinion was the restaurant where we had dinner. We each had one of the best hamburgers ever and there are two pool tables for $1 a game. I would think that this hotel is good for families traveling on a budget. There are a playground, bird cage, and work out facility, as well as two pools. The staff was friendly, but weren't able to make specific recommendations of what to do around town. If you are going to Vieques or Culebra or the rain forest and just need a place to crash, this is a good bet.

Room Tip: Don't plan on an early check-in

Staying for a week! In fact i am still at the hotel but wanted to share my thoughts already! The staff was awesome! Alberto the Maintenance man was so sweet and so thorough with his work! Sylvia at the front desk was more then accommodating. The rooms are very large. Only downfall is they don't have refrigerators or microwaves. The pools are awesomeeeee! Great family resort. They have parrots all around. Iguanas like to bathe in the sun outside. Yummy juice bar! They even have protein shakes and a full gym with everything. The resort itself is very nice. The neighborhood near buy isn't the best. But the center of town has everything. I would stay again and recommend it to anyone.

We stayed at the Fajardo Inn, both before and after our trip to Culebra. Both rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. The two pools were a hit and the food was quite good. They had a very chatty parrot in the lobby. I used the fitness center on the day we checked out before we left. Dress code requires women wear long shorts...a little archaic, but they let me in in my running shorts any way.

My wife and I were so glad to find this place. It was the perfect central location for everything that we wanted to do. Plus, it was clean, comfortable, and had an amazing pool! We rented a car at the airport in San Juan and were able to get to access El Junque, a day trip to Old San Juan, a bioluminescent tour, the beaches in Fajardo and Luquillo, plus a boat trip to Culebra. Staying in San Juan can be very expensive so this spot was a great alternative.

If you stay here, be sure to check out Golden Sweet Bakery just down the street. This place had a fantastic Puerto Rican breakfast!

I loved everything about this place. From the people to the food, just enjoyed everything about it. The people working here are so hospitable and more. Specially the girls working at the front desk. We wanted to go on a bio bay tour & almost didn't b'cause all the companies were full and one of the front desk agent really went out of her way to book us a reservation, Ooohhh loved it. Thank you Iris. I'm really glad I chose this spot for my vacation, I will definitly go back next year. Woooop woooop!!!

We spent 3 nights here and Fajardo Inn lived up to my expectations. Staff was very friendly and service was very good at both restaurants on property. The hotel was very clean. Stayed in room 108 in main building close to lobby which must be older section of hotel. Bed was very creaky and a good 3" foam was put on top of mattress which made it very soft and felt like you were sinking into the bed. That is my only complaint for the room. The staff maintains the grounds very well but felt like pool needed attention. The smaller pool had some debris in it and by steps was iguana poop. We just used the larger pool instead and no problems. Looks like a nice place to bring children as the large pools has large area for small children to go in. Swim up bar was non-functioning and jacuzzi as well. Gift shop was never open when in fact the girl said it would be open noon to 6 p.m. and it was locked. Guess we were not there in season .
