I have never given a place one star before but I am afraid this restaurant is one of the worst I have visited in my extensive world wide travels.
I was prepared to cut it some slack because of iits fantastic position overlooking the harbour and the sea in this beautiful north Netherlands town (very much worth a visit for the magnificent wharfs and historic boats, cosy bars and beautiful cafes) - in other words, I expected it to be of a tourist place but also expected a meal that was, at least, edible.
However even against this backdrop, what followed was worse than I could have imagined. I ordered from the Indonesian options and I chose the 20 Euro fixed menu - my wife ordered two main courses.
On my serving, I was given soft green beans directly from a tin, a sate peanut sauce that had a congealed skin on the top and no meat - inedible; beef that also seemed to be tinned, which was tough and tasted truly awful and the rest of the small dishes were not much better.
My wife's courses also contained the tinned green beans, those dreadful cheap crab sticks that you might find in a supermarket and the same 'tinned' beef with the awful taste. Truly, the only decent part of the entire meal was the plain boiled rice and the hot sake that I ordered to take away the taste of my meal.
Finally when we paid the bill, the waitress was clearly extremely upset when we did not tip (even though it is not the tradition in Holland as staff automatically get their percentage), even when I explained that the meal was of extremely poor quality.
The whole experience was a major low in an otherwise lovely stay in this beautiful dutch town.
Avoid at all costs!!!!!
