Reviewed June 14, 2011

Laekjarhus is a series of three contemporary, quaint but well equipped mini-cabins situated next to a small stream with an impressive mountainous backdrop in the midst of several farm houses.

Pros: 2 comfortable bunk beds = cheap accommodations for groups of 4+
Cheaper if you bring your sleeping bag (common in Iceland)
Microwave, Coffee machine, refrigerator, sink, utensils, hot plates, cups and dishes
Dark window shades
15 minute drive from Skaftafell National Park (Vatnajokull Glacier, Hvannadalshnikur (highest point in Iceland)
Wi-Fi Access is excellent
Bathroom is small but has a nice hot shower and serves its purpose well.
Route 1 is 1/4 mile away
Online reservation system is easy/intuitive and the owner is responsive

Cons: None, unless you are expecting a hotel.

NB: This is not a hotel and is not for someone looking for the comforts of a fully equipped hotel with a restaurant/bar etc... It would be a perfect stay for anyone traveling to Skaftafell for any of the Arctic Adventures glacier hiking or mountain climbing tours. It is nearly equidistant to Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon and Skaftafell National Park (closer to Skaftafell).
