We stayed here for the night when attending a wedding at the castle. Room was clean and spacious, bed and pillows very comfortable indeed. I sometimes find guest houses to be a little noisy but there was certainly no problem with that here, our room was quiet and we had a great nights sleep.

Bathroom modern and spacious with toiletries provided. We did have a small problem with the flush on the toilet unfortunately.

Staff were all very friendly and polite. Location is very central and only a few minutes walk up to the castle.

Didn't make it up in time for breakfast sadly so can't comment on the food.

Overall a very pleasant stay, would most definitely recommend.

This old premises is decorated and maintained at five star level at three star prices and I believe I would only be making it more expensive for myself, were I not to totally trust the family who own the hotel and run it.Roseta is front of house .Sean is head chef and runs an exceptional kitchen.
The premises is an old staging inn which later became the dispensary doctors home and surgery .It has been completely restored properly including the staging yard at the back.
enjoy

Just returned from the most fantastic time in the Ashbrook Arms. We were attending a wedding in Durrow Castle and stayed here for the weekend. It is more than a guesthouse - honestly I've stayed in some great 4/5 star hotels and this guesthouse certainly rivals them. The staff were unbelievably friendly, the property/rooms are so clean and the food was amazing.

I highly recommend you stay here, I fully intend on going back!

We had our wedding reception at Ashbrook Arms 24 August 13. This was a fantastic venue for our party of 50. The hosts Sean and Rosezita and children treated us like royalty right from the start. The meal was served exactly at the time we asked and it was fresh and piping hot. All our guests complimented us on our choice of hotel. If you are looking for an intimate setting for a special event, with attention to detail, wonderful food, beautiful rooms, hosts who enjoy their work and add to the atmosphere, then this is the place for you! The hotel itself is exquisite and in a charming village called Durrow in County Laois Ireland.

Met the whole family during our one night stay!! We arrived late the night before a wedding at the Castle. We were later than the check in period and the hosts had told us to just ring the bell because they live across the courtyard. Several members of the family came to greet us at the late hour and carry our bags . We told them we had a wedding the next day at the Castle and asked if we could stay later to check out (To get ready for the wedding). They were happy to accommodate us as they were not busy the next day. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast the next day was lovely and it was nice to have a leisurely breakfast while overlooking the pretty grounds. They even provided us with an iron\iron board to touch up our clothes. We spent the night of the wedding at the Castle so we were only here for one night but it was such a relaxing, enjoyable stay. Would highly recommend.

We have just spent the weekend at this very lovely Guesthouse. We were there to attend a wedding. Everything was just perfect. The hosts/owners are the most lovely people, they work non stop to ensure everything is perfect for their guests. The wedding reception laid on was one of the best we have ever been too. The Food was Top Notch and the service was excellent. The decor/dining room is all very very nice. The guest rooms are also excellent and very comfortable with plenty of space. We highly highly recommend you visit this place. Even if you are just passing through and are not staying there, stop for lunch or dinner - superb food. Well Done to everyone involved at the Ashbrooks Arms - we look forward to seeing you again soon and we will be telling everyone about you.

My wife and I attended a wedding in Durrow Castle on Friday 08 August 2013,The castle was booked out so we stayed at The Ashbrook Arms Guest house. it is located approx seven minute walk from the castle
When we arrived at the Ashbrook we were met by a very nice lady who showed us to a very nice room that met our needs in every way. while waiting for friends in the bar/living room this lady offered us tea/coffee which was gratefully accepted and when our two friends came in they got the exact same offer, Our room number 30 had a very comfortable bed and pillows with en-suite bathroom, TV, Water, and its own private entrance and free parking Sleep quality fantastic..
The breakfast consisted of Fruit juices, several cereals and a mother and father an Irish breakfast all for 100 Euros.
Before we left my wife had a chat with this kind lady as if they were old friends.
This is truly a very homely guest house run by genuine people,
Would we stay again........ DEFINITELY

Room Tip: look for a room around no 30 as it has it's own private entrance.
