In general I had a good time here with my family. Stayed for 4 nights, enjoyed both the Palomino Island and Coqui Water Park. However there were a few issues. The room we stayed at in order needed the safe repaired, the fridge replaced, and then had issues with the toilet from the floor above leaking down on our toilet. They eventually moved us to a new room and the staff was friendly. Just try not to get carried away with Waldorf name when booking this hotel; it is not nearly at that class. It is a good property that is in need of updating in the rooms. One more note to keep in mind, the food is as expensive as I have seen; even a lunch by the marina will set a family back $90 for wraps and fries. We had a car, $16 a night parking, so we were able to go into town or to Luquillo for dinner.

A fine hotel with a great golf course, pools and island beach, and views are are spectacular. However, the location is somewhat isolated and you are generally limited to the hotel's restaurants. 10-15 minutes from the hotel by rental car are fully stocked CVS and the nearby Broabas whithg restaurants and glass bottom boats that sail over a reef.

This resort sits on an amazing piece of land. The view is amazing, but everything else is horrible. . Its very dirty! What a huge disappointment! The rooms are gross, the spa is ok but very over priced, the fitness room disgusting and the pool area just o.k..

I go every year (now 3 yrs on a row) to El Conquistador (mix of work and pleasure). Love the setting, the views of the caribbean and well as the great weather (December - March in my opinion). There are many activities in the hotel or in the surroundings (from renting a sail boat, deep see fishing, kayaking in the bioluminescent bay (it's a unique natural show). The hotel is older and a little worn but kept clean, and if you don't mind the usual caribbean insect that might be around your room (on in your room).

This time we went during the high winter season (holidays) and there were more people which it was a challenge to get a good spot on the pool or even on the beach. One thing I noticed the staff was very attentive (excluding one of the attendants of the coffee shop by the funicular), it was an overall great experience.

After reading a significant number of negative reviews regarding the hotel we were a little nervous about our stay before we arrived. I must say that our stay went far beyond our expectations. The hotel, grounds, and rooms are beautiful and very well kept. The staff is very professional, courteous and helpful. The amenities are numerous, including the spa, which is world-class. The food and beverages are quite good, but a little on the expensive side. I would highly recommend the El Conquistador to friends and family.

This resort is absolutely beautiful, pristine, has excellent amenities, and every staff member you meet is friendly, helpful and professional. The golf course is also beautiful and has stunning views. A short ferry ride gets you to their private island where you can enjoy the beach, some activities (basketball, putting golf, bags, etc.) and an up-close view of the iguanas that roam around. If you plan to visit the bioluminescent bay with one of the kayak tour companies, this resort is within minutes walking distance to a dock where some of the tours take off. There's a variety of food options -- our burgers at the Ballyhoo Bar & Grill down at the marina were great, while the food in the fine dining restaurants Chops and La Piccola Fontana was just ok and nothing to rave about.

Room Tip: If you stay down at the marina level, it can take up to 10 minutes to travel between your room and t...
