Wow, this site is usually good to get a feel for a resort but the reviews have been all over the place on this resort. We only vacation a couple times a year as a couple and I can usually get a good feeling about a place from the reviews posted here. I was somewhat concerned by all the negative comments others had experienced. I am happy to report that we just spent the past week (3.16 thru 3.22) in Puerto Rico at the EL CON and had a great relaxing and enjoyable stay! We are Hilton Diamond members and we were treated very well...

We did see many families vacationing here as it is "Spring Break" time frame. This was not a problem for us and everyone was well behaved.

Highlights:
Great "Ocean" Views and lovely weather every day
Staff super friendly and helpful
Dinner at night-excellent quality (Italian-La Piccola and Chops Steakhouse)
Palomino Island was great fun every day-(miss it already...)
Golf Course is challenging and fun and not a "typical resort" course

Hints:
Bring water shoes as there is coral at Palomino Island
If you want to save some $$ go to the local supermarket ($15-$20 cab ride) and stock up on beers, soda's, water, etc to help on the overall costs...

Hope this helps you other travelers who have seen the other negative reviews and have some concerns!! We will return again next year!!

This was an incredible experience. Although essentially we were in the U.S., we felt as though we were in Capri, the Amalfi Coast, Poisitano . The views and vistas were such that we don't need to go to Europe any longer.
Everyone we met at the hotel was helpful, but we do need to single out a few people. Starting with the managing director, Dermet Connolley , who was responsive to our every need, Maricely and Yvette who took care of any request, at the pool, Emilio the attendant at the pool assisted me in getting suntan lotion, a hair clip, all of which I forgot in my room. He found everything, Leo Nieves at the ferry accommodated us at the last minute. Carlos Gonzalez the waiter at Chop House attentive, made dining a pleasure. Food was delicious. Other restaurants quite nice and reasonable for a family. Wilson the maitr'd at Chops also was helpful
We will return again with our daughter, husband and her two children, 8 and 11. There is something for everyone at El Conquistidor. We haven't stopped telling our friends about this place. (Sorry for any misspelled words, computer has a mind of its own.)
Till we meet again, Sandra and Irv Guberman

Room Tip: Hard decision where to stay, either the Casitas, or the wonderful room we had on a high floor overlooking the sea and the panorama of the island. Having a balcony was an added plus, and worth it.

Nice hotel. Rooms a bit dated but nice. Spectacular views. Very pricy. Rent a car or take a cad to local restaurants. Pasion, YiDukas were two we tried. Local Puerto Rican food and very good prices. Dont eat dinner in the resort. Las Brisas for breakfast was good. A starbucks in the lobby. Just do yourself a favor and eat dinner off property.

If you want to kayak Bio Bay, book long before you go. It was sold out.

Thank you for taking the time to write your thoughts from your most recent stay at El Conquistador. We certainly have spectacular views, and the memories will last a lifetime. I am sorry that our dining experiences for dinner fell short of your expectations. We certainly do review your comments with our Food and Beverage Team in hopes of improving in the near future. Thank you and hope to see you at the resort again in the near future.

Great place to escape to for a family vacation. The rooms were beautiful and spacious and the staff couldn't be more friendly. Loved Palomino Island and the ferry ride to get there. Also loved the Rain Forest. A great time was had by all.

A short boat trip from the hotel, which is complimentary, we arrived at Palomino Island. Hotel staff was great on the boat and on the island. Pedro Moreno provided us with friendly and excellent service and helpful advise. Pizza is not great, but the chicken sandwich and hamburgers are good, so are the french fries!
