“Great Location”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

We had a very pleasant two night stay. The upstairs bedroom and adjoining bathroom were adequate with good storage. The location could not have been better, on the quayside but far enough from the main port to be quiet. It was pleasant watching the moored yachts from the bed and almost felt like being on a neighbouring boat. It was difficult to manoeuvre our heavy case up the spiral stair, so we unpacked the heavy stuff downstairs. No mini-bar or tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast could have been better: tea/coffee, orange juice, croissant for €6 and for additional yoghurt, piece of bread and cornflakes (no muesli) €12.
My only complaint is the paper-thin walls. We were wakened at 05.30 am by the people next door leaving. The noise of them going up and down the spiral stair was very loud.
We ate a delicious meal in the restaurant. Four courses for €25 which was very good value for money. I would come back if ever in Bonifacio again.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a couple of days at the end of August. Having read some of the previous reviews I would have to agree with some of the points raised.

Firstly that the breakfast is overpriced and you can get much the same anywhere around the harbour (also waterside tables) for a cheaper price. We went when it was very hot, about 38 degrees and the room was too hot. Heat rises so with the bed being upstairs in the duplex apartments, you do get a bit hot even with the air con (which is downstairs) and the fan on in the bedroom area.

Location, this hotel can’t be beaten; it’s a very short stroll from all the action, but then also far enough away that the noise does not bother you. Not sure if any rooms had baths but we had a shower and the bathroom was perfectly serviceable and right off the bedroom area. We did struggle with the spiral staircase a bit and had to unpack downstairs and carry all our clothes up. I sometimes suffer from a bad back and know that if I were suffering whist we were there this would have been difficult. As for space, it was great, plenty of it. Parking is no problem, we drove round the back of the hotel carried on till the next hotel and took the left turn after it, turning back on ourselves and ending up along in front of this hotel. You go in and they ask you straight away if you have a car and give you the code to the gate (car park to the right of the hotel as you look at it) and then you come and go as you want.

I would absolutely go back to the hotel as even with the breakfast it was value for money and the town is really nice. I would just think about going when it’s not so hot. Also don’t make the mistake we did, reception isn’t manned by someone who can check you out till after 8am and we had to be booked in on our ferry by that time, so had to leave credit card details with the night porter, which I wasn’t happy with, but obviously next time we will make sure we do it the night before.

Room Tip: Our harbour view was great in the duplex apartment, but it was hot

Everything in this place - and in Bonifacio - follows the blue-white colour scheme. We had a very intense marine experience in this hotel that looked a bit like the interior of a yacht, at the end of the pleasure boat harbour. Our suite on the first and second floor looked out over the moored boats and was very pleasant. There is a good (expensive) restaurant and breakfast is served there, at extra cost. There private parking places for free, which is excellent. Service tended to be slightly aloof, but also curteous. We may go back.

The hotel is right at the entry of Bonifacio so it's very easy to find! Parking and wifi are provided. You wait forever at the check-in desk but the rooms are charming. Minibars are promised but are not provided. The breakfast is expensive but it is served outside in the port so it is worth it.

Room Tip: ask to the port view

Funky little hotel. Rooms were 2 levels with the sleeping area on the upper level. Bonifacio is a beautiful little port. With the fortress, high on the hill above, guarding the entrance to the harbour.
The hotel is right on the water amongst shops, restaurants, boats, tour excursions, and more. We must have taken 50 pictures of the port and the fortress.

Let me start on a positive note--- the location is good. After that it goes downhill very quickly. They call it a duplex room but really it's what was once a good first floor room with a high ceiling but with a shelf in it for a tiny bedroom/ bathroom area. The bathroom is dark, small and airless. The "downstairs" is tacky, the furniture broken and unsatisfactory. As others have noted the breakfast is expensive and poor---that is the least problem because after being stung once it's easy to walk 3 minutes to the other sid of the harbour where there is q big choice. No one to help with luggage, no lounge to sit in and no staff to speak of. Unfortunately we happened to arrive on 1 July when the price goes up to a thieving 200 euros suggesting a hotel of some quality. All a pity really because it could have been a nice experience. I hope they read this because the hotel could be improved to it's proper standard. But I doubt they will care as long as there are enough people to pay their prices.

Very fair value and exactly what I'd expect for the moderate price paid. Room was clean and provided a great view of the harbor. The hotel is not in the center of things but is a pleasant 15-minute walk from the old town--just the right distance from the tourists. The breakfast was adequate, but I agree with the previous reviewer that €12 is a joke: as much as I enjoyed the coffee and croissants, you can get more to choose from at a lower price just 3 minutes away.
