A group of us were attending a wedding in the area and booked accomodation here. We were not disappointed. I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in the area. The lady who greeted us was so friendly, and the place was spotless. The breakfast the next morning was served late and was huge. and very tasty.

Like most people we were attending a wedding at Castle Durrow. A list of accomodation was provided. As we left the booking rather late I decided that I would systematically go through the list to find accomodation. I found astonishing reviews in Trip Advisor and decided to book here. The owner could not have been more friendly and accomodating. It is the best bed and breakfast accomodation ever! A beautifully restored house, very large bedroom and bathroom, spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds. You will not be disappointed here.

We recently went to a wedding in the Castle Durrow and stayed the Bianconi Red Lion. An ideal choice as the guesthouse is literally only a 10 min walk from the castle.

It was perfect from the moment we arrived - a warm welcome with tea in front of roaring fire, to the moment we left after a lovely breakfast. Also worth noting is that breakfast was served up until 11am a huge plus after dancing away to the small hours. The old coach guest house has been lovingly restored with a really high end finish. The bedrooms are luxurious, comfortable and spacious. The owners don't do anything by halves and we look forward to returning when they open their restaurant.

I would heartily recommend the Bianconi to anybody spending a night or two in Durrow. From start to finish a really enjoyable stay.

Like most people, we were in Durrow for a wedding at the Castle and needed accommodation for the Saturday night. This guest house was on the list provided by the Castle. There's only one other hotel in Durrow apart from Castle Durrow and I'm sure you've read those reviews!! So it was with some anxiety that we booked Bianconi Red Lion.

Fortunately it was excellent. We got a genuine warm welcome from the owner and then she went off to make us tea before we had to leave for the church. Our room was a good sized double bedroom with ensuite bathroom which had a superb power shower. Most importantly, it was spotless.

There's an amazing open fire in one of the sitting rooms. It was lit when we were there and I just wanted to curl up beside it for the day.

Breakfast next morning was in the dining room on the ground floor. There was a choice of cereals, juices and then a full Irish cooked breakfast - freshly cooked (not reheated), with Sunday newspapers. Faultless.

Remember this is a guest house so it will not have all the facilities of a hotel but in truth, I didn't feel I was missing out on anything. Also at €50 per person sharing, I think it was reasonable.

  • Liked — shower, bed, breakfast, decor, fireplace
  • Disliked — Leaving the fireplace to go out in the cold :-)
