We just returned from a wonderful 4 night stay in the Las Casitas section of this resort. It was absolutely fabulous. Our only complaint would be the hour bus ride from the airport. However once we arrived at the front lobby we were blown away by the amazing beauty of the resort and the views from every angle. It is truly breathtaking.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom casitas and the room was perfect for our family of 6. It provided 2 large bedrooms each with it's own full bathroom. In the center was a large living/dining room and a beautiful kitchen. The amenities were great & housekeeping was very thorough.
Even though we stayed in the villas, we spent most of our time enjoying the hotel area too. The pools were beautiful and not overly crowded. No problem getting chairs at all. The hot tub overlooking the Caribbean ocean was our favorite place to relax. We also enjoyed a day at their water park. It was the perfect size to be able to relax on a lounge chair and not worry that the kids are too far out of sight.
We really enjoyed Palomino Island too. We rented paddle boards, went snorkeling and saw some amazing coral and fish. We also went horseback riding on the beach and to the highest point of the island. It was amazing and worth every penny.
I don't understand all of the reviews about how bad the food is. We ate at almost every restaurant during our stay and had wonderful food & service with each meal. It was very nice to wake up & head over to La Brisas each day for the breakfast buffet. They offered quite a selection of fresh fruits & hot items. Our favorite meal by far was at The Striphouse. The chateaubriand was fabulous!!!
The only bad time we had was when we had to check out!
We will definitely be back!

We spent a couple of days at this beautiful resort. The Resort Manager was extremely helpful in order for us to book the right room-rate-location, thank you so much! The facilities are very well maintained, the room was very clean and perfectly located next to "Coqui waterpark". Food at Stingrays, Iguanas and Room Service was very good too. The short boat trip to Palomino Island went a very long way - Palomino is just beautiful and peaceful, yet very interesting for our 7 yrs. old, he really had a blast and we are so glad that we came to El Conquistador since this short time was meant to spend some family quality time - mission accomplished - Thank you Conqui!

We spent the first half of our week vacation in Isla Verde, which is great, but weather between X-mas and New Years can be iffy, as was the case when we were there. We decided to pack an overnight bag and hop in the car and drive to Fajardo to spend the day at El Conquistador. Figuring that even if weather was not great, there would be plenty for kids to do, then if weather was good, we could see about a room. Upon arrival, weather was overcast, but we decided to see about a room. The Front Desk staff, and in particular the management staff could not have been more accomodating. Mind you this was a couple of days before NYE, the hotel was near capacity, and we did NOT have a reservation. We were promptly checked in, escorted to our room and quite literally pampered from that point forward. The room was an incredible oceanview room (down at the marina), which the front desk manager had to talk me in to (I was told by friends that staying at the upper hotel was more central, which it is, but also more crowded). The notion of the boat to the private beach seemed a little hokey at first (I had been there before kids and before the ferries were upgraded to hi speed boats), but it actually was great. Being off the coast, the water was much calmer and clearer, and frankly you have everything that you could possibly need at the private island. The kids loved it. The other thing that the kids loved was the water park. By far the best (clean, not too big, safe, incredibly well maintained) water park that we've ever been to. I generally try to avoid them because I'mnot a fan of crowds, but this was actually a pleasure, particularly because I didn't feel like we had to be on top of our kids. The restaurants were generally good. Some better than others, although lunch was pretty good everywhere. I really liked the fact that there were a lot of little places to get a quick breakfast (coffee, muffin, bagels, etc). We did the big buffet one day, but that's too much food for us. The staff around the entire hotel was really great. I had the oppoortunity to meet many of the managers, and it is evident that the attention to customer satisfaction eminates from them. Was truly a great place with great people. So much so that we are thinking of returning during Presidents week.

We had not planned to stay at the El Conquistador, but when the seas were too rough for the ferry from Fajardo to Vieques, we needed a Plan B to keep the kiddos happy. We showed up at the El Conquistador about 11 am and were greeted with warm welcomes and an available guestroom. The rooms were spacious, clean, and recently renovated. We had a beautiful ocean view. We spent the afternoon at the pool where the kids made many friends from all over the US. My husband and I each learned how to make mojitos, poolside and we received a complimentary cocktail from our waiter. The kids played ping pong too. I asked the concierge about kayaking in the local biobay, as we were all devastated to have missed our Vieques biobay swim. She told me that all the groups were full, but recommended we just show up and see if there were any cancellations. What a great idea! We were able to secure spots for the 6:30 pm adventure with Fajardo Tours Eco Adventures ([--]). That was amazing and well worth the $45 a person fee. After the kayak we were wet, sandy, and cold and returned to the resort for dinner. The oven fire pizza was great and the kids loved the movies by the pool. We all slept great in the queen sized beds. The next day we took the free ferry to their private Palomino Island. It was beautiful! (Not as beautiful as Culebra...) The kids snorkeled, played putt putt golf, built sand castles, played soccer, gathered sea shells, and marveled at the iguanas. We had lunch and cocktails too. It was a very nice day.
Next time, I would stay longer than one night, for sure, and we'd be prepared to play a few rounds of golf, as the Arthur Hill designed course looked beautiful with it's elevation changes and palm trees.
We had read reviews of the resort that weren't very kind. I don't understand them. The reosrt was beautiful, well kept, clean, with friendly staff. The food was expensive, but we experienced that all over PR and not just at the resort.

We just spent five nights at the hotel. We had a ocean front room in La Vista...it was absolutely fantastic. The daily brunch was delicious. The views were beyond our expectations. The daily trip to Palamino Island beach was so much fun. Our twenty-something year old children home from college break said the island was so relaxing; just what they needed from the snow and cold of the northeast! We are definitely coming back and staying in La Vista again.
