After a few days in the busy city of San Juan, we were ready for a slower pace and more relaxation. We found it at El Conquistador. Yes, it is a large resort and we were there between Christmas and New Years, so it was bustling. But what a location! Beautiful!
Our room was nice. Not over-the-top great, but it was clean, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was HUGE! We had a problem with the A/C on the first night, but when we called the next day, the maintenance staff was there promptly and replaced the thermostat.
We ate at the Strip House, the Italian restaurant and the seafood restaurant. We had outstanding meals at all of them, though quite pricey.
It was fun to go out to the island. The beach itself was nice, and there are plenty of activities, but it's not a great place to go in the water -- rocky (and I stepped on a sea urchin! OW!) Our teenage boys really enjoyed the water park and the regular pools. We liked the hot tubs, too.
We wished there were more choices for breakfast. It was either Cafe Caribe, which wasn't the best, or the expensive buffet (which had good food.)More
